Thanks for that... I'm storing all the objects in a chain, with the unused ones at Y=900 (which is well above any value the vertical counter will ever reach during a frame) - I guess that doesnt count tho as the OP will still have to read the entire chain. I was hoping to be able to keep currently unused objects "dormant" in the list by holding them offscreen. So the best way to disable objects in a long list would be to put a BRA object infront of them?

Is there a maximum number of objects you can link in the ObjectList, or are my routines picking the all-too-convenient number of 256 objects to bug out on? I'm fine with 256 objects, 257 however=black screen. My LINK pointer code looks valid on the 256th object so I'm wondering if this is an OP limitation? Also, are there any alternative music-drivers to the Sinister Development's MOD replayer? That one seems to snag up all the system bus

Nope, stubbed 50/60 PAL jag with an Alpine - and agreed its not a 50/60Hz thing as the jetman is stable its just the background thats all over the place Well, it was developed on an NTSC Alpine (or maybe a SNASM2) all those years ago, and it runs fine on the 14 jaguars we have available for testing code on here.... including 3 other developer Jags... so I don't know what is up with your console.

Have you ever considered updating the graphics with some 24 bit color? If you are not an artist I can understand but my guess is (and I know actually) that there are many folks in the forums who would gladly help you out if you were willing to do so. The graphics are all in Windows BMP 256 colour uncompressed (not RLE) format, and are converted to jaguar format at runtime into either 256 of 16bit images (I can't remember, check the source), so all anyone has to do is paint over whats there and re-assemble it :-) From what I can recall of the code, the pixels under Jetman's feet are tested. if they are empty he can move, if not, he landed. Same for the cabbages.. err asteroids. You could easliy add another object of the same size as the screen behind that, and make the gamescreen transparent, giving you a full colour image to play over. The enemies are (again if i remember correctly) pulled from a look up table containing all of one enemy type, so they could be added to quite easily as well. But I'll leave those points as an excersise for the reader, I'm kind of busy right now helping Morden out on something very special, plus I don't really want to go back to that code again. To Owl above... it sounds like you are running it on VirtualJaguar, because that mess you describe is what the emulator makes of it. It runs fine on both my PAL and NTSC jags here.

Reboot - A new Atari group is born!
CyranoJ replied to promethea's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Morden e-mailed me a copy of their tech demo, and I can honestly say that the cake is a cheesecake, and very yummy indeed. It's all silky smooth and running on the GPU/DSP at 50/60fps. Yumm! Can't wait to take a bite! -
But I don't want to play battlesphere, because I have a PC and X-Wing - No software is worth the price that thing sells for. Maybe if they did a digital distribution of the ROM for around $10-$20 they'd sell loads more.

Given that the Skunk can run any rom image of any game currently in existence, why would you ever want to yank it out of the Jaguar to put a *real* gamerom in? Mine has replaced the Tempest 2000 I was considering soldering into the slot The only point I can see is if you want to play a CD based game.

Its 1993, you're in charge of the Jag, what do you do?
CyranoJ replied to A_Gorilla's topic in Atari Jaguar
I don't think anyone has ever said that before. Careful, credibility is easy to lose -
Well, he's free to host it. We'd prefer a link tho
-
What's JSII? I don't think JavaScript is appropriate for the Jaguar.
-
OK, seeing as we at D-Bug are playing host to reboot until they can get themselves sorted properly with domain and web hosting, I've put the source files for JetpacJ64 up on the reboot section of the dbug forums. You can find it in the Jaguar Programming board here. Please feel free to link to them, but we'd request that they are not hosted elsewhere (Although, obviously we wont hunt you down and stab you thru the heart with legal action if you do)

Let's just say I dont agree with that at all, and not go down that particular route again *edited for misquote - we know how dangerous they can be!*
-
Let's hope they can help dispel that particular myth about the Jaguar. Looks very promising. Good luck guys (and gal?)

Maybe you should ask that on our forums, instead of in a thread on another forum about someone else's crashware crap That's not to say we wouldnt answer it here, just not in this thread about this very dodgy bloke's very dodgy software that is almost guaranteed to leave your HD in a mess.

If there's any interest I can put the source code online.

LOL. Oooh your so funny. Wanna call the CPU in my PC slow again? Cuz your going round and round in self denial circles. As you just said: "I'd rather spend my time...." "I'd rather...." "I" "I" "I" And then you impose those demands on everyone and call everything else "crap" because it doesnt push the jag. Is Tetris not the worlds most popular game? Don't see any RISC chips crunching polygons in that? You seem ignorant to the fact that a good game is a good game, and doesnt need to push the system for anything. If that wasn't the case people wouldnt be playing A2600 or A8 games today, would they? Fact is, the Jag is VERY EASY to code for - and you cannot argue that fact. And this is what you have based your entire attack on me on. The 68k and OP are trivial things to execute programs on. Assembling in DOSbox is simple. Running assembled code in VJag is entirely possible. Yet you mock the entire thing saying "well if its not pushing a billion polygons/second it's worthless." That, Gorf, is sad. For you, and for everyone else not playing new games regularly. Hell, take 10 years - and be pleased with the result yourself. Pat yourself on the back, it'll probably even be a really good result. But nobody alive except you will give a damn about playing it at that point. If the "jag scene" doesn't pick its ass up on the ground soon, there won't be one for it to fart out of.
-
Gorf, I'm not answering your obsessional demands. Go F**K yourself with a jagpad. All anyone has to do is re-read this thread and see where your last attack on me contradicts EVERYTHING YOU SAID PREVIOUSLY. pea - I'm up for that challenge. Oh, and in case you failed to read this correctly. GORF, GO F**K YOUSELF WITH A JAGPAD. Right, I'm off to eat my subway and start coding a nice fun game for the jaguar. It can't be that hard. Wanna start a poll about what people want? a) A nice, fun game every 2-3 months, or b) A powerhouse blockbuster game that takes 10 years to code or possibly never appears. oh and PS. GORF, GO F**K YOUSELF WITH A JAGPAD.
