  1. We've been a while with no news but this week we have added all the required artwork, music, sounds, missions, etc... and will be going to BETA-1 and letting some people go at it as a completed game! :)

It's bug-crunching and tuning time! Whoohoo!

As a teaser, here's what the game's main menu and mission selection screens look and sound like now. As you can see, we've come a long way!

Sadly, although I have been a long time member of these forums, I really never considered venturing into the jaguar part until I recently acquired a RetroHQ Jaguar GameDrive.. I really only started poking around these parts wanting to look into support for that device. I've owned my Jaguar for a good while too.

What I found was allot more than I bargained for. I had no idea that there were so many homebrews and conversions.

Welcome, now go spread the word that the Jaguar forum isn't Mos Eisley ;)

    • Instead of making the "bubbles" bounce, why not have them all just slowly float up? Or is that too disorienting for the player? You could also give them a short life, so they appear for just a couple seconds then disappear.

How would you know if you are diving or rising?

if you have a PAL Jaguar at your disposal it would be nice to test it. And thank you for your appreciation! I work with the Jaguar limitations and, well, my own. I like to keep things simple otherwise I would never get anything done.

I have a 'few' consoles - will try them this weekend.

I noticed in the code you are setting REGPAGE every interrupt - I think, IIRC, this only needs to be set once at the top of the code - it *might* be causing problems.

  5. K-Series NTSC @ 60hz - Jagbug worked fine.

I can test on my other systems over the weekend if required.

Very nicely done, no textures to drag it down, simple gameplay, nice style choices - Cool!

  6. There is currently a Last Strike competition running to win a special canvas print of the Last Strike artwork. After the current Jaguar HSC round ends there will be a shorter reBOOTed round to win a canvas print of the reBOOTed artwork. Both works were created by the amazing William Thorup.

As with the Last Strike competition, for the reBOOTed competition, scores will only be accepted from valid AtariAge handles submitted from the reBOOTed versions of the games (validated via the Reboot website)

*Note, there is an AtariAge logo on the competition prize prints, these are my personal ones that hang proudly on my wall!

A lof of times new homebrews are released with "get them here" because, well, duh, please buy our games, we spend a lot of time making them..... but why not engage with the community more after the releases? This is my way of saying "thank you" to the Jaguar fan base for supporting these games and the other titles I've released over the years.  You guys are great, keep dispelling the toxic Jaguar community myth and continue to PUSH THE BUTTONS.

    Anyway, Game on!

  7. OK, a few people didn't like the vagueness of the competition....

    So lets make it:

    • At Midnight, 30th June, 2021 (My timezone, Central Australian)...
    • Someone *must* have the highest possible rank (if not achieved, we will continue on until someone does!)
    • and also the highest score (it is possible to have lower scores, with higher ranking...)
    • Game testers are exempt (sorry guys, it wouldn't be fair - you've been playing this for months)

    Shall be declared the winner.

    As a side bonus:

    • First person to achieve the highest possible rank will win a smaller prize.

    Game on, people :)

  8. Here is the new introduction sequence with the replaced music:

The original musical score for The Chaos Engine has been completely replaced by Roald Strauss (who has also provided the musical score for Reboot's upcoming game "Gravitic Mines" and well as the already released "Biopede" and several others!)

Great care has been taken to align the new tracks to give a fantastic new experience to this classic game.
