Hi folks ! For everybody who wants to do decent jag related talk, feel free to join me again on AtariAge. As AtariAge and JI2 are the best Jag forums out there. TAEX, is just full of flame wars. Tbirds playground. Decent Jag talk isn't possible there. So I will be on this forum in the future. Regards, Lars.

Hi folks ! I feel the need to warn you about a certain game retailer. A certain game dealer called "gameland" which is in hollywood, USA is not trustworthy at all. After I shipped him 51 copies of Ocean Depths, and after he mailed me that the items had arrived, after a disagreement he claimed nothing had arrived and now wants a full refund with paypal. I also have a few photos of him showing the game on E3. (Nothing special, though. He was just a regular visitor who took the game out of his pocket and took a few pictures with an incredible bad digital camera. Only one picture is of adequate quality to actually see what it is about and only if you know what it's about.) However now he is bad mouthing ocean depths and me and putting those copys that he claims had never arrived on ebay. Which means, I will never even get my items back if I do the refund. Even though his auction texts are highly ridiculous, they are potentially harming sales. Not only mine, but the sales of everybody who offers the game. Including songbird, atari age and other great Jaguar supporters. In his e-mails he is talking about how professional and big he is (even though I have never ever heard of him, before. I would consider "big" something like EB Games, with stores all other europe and US. Not somebody with one store, in one city.), but still he found it funny to insult me, carl forhan and the Jag scene in general in over ten e-mails. He already has 54 complaints on ebay, most of them because he didn't ship his items or, because he got stuff, then asked for refund as he claimed nothing had arrived. So this is no new thing to him. He defiantely did this before. Ebay ID: lizcamp2 Zane Coopersmith [email protected] 323-369-9207 Los Angeles Store Location- GAMELAND 7071 SANTA MONICA BLVD W.HOLLYWOOD,CA 90038 USA So all I can do is warn everybody, either not to deal with him at all, or to be VERY careful. Regards, Lars.

Hi ! Why didn't you listen to me Dragonforce ? I told you, if Justclaws doesn't answer ICQ messages or e-mails, it is just because he is busy with other things. Regards, Lars.

Hi ! This is to some point true, but also wrong to some point. The Jaguar has 5 processors: GPU DSP Blitter OP MC68000 Every Jaguar program that displays a graphic of some sort HAS to use the OP. So this means EVERY Jaguar Game uses it. The DSP has to be used if you want to create sound. This means EVERY Jaguar game uses that as well. The 68000 has to be used to startup the system, so every game uses the 68000 as well. This means every released Jag game uses: OP DSP MC68000 However GPU and blitter are more or less optional. But this does not mean that those were not used. You can be sure that at least 98% (maybe even 100%) of all Jag games used every processor of the Jaguar at some point. The important thing is not if they were used or not, but how effectively they were used. Actually the Jaguar's potential was pushed very far. You could even say the full potential was used, or at least as much as it is humanly possible. The best examples for this are games like Iron Solider 2 and Battlemorph when it comes to 3D and games like Rayman and Native Demo when it comes to 2D. Regards, Lars.

Hi folks ! I think there is nothing on the Jag that could count as real RPG. While Towers 2 might have a few RPG elements, it's far from real RPGs. He asked for turn based RPGs and the Jag has nothing in this genre. Most games that were mentioned here are closest to the adventure genre, not RPG. For example Highlander is considered an action adventure. Flashback is also an action adventure, just 2D. Some people alos count that as jump and run, but to me there are not enough jump and run elements involved. And games like AVP and DOOM are certainly no RPGs.. That are normal 3d shooters. Real Role Playing Games, have some or all of the following features: Characters to create, train your character, improve its skills by increasing its values, learn new skills, learn new spells. Huge worlds to play it, tons of quests to fullfil. etc etc. Battles are not won by fast reactions or button smashing like in action games, but by clever thinking about what attack, skill or spell can help you defeat the enemy. Basically you could say, the main features are: exploring a huge game world, meeting hundreads of NPCs, fullfilling hundreads of quests and improving your character(s) by increasing their attributes and of course turn based fights, where clever tactics are more important than button smashing. That are the most significant features for a turn based RPG in my opinion. None of the games mentioned above has these features. The closest one is Towers2, but its not turn based and doesn't have most of the other festures as well. And Eerievale is no RPG either. It's a pure adventure. Regards, Lars.

Hi ! Yes, same with me. I used to see adverts for this tape in the "Atari Inside" magazine... like in the 1/98 issue... But the magazine didn't dissapear. It's still there, however as the atari community got smaller over the years you can not buy it at normal newspaper stores anymore. You can only buy it directly from the publisher or as subscription. Would be cool to see what's on this tape, though. Regards, Lars.

