Combat came in the box (light sixer, still have it). I bought Space Invaders at the same time. My sister bought Breakout soon thereafter. This was early 1979.

Looky. The price I paid is on that page. You might have a hard coded multi-cart. The one I bought is the flash USB multi-cart.

Just got my multi-cart today. Seems to work just fine. The inability to go back to the menu without shutting down bugs me to.

I had to buy new rollers for my trackballs when I first got my cabinet. They were well warn. Then the new rollers had to go through some breaking in. Like I said, this is my favorite game. I played Marble Madness a *lot* when it first came out. Oh yeah, my actual high score is 171,990... again on very easy with a dummy 2nd player.

Here is a blog post about my geek room (with a picture). Another blog post from when I took my Atari 2600 out of storage. There are 80 more games underneath the console in that picture. I have a touch over 100 games.

Hows about this: Small unit... something you can velcro to the side of your TV if you desire. This unit would have ample flash memory (256MB?) in it and be able to connect to your intraWeb connection. Controllers would be wireless. Download games that you want into your system for a one time fee. I'm just thinkin' out loud here...

I have a MM cabinet at home (at work now). If you want to have a little competition, let me know. I believe my high score is around 160,000... playing on the very easy setting with a dummy 2nd player. This is my favorite arcade game of all-time.

Let's see, Space Invaders came out for Christmas of '78. That was when I decided I must have and Atari. My parents didn't get it for me for Christmas, so I had to use my own hard earned dollars to buy it in early '79. That would make me 14 at the time. -
Take advantage of two player games while you have someone around. Space invaders had cooperative modes. Surround is a fun two player game. Even good ol' combat is good for a few chuckles.

wouldn't that be cheating if we used a map? For a purest, yes. Since it can't be enforced in a contest like this, making it allowable makes sense. I made a map back in the day (long since lost). I am glad I don't have to recreate the map for this week long contest. In order to get a top score, you need to do it without a map anyway.
