  1. Something I ran past Dan for next year's VGS, is having what I call ST feST 2004 at the VGS.  The idea is to get people in with their ST / TT/ Falcon computers, for gaming tournaments, ST dealers, etc.  I'm immediately thinking of a MIDI maze competition.  I think this would go over pretty well. :)

What do y'all think on this?

Inky, first of all we have to decide on the date for the show(it's tentative set for July17th,2004, but this might change depending on the dates of AGE,MWC,CGE or other shows next year) Also we are going be using the same location as we did this year. But the main thing I'm working for right now is getting tables in the main room filled up first. ( I'm also thinking of network thing too, BS,doom, (possiblity battletech,I know they are head quartered near chicago and if I could get them to come I could set up a room for network game play and such, the best part of the location, they only charge by the day and not by the room so I might be possblie to take up the whole floor(rooms A-D(A,B main room for vendors and exhibitors(this includes the tables out side,C for network game play(or even signles) and D can be used for a museum or more game play)

but agin this is still not set in stone yet. I'll let every body know around november or Febuaray.

(Also I'm for getting more Users groups to come too(SCAT said they will be willing to come again))

  2. Reviving this thread with recent news of more existing users' groups:

    1. ACEC (Atari Computer Enthusiasts of Columbus) is alive and well -- and members meet twice a month!

contact [email protected] for further details.

    2. There's a users' group in Northern Indiana that's still active. Does anyone have any more information about this?...

You mean IMAGE(Indiana Michigan Atari Group Exchange) they are still

Active contact Stephen Elek Jr.([email protected]) they do have meetinmg every month

    3. And, since I neglected to mention this last time, let's not forget about Dan Iacovelli's Atari Video Club, which recently hosted the Video Game Summit in Lombard, Illinois....

Technically we are not computer user group but computer owners

are welcome to join(The above mentioned group (IMAGE) is also a member of the group via newsletter exchange)

(local meetings are not being set up yet but I expect that it will be started some time next year)

It's interesting to note that almost all of the existing North American groups are located in or around the Great Lakes. Hmm...

    thats true

  3. WOW that's awesome, fellas! Congratulations on a job well done. I don't think anyone in the history of gaming events has ever pulled off an "over 1000 attendee" event on their first shot before, nice job.

I wish I could have been there, hopefully the spacing between this and CGE is better next year.

I'm waiting for our correspondent to send his pics over, we've got 150+ to share. From these prelim pics and the reports I've gotten the event sounds a lot like PhillyClassic 2, where the turnout was just way beyond what anyone expected. If you can find a place with about TWICE the space you've got in these pics you should be sized just about right.

Again, congrats on a job well done and for bringing gamers together!

    I agree with joe,

this has to be a first for Videogame trade shows, to have 1000 people on the first year. Plus the fact that age was first announced in may (which is about 3 months away from the show date).

  4. Mrs. Inkys back is in the third pic down...

I assume you mean the woman with her back to the camera? Or do you mean the redhead who also appears further down the page? And who's the guy with the redhead (if not you)?

the red head guy was bohus I belive.

  5. looks like you had a big crowd. I hope to get that big of crowd VGS'04.

(If any body is doing a report on the show let me knowI'll put it in the upcoming issue of atari zone fanzine(how did Jagfest at AGE turn out btw))

  6. I know it's a picture of a black bear at night time:)

wheres the grass? the cow ate it, then wheres the cow?

he left why should he stick arround if theres nothing left.

(my favorite bit from my seasme street days)

  7. By all means, then, save it up and come to OKGE 2004.  Assuming Crossbow's already planning ahead.   :D

Or better yet, Midwest Classic 2004.

midwest needs to be more than a single day before i can justify traveling to it ^^

    That's why he said 2004 ;)

Lots more info will be coming soon...

If all goes well on my side, VGS'04 might be happening too.

(Dan, let me know when you get your info on MWC'04 straightned out

I might be able to come again(unless Safeway decides to close out Domicinks for good(Our contact expires tomarrow :( )

  9. Heh, I know this isn't fair because I met Dan last year but what they hey...

He's the guy with the dark hair and white t-shirt sitting in the back in picture 5. He's also barely visible in the first picture.

