  1. Hi Al ! In that case you might want to add a link to Starcat Developments (http://www.starcat-dev.de), to make new developersaware of the Starcat Developments Jag Dev Tools CD. You might also want to link to www.atari-jaguar64.de, the infos there might also interest new coders. And also a few important downloads. (Although I didn't really have time to work on the site for a long time ) Regards, Lars.
  2. Hi Guys ! I can understand both opinions. On one hand I can understand why the moderators and admins kicked Thunderbird, but on the other hand I can also understand that some Jag fans fear he won't be doing jag stuff anymore. One thing is for sure, it is DEFINATELY NOT the end of jaguar development. There are other developers still working hard on their projects, including myself and even if I was the last developer left, that wouldn't make me quit. I do Jag dev as long as it's fun to me, as long as i'm interested in it and as long as I have time to do it. But to bo honest, I think even if Thunderbird was flaming often, he was an important part of the jaguar scene. (or still is) Boards like Atari Age (actually atari age has the only real jaguar forum at the moment and the best one too) keep the Jaguar scene alive and together. It might sound strange, but I think even flame wars can help to keep the fans together. There are some people who thought Tbirds flame wars were funny and entertaining sometimes. I'm not saying it's good that Tbird flamed so many people, but he still is an important part of the scene. You just need to know that you shouldn't take everything serious that he says. If he insulted you, just overread it or post something funny as reply. And if it all gets to rough, just change the topic or stop posting in that topic. Jaguar Interactive 2 seems to be dead as a Jag forum these days and I think that is because most jag fans moved to Atari Age. However after the flame wars on JI2 stopped, the other posts got a lot less as well and now there are almost not posts for weeks. (I couldn't reach JI2 lately, but I guess that's only temporary, right ?) Well, basically I just wanted to say that: 1)Jaguar developement is NOT over, there are many other developers including myself who work hard on their projects. 2)Even though Thunderbird had a few bad sides, he also had good ones. Regards, Lars.
  3. Hi Curt ! That are awesome news !!! Making new Jag CD games without requiring a CD Bypass would be so awesome !!! Any idea when those downloads will be available ? Regards, Lars.
  4. Hi ! There are many possible answers to that question... Maybe it is possible that the alien do that and it just happens so rarely that nobody has ever seen it. Or maybe it was done in the prototype version and later cut out of the final version just like so many other features ? (Including the Knife and Body Armor and the ability to shoot boxes to gain extras, etc) Or it is simply too long ago and he mixed up what he actually did and what he would have liked to do Regards, Lars.
  5. Hi ! The 3DO came out in early 93. The CDi came out in 90. The CDi is also based on the 68k like the Jag and even the CDi dev software was written by the same people as the Jag dev software (brainstorm). However many people might mistake the 3DO and CDi. Big mistake. The CDi can't be compared to CDi. CDi was an early system that had almost no good games at all and just became known because of the video cds. The 3DO however was a really revolutionary system. It has a fast ARM60 CPU, two GPUs, 3D hardware, two independent bus systems to both GPUs and hardware compression. 3 MB RAM. The processors of the whole system are always running in parrallel to gain optimal performance. The 3DO had over 300-400 games released for it and has many hit games. Including some of the best ports (like samurai showdown, super street fighter) and also many great titles were born on the 3DO (gex, need for speed, return fire, road rash, hell, killing time, etc) Overall the 3DO had the potential to be a great game system, however it was much too expensive. Regards, Lars.
  6. Hi Guys ! I posted this in the marketplace forum already. I know there are some 3DO fans and collectors on this forum, so I thought I'd post this offer here. I'm thinking about possibly selling my 3DO FZ10 Video Cartridge, because I need money. (For my Jag projects btw) It took me almost forever to find one of these as they are very rare. I've actually only seen those on ebay two times so far and it always ended for several hundread dollars. I'm sure most of you know what it is. It's a very rare cartridge that plugs into the side of an panasonic FZ10 3DO unit and enables it to play photocds and video cds. The unit is in good condition and is tested and works fine. Here's you're chance to get it. I have already offers of 120 Euro (about $ 135 ). You're welcome to post your bid in the tread in the marketplace forum or mail me your offer. Btw, I ship international of course (buyer pays shipping), payment has to be done via PayPal. Thanks. Regards, Lars.
  7. Hi ! Yes, like I said it took me almost forever to find one of the panasonic ones, as they are so rare. Here is a picture. Regards, Lars.
  8. Hi ! I'm not sure if it is a prototype, it looks like a final product. But you're right on it that far that the Goldstar ones are rare, but still good to find for $100 (seen it on a 3DO site some time ago for that price) or so. The Panasonic FZ10 version however is very very rare and hard to find. This is taken from the 3DO FAQ: "[3.4] Was the MPEG add-on released? A: Apparently, the Panasonic MPEG add on was released through 3DO Direct on a very limited basis with a pricetag of 249 dollars. It is unknown how many of these were sold, or how many were produced." Regards, Lars.
  9. Hi Guys ! The current higest offer is €120 that's about $135. If somebody wants to make an higher offer to get this rare items and support my projects, feel free to do it. Thanks to everybody who sends me offers. Regards, Lars.

  11. Hi ! Yes, sadly the Jag Cinepak isn't like the PC cinepak. The only way to create Jag Cinepaks are the Macintosh tools. Thunderbird, I tried the mac emulators as well some months ago. No Luck. I could get one (don't remember which one) to convert a quicktime file to jag cinepak I think, but I didn't get it from the emulators "harddisc image" to the real pc harddisc, so I can't say if the conversion was really working. I didn't get error messages or crashes at least, but still I think it's pointless to experiment with the emulators. Getting a mac is the only way I guess and I don't think it's worth the effort if you don't have one already. I think it's really a shame that atari didn't port the cinepak tools to PC. Regards, Lars.
