1. I'd go but I don't own a company or run anything Atari-related- huge fan though. If it ever happens, be sure to notify SPACE.

The last "fest" I attended was Jagfest '98(?)- the one in/near Rochester. I met Dan Iacovelli & had a pretty good time.

    hey RJ,

I haven't heard from you in long time.

it was jagfest '99 in MN. I've only been to Jagfest 97,99,2001,2002 (and hosted the jagfest stops this year at MWC and VGS) at 98 I did have club rep present at the show in NY.

  3. Me thinks Inky's been watching too much Svengoole on chicago TV station CH.26.

(For those who don't who svengoolie is: he is a local horror host in chicago

(which started in 70's on differnt channel) and he usally gets hit by a bunch of rubber chickens at the end of the show after he tells the closing "Bad" joke)

All I ask is that if you come here... that you don't buy all of the atari stuff in my town!

    :x :x :x

lol Kidding aside... if you get with me at the OKGE... I can show you a few good Atari spots in town and close by. Remember... this is the home of my recent finds (Q*bert Qubes ... less than a buck, River Raid II, Star Wars TAG, Strawberry Shortcake, Frogger II... all at a buck a piece.)

There's lots of things here for Atari collectors, and even some good deals on Atari Jaguar stuff.

Let me know who is coming so that I will know who you are and everything. If I finish my tabletop Atari 2600 system... I will be showing it at the OKGE. Hopefully I can get it done!!!!

    Eric DeLee

Unfortunalty, I won't be able to go to any more shows for this year(2 is my quota unless I can get more time off)

However, AVC will be one of the sponsors of the OKGE(we doanted a year subscription to the atari zone fanzine for a prize) also we will have a rep there (I haven't contacted him yet if he is going to offical rep the club or if he just wants to go on his own).

  5. From what I understand, there are two versions of the Stella CD; I have the first one which I bought after writing about it in Replication News way back when, but I am curious--what's on the second version? If it's noticably different, heck, maybe I'll blow $5 to get it.

the second version doesn't have polo game on it,plus I think there are some other items on it(not too sure though) maybe Glenn or Russ can enlighten us.

  6. my 2600 was hooked up to many tvs:

first when I got it when it came out it was hooked up to an old quasar 19inch tv(b/w) then later on it went down to 12 inch tv(color) then it went to 20 inch(color) it's currently hooked to a 27 inch sony tv. (it shares the same tv with my jaguar right now) if you went to mwc or vgs then you saw my 12incher.

  7. You might want to organize something with Songbird, SPACE, MilATARI, SCAT, the Atari Video Club, and Video 61. I'm sure they'd all be interested in attending such an event. :)

well, chances are close to slim for me to attend another event as of right now. I can prob get rep from AVC/JCU to attend and get a report.

AVC/JCU is also willing to sponsor any classic/next gen event (if it's affordable)

  8. I agree with with crossbow on what he said:

Location is important(VGS location was located right off the expressway

    which was the best part)

again VGS was is a good spot: down the street is amusemt place called safariland(one of our sponsors) and it was also in the bewtween two malls

Woodfiled(15 miles) and oakbrook (5 miles). plus north park mall was also down the street. (there was also another amusemnt place enchanted castle a bit further down)

Price is important:I did loose money on my first show (this was basicly because I didn't advertise enough(we did have flyers going around in st.louis and parts of chicagoland, also some was passed out by GDG and Pack rat) my other ads wasn't even done(Cable tv BB and the suntimes paper did put the mention I submitted ). next year: it's going be done by the number of tables I sell (I have to sell off 35 of the 50 table or there will be no show)

Facilty: my place oddly enough was actually in the office building that the hotel uses the meeting room for. but it was nice and I do plan on returning there for VGS'04. We did have room for walking around since we had 35 tables on the wall 15 outside the room (I don't know how many was in the middle) if we get too many people I can always add an extra room (since it rented by the day and not by the room)

and yes have fun at the show. I tried to do that at VGS but I have to also watch my stuff at the same time so I walked around played a few of my games. and enjoyed my self.

