  1. So I've got one of the Acard SCSI/IDE adapters (an AEC-7720U) sitting here taunting me with its uninstalled status. I'm planning on trying to use the bridge inside my STacy with a Compact Flash-IDE adapter to give me a nice super cool solid state hard drive. Don't know exactly how successful it will be, but I'm thinking it should work.

    Has anyone tried anything similar?

Sort of... A while back a guy sold me his inventory of prototype SCSI flash drives. I think he intended to produce a limited run for classic Mac enthusiasts but never did. Anyway, these things are ADTX SCSI to IDE bridges with a custom connector into an IDE-to-CF converter. In the converter is a 128 MB CF card.

I tried one of these on my Amiga 2000's SCSI controller and it worked great! I have a Stacy 2 and see no reason why it should not work with that system's SCSI controller. I just don't have an HDD software or practical ST HDD experience to test the theory.

Anyway, the AEC sounds like a similar device to the ADTX. It should work, but I suppose there are a lot of X-factors involved.

  2. My Grandmother got an Atari VCS on or near the date of its launch. She was looking for a game for my Grandfather while he was recovring for surgery (I think) and asked for an airplane board game or puzzle, and the store clerk showed her air-sea battle.

I seem to remember getting a Lynx on its first day, or at least week-end. And an Xbox and an Xbox 360 a few weeks before thier official launch dates in the US.