  12. Hi ! Now that two new Jag games are going to be available soon. (Mad Bodies and Painter), just out of curiosity would you rather pay more for a game on a professional mastered cd with lable and maybe a package like Painter for example (no idea in what package mad bodies will be sold) or do you prefer low cost new games as only CDR with a homeprinted lable ? Maybe this is also a good chance to ask Terance, in what package will Mad Bodies be sold ? Do you have a release date yet ? Regards, Lars.
  13. Hi Guys ! I'm selling a PAL Jag with AvP, cables and controller. This is mainly interesting to those who live in europe I think... http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...item=2743352511 Here's you're chance to get it cheap. Ends tomorrow already. Regards, Lars.s
  14. Hi ! I once did a complete font set for myself for Starcat Developments. It's not exactly the Jaguar font, but similar. And I also did a rendering of the Jaguar Logo, so I can render it and that way have a Jag logo at any size I like. Btw, I think there never was a complete font, just the few letters that were necessary. Regards, Lars.
  15. Hi ! Thanks guys for the congrats. To lais: It was a lot of fun to do the covers for MyAtari. Regards, Lars.
  16. Hi ! Thanks Guys. It was a great day. To Thunderbird: I got GameCube Games. I had the GameCube already. Regards, Lars.
  17. Hi ! Thanks for the congrats. I'm 18 now. I got some GameCube games and some money. Regards, Lars.
  18. Hi Stone ! Where did you get that info ? I mailed him a few times to help him out with infos. And he always said that he was also working on CD stuff. He even got a few games to boot, but I don't know how the progress is at the moment. I guess he focusses on cart games at the moment. But CD is definately also on his list. Regards, Lars.
  19. Hi ! Yes, I wondered about this some time ago as well. And the truth is, a Jaguar looks like this. http://www.atariage.com/forums/download.php?id=10227 However this, is no Jaguar, but a black panther. http://www.atariage.com/forums/download.php?id=10258 Many people mistake black panthers for jaguars but that's wrong. Books on the biology of cats can really be useful to answer such questions. I guess the black panther idea is still a remain from the Panter project, that later involved into the final Jag. Anyway, I love both Panthers and Jaguars (and basically all cats in general), so it's both fine to me. Regards, Lars.
  20. Hi Thunderbird ! I think if somebody wants to program the Jag, he should at least know the most common color depths, afterall even the average PC player knows (and I would consider the term "pc player" an insult these days) the difference between 8-bit colour (256 colours), 16-bit colour (65k colours) and 24-bit colour (16.8 million colours). Especially if he even thinks about doing something like GTA on the Jag which would even be hard for an experienced Jag coder that has done more than 2 top games. And an experienced Jag coder probably wouldn't even think about doing a GTA type of game, because he knows how tiny the chance is that something like that gets finished. Just as an example: If a professional team of 20 people needs one year for a game, a single person needs at least 20 years to do the same thing. (If he is a great at all the things needed for a game, like graphics, sound, code, design etc. Otherwise it might even take longer.) The GTA team was probably even bigger and definately full of professionals that were great at what they did. Note: This post shouldn't be attacking anybody. So if anybody feels offended, sorry. Regards, Lars.
  21. Hi ! >even my brother called the atari jaguar 16bit graphics. Actually most Jag graphics ARE 16-Bit. 24-Bit was hardly used. A lot of in game graphics of the games are even 8-bit color. 8-bit sprites on 16-bit background is very common on the Jag. But I don't see anything bad about that. The jag is from 1993. And 16-bit is more than enough for any Jag game. Today the systems are powerful enough and have enough memory to use 24-bit or 32-bit graphics. But a few years ago, like on the DC area or so, 16-Bit was also the most common. Regards, Lars.
  22. Hi ! Hmmm, sorry, but I don't see what's wrong with the article. What they say is true. The management at atari did a lot of mistakes and really had did some strange decisions. And if you compare the Jag sales to the sales of PSX or systems like that, the Jag looks like a flop of course. And that only about 10 % of the jag fans have Jag cds... could be. So what's so bad about the article ? I've read articles that really make the Jag look bad, but this one is still fair. To dragonforce: How can you be so sure that they never played the Jag ? Besides it's quite easy to get an idea how the Jag is when it comes to games, because most Jag games were ports and if they know the games on other systems they can get an idea how the games on the Jag are. Actually maybe it's even an advantage if they don't know the Jag versions, a lot of the ports were better on their original platform. Just to name a few: syndicate, theme park, worms, myst and others. They are much better on PC for example, because they can be played with a mouse, which is a huge improvement. And syndiate and theme park also offer a much higher speed and better save features in the PC versions. Wolfenstein 3D is also available for many systems and very similar on all systems, except a few versions like the PC version or the SNES version which is a lot worse (graphic wise) than the Jag version. Regards, Lars.
  23. Hi Guys ! I own many systems, but at the Game Cube is of course my favorite. It's very small, cool looking, silent, cheap, great quality product (never had any problems or even heard of problems), great controller (although the PS2 controller is great as well, they both are very similar), low loading times and the most important thing of all a more and more growing library of tons of incredible games. And also tons of great exclusive games no real gamer should ever miss. I bought the cube about a month after it came out here in Germany and it turned out to be probably the best decision I ever made when it comes to buying systems. Regards, Lars.
  24. Hi Guys ! Just in case anybody cares (unlikely, as this is not really jag related) I picked up an brand new amiga mouse instead. Works great. Just needed to swap pin 1 and 4. Regards, Lars.
  25. Hi Guys ! I know this is a bit off topic, but does anybody have an Atari ST mouse in new condition (or at least very good condition) that he wants to sell cheap ? Regards, Lars.
