  2. I sold one about this time last year for $90 - no packaging, but it did include the program diskette.
  3. Please tell me people aren't reading these by hand - surely there is an OCR derivative that would work...
  4. Purchased an XF551 Box from him (Sept 28th) ... No item, no word. I tried sending him a message, but his AA inbox is full. I'll try using his PayPal address and/or getting my money refunded.

  6. Doesn't need to be functional, just in fairly good cosmetic condition thanks! jim
  7. I've considered using a website download tool such as HTTrack or Back Street browser - it will dump every HTML linked file on the site, but would be rather anti-social due to the bandwidth consumption. atarionline.pl has a link to a single large collection of files
  8. Wow, what an ass! Did you express your displeasure at the seller? It's absolutely ridiculous that you have to explicitly ask a seller to ship something in another box, as opposed to using the item's original packaging. I do this as a matter of course now when buying items on eBay, since I've also received items with the shipping label slapped right onto the item itself. Also love the inflated customs value--what the heck was the seller thinking? ..Al I did express my displeasure - thoroughly! If I recall correctly the response was along the lines of "duh?" Since then I always ask for packaging - however (as you point out) ridiculous it is to have to ask. I think "thought process" for many eBay sellers is just a myth.
  9. poobah: I have a couple of 800's that looked exactly like yours when I opened the box - fortunately the keys pop back on fairly well - still really frustrating when you get a badly packed box. The following picture is of my worst nightmare come true - I had purchased the drive mostly for the excellent quality box - look how the bone-head shipped it: The 1050 works well, but dammit I really wanted that box! As that I live in Canada, and Canada apparently has very little cool stuff, almost all my stuff has to come through customs. The following picture shows (an all too common issue) declaration tag filled out by someone with an over-inflated sense of the items value. I purchased it for approx $12 on eBay, but she decided it was worth $29. Sadly Customs can (and often does) slap a levy on any item over $20. So thanks to the seller's creative accounting, I get hit with an extra $10 charge when the package shows up! Crap!
  10. This is an amazing hack! Congrats to the authour! I can only image the reaction it might have had 25 years ago ... exploding heads throughout the Apple community!
  11. Looking for several Atari boxes (don't need the Atari's themselves) in good or better condition: Atari 400 Atari 130 XE Atari XEGS XF551 1200 XL Styrofoam and other packing materials would be welcome! Please PM me if you have something thanks jim
  12. Alien Swarm (cassette) from Inhome Software - $35.95 August 30, 1982 (yes, not only do I still have the game, but I still have the receipt!) It was followed shortly by Star Raiders...
  13. I'd buy one too! Would it be possible to vary the speed? I can imagine situations where 200% or even 125% of original speed would be desirable...
  14. a nice colour scanner and Wal-Mart's online photo service... (a few Atari titles help was well) Poster size (30" x 20") prints of these are only $20 each! (and that's Canadian $) Next I'm looking at either a collection Infocom titles or images from my hardware collection... P.S. does anyone have decent screen shot of Word Flyer? (or even better an disk image of it?)
  15. I've got a large number of loose carts - do you have any specific requests or should I send you a list?
  16. Ring Ring! I'll try email again! Ok your email sucks! I have Gmail and I guess it dont work with yours. So pm me here I guess. I emailed him the same day and got no response as well. I'm assuming that silence indicates "Thanks for your interest, but all the items have already sold. Have a nice day" On the other hand, perhaps his silence means something else...
  17. I recently obtained an Asus EEE PC and consequently updated my Atari Launcher to accommodate it. Major changes are: Smaller interface (to fit on the 800 x 480 screen)\ Addition of "Preset Configurations" Instead of having to define say a Atari 800 with 48K, PAL and OS A by clicking on the individual options, you can choose that machine by clicking on a single button. Want to run a PAL game? ... Click on the 800XE, want to see if something would have run on a 16K machine? - Click on the 400 or 600XL. If this feature is popular, I'll roll it into the earlier version. To make this feature work properly, you'll have to have access to all of the OS ROM files (see list) and set thing up using the "Configuration" button. Atari OS A NTSC.ROM Atari OS A PAL.ROM Atari OS B NTSC.ROM Atari OS B PAL.ROM Atari OS XL rev10 (1200xl).ROM Atari OS XL rev1 (600xl) .ROM Atari OS XL rev2 (800xl).ROM Atari OS XL rev3 (XE).ROM Atari OS XL rev4 (XEGS).ROM Search SourceForge for "AtariLauncherEEE" (I just uploaded it, there may be a short delay before it's available)
  18. Would have to be a little gem called "Tilt" ... It appeared to be an emulation of those little maze and ball-bearing games we all played with a kids. Holy crap it was bad! It quickly became the butt of all jokes between my Atari friends and I - I believe we referred to it as "shiTilt" The only redeeming feature was the fact I won it as a door prize. Update: Good news! I can't find it on Atarimania!!! (it's listed, but the link points back to Super Cube) Here's hoping that little monster is truly dead!
  19. Hmmm an 800XE - that would give me a complete set of the Atari hardware that is possible to acquire. Items likes the 1450, 1090 etc, I've given up on I wouldn't say no to a 400 or 1200 box however...
  20. First of all, Tim - thanks very much for taking the time to chat with us - I know I speak for many people here when I say how much your artwork is appreciated! Further to that, please put my name down for any future publication of the "Synapse" art work - posters, books, or even quality scans! I've noticed that Synapse cropped your pictures quite a bit when creating the boxed version of the software. As can be seen from comparing the box and card versions of the pictures, the right hand side of the image often seems to lose out. Quite often resulting in the removal of your signature. This of course begs the question; What else got cropped off? On that note, I'd really like to know what the Blue Max 2001 image looks like WITHOUT THE BIG UGLY YELLOW STICKER!
  21. Have you looked at the GP2X? GP2X Store There are emulators for the 2600, 800, 7800, Lynx, and ST (as well as a whack of other systems such as C64, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, etc) I believe most of the emulators have been updated to support the newer touch screen model (F200) The GP2X uses two AA batteries, (which last for 6-8 hours), plays movies, pictures, mp3's, ebooks, transcoded games (Doom, Duke Dukem, etc) as well as the mentioned emulators. Mine goes everywhere with me!
  22. I have emulators running at full speed on my GamePark GP2X and my HTC Touch Smart phone. Neither one could be classified as "dirt cheap and/or obsolete" The GP2X is amazing for emulation - I have emulators for almost all Atari models (consoles, computers and hand-helds) all running at full speed (or close to it) with good compatibility. (As well, the GP2X has stable emulators for C64, Vic20, PET, GBA, Sega Genesis, etc) - highly recommended! I have run the PocketAtari on my original Compaq iPaq, but it does not run at full speed (40%-60% generally - slightly better if you start skipping frames) I wouldn't think the Newton would have nearly enough horsepower to run the emulator, even if you could transcode the emulator... jim
  23. Another interesting feature of Bruce Lee is the ability to rotate the joystick 90 degrees to adapt it to left handed players. I can't recall another game that allowed this.
