  1. I am offering my point of view. Stop going after me as a person. I respect you and your coding skills and you seem like a really nice person. If this is an exercise to hone your coding skills, or you are having a lot of fun coding this game, keep on going. If you think you are fulfilling a missing niche in the Atari 2600 catalog, you probably aren't.
  2. I never coded an Atari game, but I coded a mod for Tribes 2 about twenty years ago. I also ran the game servers and moderated the PHPBB forums for the community. I was in my 30s at the time and I was dealing with a lot of teenagers. I developed a lot of patience and a thick skin when dealing with very emotional players.
  3. I thoroughly enjoyed the Parker Brothers' version of Frogger. I kept playing it even after I got the nearly arcade-perfect SuperCharger version. Atari's Pac-man was a rushed mess, and I didn't care for it. Remaking that was a lot more understandable, especially after we saw was capable with Ms. Pac-man. I also liked the remake of Defender that was sold by AtariAge. I am still curious as to what @splendidnut comes up with, but I will be judging it against the Parker Brothers and SuperCharger versions. Both of those versions were very important in my youth, so I may be a bit harsh.
  4. Is it possible to make a reproduction of a SuperCharger game using a Melody Cart? I was able to play the Starpath version of Frogger on my Harmony Encore, but not sure if that automatically means it can be burned onto a Melody Cart. Thanks.
  5. Can you put the SuperCharger version on a melody cart? I can run the game on my Harmony Encore. Does Melody Cart count as extended hardware?
  6. Maybe @Albert will pop in and give us a ruling on a Melody cart of a SuperCharger game.
  7. It is intermittent with me. Sometimes a .bin file is blocked for me, sometimes not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  8. I appreciate the effort and I am impressed with your coding chops. But we don't need another Frogger. It is possible to make a cartridge out of the SuperCharger version if that is the goal.
  9. I don't think it is the .bin extension because it is intermittent. Some kind of signature within the file, probably.
  10. It's a problem with the browser, not with the file. The same thing is happening with the Paddlefield game. I get a false positive with both Firefox and Chrome. Firefox lets me bypass the warning.
  11. Fantastic! On to game variation 9. The folks behind this did a wonderful job. Judging by the winky emoji, I suspect you know why... 😁
  12. Hey, thanks! I just had to find the modded roms. Currently 17th on Berzerk. It's a shame you can't force a game variation on players. I can play game variation 1 on Berzerk for forever.
  13. I just got a PlusCart. How do I generate an HSC postfix so I can log in to the high-score club page?
  14. If not ball battles, how about BATTLE BALLS? You have your double entendre intact here.
  15. "Ball" isn't copyrighted as far as I know. So "Ball Battle" or "Ball Breaker" Here is a list of almost all Pong clones from back in the day. There might be some inspiration on here. https://www.pong-story.com/mypongs.htm
  16. Firefox lets you proceed to download after it gives you a warning. I recommend using this browser for this. It's the workaround that I use.
  17. Did read the above post? No more cartridges. Your only choices are multicart (e.g. Harmony), Stella, or find someone to make a reproduction. Albert can make reproductions, but I doubt he'll do this game.
  18. Looks like you missed the release window. What does PD mean? If you are looking for a download, you can try the RC3 version. It's the complete game.
  19. It was released on the AtariAge store. It has since been removed. There were copyright issues.
  20. Have a speed penalty if you miss the ball. I like the 2nd mock-up with the paddle on the back wall. I am really curious how this plays out.
  21. I like the idea of this becoming a paddle game. Assuming I am interpreting earlier posts correctly, that may not be possible?
  22. Spitballing some ideas... To keep it simple. If it hits your paddle, it goes fast. If you miss it, it still bounces back, but at about half speed. You can make the paddle get progressively smaller with each hit. The paddle's size is reset on a miss. A win is when a path is cleared to the other side. I don't think you need to have your ball touch the other side.