I think this thread is useless and could just as well be erased. All it did is starting another e-mail war, between me and him, which is just taking away my motivation and giving me headaches... Just keep in mind as of now, there is NO official star alliance soundtrack. At least none that has something to do with the final game. Even better, if somebody wants to sell you something "official", go check the starcat developments page or e-mail me. If there is nothing mentioning that, then it's not official. Regards, Lars.
-
Hey ! Why did you remove the original text ?! This doesn't improve the situation either. Regards, Lars.
-
Hi Micky ! Maybe you should also mention that the current situation is quite uncertain. Before Euro Jag fest, it was supposed to be the soundtrack to Star Alliance, yes. However back then nobody except myself ever heard the soundtrack (no other team member either). However after the little disagreement between you and me, I had the feeling that you weren't interested in the project anymore. Judging from the feedback of the rest of the team, my feeling was supported. There are some other points that speak for this decision as well. So the current situation is the music on that CD will not be in the final game. Regards, Lars.

Hi folks ! There are now a few Ocean Depths reviews on the Starcat Developments page (in the products/ocean depth section), as well as some slight improvements on the order page. Have fun ! Regards, Lars. check out: http://www.starcat-dev.de

Hi ! Just wanted to point you here if you're interested: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...item=8100977224 Regards, Lars.

Hi Peter ! The walking seemed a bit strange to you, because it was not final. It did not have the "autowalk" command as well as the path layout is by far not final. So that will be a lot better in the final game. However I'm glad you like what you saw already. Kevin: Your copy of Ocean Depths was shipped today Regards, Lars.

Hi folks ! Due to high demand the Jaguar mouse adapters and mice are also almost completely sold out. So the price just increased a little bit. (the price drop that was done a few months ago was removed) Everybody who send payment for an order already, will of course not have to pay more than he did already. However it is not sure yet, when new mice and jag mouse adapters will be in stock once these are sold. Regards, Lars.
-
folks ! I thought I'd let you know that the final copy (the very last one) of Ocean Depths Limited Edition pack with Mouse and Mouse Adapter is now on ebay. This is your chance to get one if you didn't have the luck to secure one in time. Regards, Lars. This is the URL http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3090999467
-
Hi Shiuming ! I hope nobody misunderstands this. Just the limited edition is sold out. The standard version is still available with no end in sight yet. Regards, Lars.
-
Hi ! I have now added a few screenshots to the Ocean Depths section of the Starcat Developments homepage... Regards, Lars.
-
Hi folks ! Wow. Thanks for the kind words. I had no idea so many people were actually interested in this. The limited bundle is almost sold out already. Only two copies left. So if you guys still want one of the packs at the special low price, you should hurry. Gunstar: The mouse adapter can be used with all programs on the CD at least in the menu screens and entirely in eerievale of course. Ocean Depths is playing on its own later and JagMind supports the joypad. So far there aren't any screenshots yet, but you are right. I should make some as soon as possible. Btw, I'll take a look at the Star Alliance page later, to figure out what the problem is. Regards, Lars.
-
Hi ! No. It also runs without mouse. Then you can control the mouse cursor with the normal joypad. However with mouse it's much more enjoyable. Everybody who played myst on the jag and has played it on the PC as well knows what I'm talking about Regards, Lars.
-
Hi ! Gunstar... The page is working fine for me. http://www.starcat-dev.de/star_alliance/index.php Regards, Lars.

Hi folks ! I'm happy to announce another Starcat Developments release. Actually this should have been finished months ago already, but I just didn't find the time to finish it earlier. It's called "Ocean Depths" and it's a collection of three parts. The first part is an relaxing slideshow similar to the popular Nuon program "Ambient Mosters". The second part is an early playable demo of Eerievale. (Based on the version shown on EJagFest 2003, just slightly improved). And the third part is a small game on its own. It's called "JagMIND" and I'm sure most people know the original board game Mastermind, this game is based on the same idea. Ocean Depths comes in a DVD case similar to the painter release by Sinister Developments and of course also with a great looking CDR lable like it was already done with the Euro JagFest 2001 CD. Ocean Depths is of course fully encrypted and runs on any PAL/NTSC Jag CD unit. It's the first game to make use of the Starcat Developments Mouse Adaptor (originally created by Matthias Domin), which can be purchased at the Starcat Developments Homepage. To celebrate this release Starcat Developments offers a limited edition Bundle which consists of Ocean Depths, Mouse Adaptor and suitable Mouse for the bargain price of only 45 Euros including shipping worldwide. (Or 40 Euros incl shipping to Germany.) If you want one of these be sure to hurry, because once they are gone, they are gone. Btw, now it's also possible for people who do not have paypal to send money orders. Check it out on the official Starcat Developments Homepage. http://Www.starcat-dev.de Have Fun ! Regards, Lars.

Hi folks ! It's not that hard actually. Back in 99 I first did this mod myself and even put pictures of it on the old Jaguar Development Club homepage... It's really a cool mod, though. Regards, Lars.
-
Hi Dragonforce ! I would suggest you get games like: Iron Solider 2 and Battlemorph. At least those are the top JagCD games in my opinion. Regards, Lars.
-
Hi ! It's simple. You can't. Creating proper Cinepak movies takes a long time. It took me months to finish the Euro Jag Fest 2001 CD. In order to play a clip you first need to write a player for it, or get a working player. Then you need a working clip. (just because it was converted, it doesn't mean that it will work) And then you need to burn both according to the JagCD Layout onto a CD. The only program that I know, that can be used to burn JagCDs is cdrecord. Regards, Lars.