    Dan Iacovelli

  9. That sounds great but for the location of the convention how did you deal with that??

The basics with that (I'm going to sumerize what I said to you on YIM)

is go with a location you can afford (the hotel for VGS was 400 per day plus tax and set up fee(491.05)) the otherplaces I did check out before the one we used for VGS were either too high (holiday inn hillside wanted 2000+tax and set up fee ) or didn't want us(countryside was that one)

the cheapest one was triton college (25.00 per day for non-profit,or 100 profit) but they didn't have anydates open and I didn't have a chance to get certificate of insurance. I could have tried for the community center because I know that wanted 25.00 per hour(I contacted them before when I wanted to get the local club started) but never had a chance to call them.

    Dan Iacovelli

  10. the one problem with prize doantions is that you have figure out a way to make sure the prizes get used.

I have to send back most the stuff GDG sent me(I luckly I was able to keep three lynx games since I didn't have them)

I 'm also stuck with 7 Coloectors guides from DP(I didn't want tosend them back was going to use them as give ways for people who requested

the program, but I figured I might be able use them as prizes for VGS'04 and keep DP as a sponsor).

    Dan Iacovelli

(Crossbow,if you are still looking for sponsors let me know AVC/JCU will be glad to be a spondor OKCGE(I wanted to sponsor AGE but the prices they asked was out my range) btw: I put mention of OKCGE in the upcoming issue of the atari Zone fanzine it's due out some time soon just got geta report from AGE(from Tim willson) and put in review of BI/WN

    and do club news article)

  11. what I did for VGS: I simply asked if they would like to donate a prize or have a table for the show. (Look at the pr for the first list of sposors I posted at the end I ask the same question).

some times if you just ask for sponsorship help they will say yes.

  12. Mrs. Inkys back is in the third pic down...

I assume you mean the woman with her back to the camera? Or do you mean the redhead who also appears further down the page? And who's the guy with the redhead (if not you)?

the red head guy was bohus I belive.

Er, red? Bohus (Gulag Picture Radio, right?) is the guy talking to Mrs. Inky.

    yeah thats him.

    Dan Iacovelli

  13. yeah thats right, it was down on st.charles road( near the lombard elmhurst border I think).

I found out about mars from BRE Software they used to produce the A-exchange n/l that covered themost of the atari stuff.

    Dan Iacovelli

(inky: the only way you might know me from mars is that you atteneded

the swap meets I was there contsantly(you might have seen the early issues of the Atari zone there too, I did leve some at the door and if they had extras I let them have them for the store to pass out)

  14. I did brought mine from mars merchandise 3-15-1994 for 259.95.

    Dan Iacovelli

Now that's a name i haven't heard in a LOOOOOOONG time (Mars). Isn't that the shop in downtown Glen Ellyn? Long time Atari dealer? I used to go there all the time back in the 80's when I lived in Wheaton. rode my bike down the priarie path every saturday to lioter there. Bought most of my 8-bit Atari and 7800 stuff from Mars Merchandising...ahh the memories! :D

they used be down in elmhurst (next to BK not to far from the car wash)

but they have long gone now. inky used be in conatct with them (we almost had one of the guys come to VGS,but inky couldn't get hold of him)

(I used to go to their swap meets in villa park,il at the iowa comunity cneter)

    memories..

    Dan Iacovelli

  15. Actually things are going one almost flawlessly... Almost... :)

I've been working like hell lately (heck, i was hoping that i could take a week off but... Nah!) and i'm not having many time to work on it plus i've faced a bug that is being quite hard to solve :( but i still haven't quitted! ;)

Seriously: Expect v. 0.2 on mid august - it will be ready - i guess... :D

    Regards,

    Lazzeri

    thanks for the update

  16. With this topic in mind, I am in the process of re-activating MilAtari. I've managed to track down what was left of the original group and am securing 20 some odd year stock of newsletters, software, and computers.

    Marty,

AVC used to exchange newsletters with MILAtari back in the late 80's

if you do restart it let me know I'll be gald to exchange newsletters with Milatari agian.