    We have a winner.

Greg is correct that was me barely visible in the first pic watching dan loosen win his way to jagfest prize package. and yes I was taking breather at the AVC table(entrance table) in pic #5.

I wish greg didn't say anything because it would have been a great contest

    to do.

  10. Your most likely the dude wearing the black vest on the white shirt with the black atari fuji on it...

There are two others that appear in two pictures only...but I suspect they ain't you.

    :)

    Wrong again

    whats your next guess?

    :)

  11. Dan,

Your either the guy playing Protector in those shots with the Jag shirt on...or your the dude with the pony tale wearing the Gamespy shirt...

    8)

    Nope and Nope...

    Heh

No help from the peanut gallery(in other words if you were there to give away the answer).

    Here's a hint I said two pictures.

    Dan Iacovelli

  12. Will Jagfest ever be it's own private show again? Like Jagfest 01 that seemed like a great show, wish I would have been there.

my guess is yes, as long somebody wants to organizine it.

    Dan Iacovelli

  13. Same here for CGE.

Even though some people rejected our sponsorship we'd still like to help out those who would like our help.

We'd be happy to try and help out the other shows around even if it's just in passing along ideas and suggestions.

    John

I would like any help you can give me for next year(that goes for anybody else also) PM your ideas. my bro came up with an a good

idea for next year as well pm and I'll tell you.

    Dan

  14. I came in late (I think I arrived around 12 or 12:30)  I didn't spend much time there.  I bought some wireless joysticks in the room and then I bought some 2600 games from Tiggerthehun in the hallway.  If you were the one collecting money, I was the one that you trcked down across the room.  When I walked in I didn't see any one who might be collecting money, just a bunch of people having a good time playing video games  :D !

that was me: so you must be brent? right.

the entrance table was the one with the 2600 on it.

(somebody asked me about the supercharger but I couldn't find the person because somebody side tracked me about something)

    Dan

  15. Glad to hear the show went off well, Dan and crew!

Looking forward to the pics, sounds like fun!

hopefully some others will have pics from the show I didn't have my digicam with me.

    Dan

  16. Glad to hear the show went off well, Dan and crew!

I hope you were able to give away all of the DP Guides. We'll be happy to sponsor you anytime (and to any other show who's looking for sponsorship, Digital Press wholeheartedly supports the hobby - count us "in")!

Looking forward to the pics, sounds like fun!

unfouturantly, I was only able to give three away(one was part of the prize package and two was just given away) so I only have 7 left.

we didn't have enough people for raffles or extra tourneys.

luckly I came up with an idea, since I have so many programs left over

I can give the program and a guide and name badge to the first seven people who requst a copy of the program package. (thats if it's ok with you joe)

I'll send you a copy of the program and a name badge in a week or so.

    Dan

  17. I liked the fact that it was right off the expressway and I didn't have to fight with street traffic.  That is the one thing I hate about Chicago and the Suburbs - TRAFFIC (stop, go, stop, go, oh crap that was our turn!)

BTW: Just a few signs could help people get to the right building.

I had to wait until my sibs got back from office depot with copies of the the program, they brought the tape and put it on the building upstairs

and I had the ones down stairs.

I did want to put in the hotel itself, but Ihad nobody to watch my table.

    Dan

(btw:which person were you at the show)

  18. My main problem with the location is that I thought it was to be in the Quality inn and suites itself, and not in the adjacent office building.

Having it on the lower floor I think was a bit of a problem also.

But the location of the hotel is easy enough to get to, though.

they rent off the rooms in the office building.

I did mention it on the list that it's in the office building.

thats where most the rooms are for the meetings.

they had the elevators so I don't think that much a problem.

but you have to look at the price wise for the room: 400.00 a day

thats the best price I heard.

we would have gotten more people if I went to the malls by there and have flyers over there. oh well. next year is another matter.

    Dan
