What are some good non-shmup games for PC Engine
raindog151 replied to bust3dstr8's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I dislike sports games, but to this day I still play the **** out of Davis Cup Tennis. Don't know why. -
Well, good enough for me. Guess I'll throw up some pictures on the trading board tonight. Appreciate your input, and am still interested in hearing other's opinions!

This topic may have been covered elsewhere, so I apologize if I didn't search well enough. Over the years I've come to acquire a Jaguar, Jaguar CD, 2 CD games and about 9 cartridge games (4 complete, 5 loose). Nothing rare by any means, but a decent starting lot. Now, I mean the following statement in the nicest way possible, but, I really dislike this thing. AvP is the only game I've picked up that I can force myself to play, and nothing else on the system really blows me away. My opinion on the system aside, I'm having a bit of a mental dilemma. Half me of me says 'Trade it for stuff you really do want!', but the other half says 'Eventually you're going to want to play it again, and the CD hardware seems to be becoming rarer!' I guess I'm interested to hear what the people here have to say on the issue. I wouldn't be holding on to it just to eBay later, but I'm pretty close to posting it on the trading board here. Is it worth holding on to?

LOL I love starland to death, but that's just hilarious.

I don't know about this issue specifically, but IMHO there are conversion issues for every port of every Capcom arcade fighter. There's a recurring thread about these issues over at SRK if you're really curious. http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=113841 Is saying that the CCC2 version of SF2ST is perfect, but I have no interest in validating it. (SF3:3S nut.) If you're interested in serious play, your best bets are: 1. Buy the cabinet / board. 2. MAME (Only after you buy the board, of course.. )

Animal Crossing if you like to casual. Killer 7 Eternal Darkness PN03 (I liked it too. ) My wife goes nuts for Pikmin, it's kind of a RTS game.. kinda of. But, the only games I really play anymore are the Megaman / Megaman X collections and WarioWare.

games that scared the hell out of you as a kid?
raindog151 replied to Shroo-man's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Heh, I was playing HTW last week and mentioned to my wife how that used to scare the **** out of me as a kid (6 or 7 as well), to which she proceeded to make fun of me for an hour. I was moderately frightened of playing Yars Revenge in the dark as a kid, the sound in that game is wicked good for an old cart. -
concur with kisrael's thoughts above. i was absolutely sucked in by the block game, and was sadly disappointed when i found that 50 was the last level. Not having much luck (or fun) with the ping pong tower game, and the shooting game is somewhat meh. I am glad I bought it though, this will be the title to pull out when friends come over.

Does anyone know the Legalities of a Gaming Store?
raindog151 replied to vgcollector666's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Please don't. If you have to do it, open one like starland or the old funcoland. You know, one that doesn't suck. -
Toys R' Us cleaned out of Gamecube games.
raindog151 replied to jboypacman's topic in Modern Console Discussion
It's not -that- bad of a game. To me it's no different than paying 50$ for Excitebike when it came out. Mindless racing game, fun to play with friends. -
Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I was curious as to the general problems with the Goldstar 3do? I picked one up today, known working for a very low price. I've read a lot of things about this one being wonky, but never exactly what the problems are?

Tron 2.0 had me throw an xbox controller down a flight of stairs. I still to this day don't know if I was really bad at it, or was just totally missing some gameplay mechanic. I was also never able to beat the shark in Viewtiful Joe. I actually slogged my way through Land of the Dead and Call of Cthuhlu, both of which really tried my patience in terms of bugs and lack of clear objectives. And although I'm actually loving the game, there are so many problems with Indiana Jones / Infernal Machines on the 64...

I loved the two for the SCD S3C on the psx, but Dragonsong takes the WD name through the mud. I mean, you lose HP for every step you take. At normal status. For the entire game. Put it on the shelf or trade it in now, before you sully your mind of the greatness of the previous titles. -

Well, I had 70$ burning in my pocket from some recent Christmas profiteering, and have just heard so much good stuff about EBA and PoR I picked em up this morning. Tempest is right, EBA is the shiznit. -

BTW, whoever mentioned Lunar Dragonsong earler, disregard. This is hands down the worst RPG I've ever, ever played. Check the reviews. -

Help for the new Neo Geo collector!
raindog151 replied to raindog151's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Heh, that nugget will save me a lot of time. Anyone care to share their opinions on what the top 3 shmup's are? Also, can someone tell me what they think a fair (buying) price is for a first gen AES controller? I paid way too much for a second gen, and it feels like a piece of s***. -

What, how no matter what you press, the d-pad sends you 2 teams off?
-
i'm just confused as to what's in the MVS -> AES converters that makes them so expensive.

NES High Score Club Week #14 - Lifeforce
raindog151 replied to vdub_bobby's topic in NES High Score Club
Do what I did when I submitted my score to Nintendo Power in 19alongtimeago, when you get to the last boss, don't beat it, it'll throw you back a few levels IIRC with your score intact. Doesn't count if you don't beat the boss, right?
