  1. i thought id come here to ask anyone who might now about the name of specific apple ii game i played in school.

we played this game alongside lemonade stand and oregon trail, so it may have come out at the same time

basically the game is to teach you how to use the apple ii and is broken down into 25 mini games with the goal of each one to teach one specific point, for example, how to use the open apple key, etc.

one thing i remember not so clearly, is that the 25th game is a full sized game of some sort, but class always ran out of time before you could get to it!

    any one know?

    thanks

  2. For sale is a modded 7800 which i got done from electronic sentimentalities. Hooked up to an old CRT thru av cables it looks and plays great. the serial number x201 series, points to it being a very very late run model, in 1990 or 1991 perhaps at the very very end.

Also i have 2 100% brand new atari 7800 (CX78) joypads. one has never been taken out of the wrapping and the other was used literally only once and it works fine.

also included is an atari trackball, with box, but no styrofoam inserts. trackball is like new, only used a few times and is working.

there also the original ac adaptor and some av cables as well

    also all of these games

    2600

    summer games

    et

    combat

    name this game

    midnight magic

    jr pacman

    pressure cooker

    name this game

    galaxian

    ms pac man

    pacman

    atlantis

    space attack

    frogs and flies

    7800

    galaga

    food fight

    pole position 2

    donkey kong

    donkey kong jr

    f 18 hornet

    super skateboardin

    choplifter

    asteroids

one thing to note is that i live in japan and these games will be shipped from japan. sorry no but none of the games are 2800 versions, i just brought them over with me is all. this means shipping will be rather high and take longer than usual.

HOWEVER********* as a way to show my appreciation for your patience i will include some japan only game related items (not software) as a bonus!

so the final price is 250$ with shipping included ( shipping is expected to be about 8000 yen on my side, or about 85$ because of size and weight

  3. my friend has a copy of black and white

my friend also has a semi new pc

    athlon 1600

    480 mb of ram

    ge force 2 card

    enough hard drive space

so you see the system seems adequate yet there is this problem

the gameplay continually is jerky and there are jagged lines that extend from the ground into the sky in the game.

i changed the game settings to the lowest possible, still the same problem happens!

now at his parents house the game ran fine, just on this pc. so it makes me wonder.

anyone have any advice on what to tell them? he gets pretty frsutrated easily on computers and even thre a fit when the mouse wouldnt work then i unplugged it and re plugged it and it was like a miracle, since he dismissed the computer as broken!!

anyway anything anyone can offer to help us out of this jam id appreciate

  4. they only way a nintendo hand held game system will have a backlight is if an equally or more powerful one eats away at ithe 100% markesae enough to wake them up and realize they will lose that market

I can tell you exactly why Nintendo doesnt put backlights in their portable systems. Every portable system that had a backlight failed. They consume too much power. And this is exactly why Nintendo owns most of the portable market. Why would they risk it? Nintendo has no competition in the portable market. Sony isnt going to release a system that uses carts as a medium and Microsoft already announced that they will support the GBA.

As for Nintendo taking a half step forward in technology, thats crazy. The GameCube is a lot more advanced than the PS2 and uses better technology than the XBOX. Have you ever heard of " S3TC Compression"? Its a hardware ability that allows the GC to compress textures at a 6:1 ratio. Or how about 1T-SRAM? If anything its Sony that took a step back in technology. Come on, 4 mb of video ram :lolblue: . Thats ridicules . Even the N64 had the capability to have that much. And 2 controller ports! The XBOX while it is very powerful, it is just a dumbed down PC.

ok, when someone makes a backligh tha does not drain power like crazy (someday !!) then it will force nintendos hand

the half step is that the discs are half the size of dvd's haha

bu it still gets me super mad that they just wont go with the flow

hell i bet if they never saw a VCS they would still be making game and watches only or if never saw a video game would still be making cards only.

  5. ze ro

what i am saying though is that it seems nintndo only wants to take a step (half step!) forawrd in technology when it is only ABSOLUTLEY possible. had they could get away with carts for gamecube i think they would have done that. they only way a nintendo hand held game system will have a backlight is if an equally or more powerful one eats away at ithe 100% markesae enough to wake them up and realize they will lose that market. true in 1992 cd add ons were all the rage but not needed so i could see how they kept pushing it back and back and back until only a year ago when they finally gave it and did it.

as ar as controlling 3rd parties its teh same. they realized that they would be a 1st party system only if they werent a little more free with thier game makers, so its like they are just too relectant to move forward

same with the add on. why does sega waste their time?! make pso only for xbox and ps2 since they obviously want to make online for thier systems a reality

when they do get around to making changes and games they are great but its just such a long process

again may i quote howard lincoln when i say "the world isn't ready for 16 bit"

  6. while the ps2 might be the thing most hooked up to tv's i see it this way , that its a 3 way tie, if you look at it in a larger scale

sony has a lock on the home game market, its true

nintendo has had a handheld monoply since day one

microsoft has the pc os market basically

so i see it that way and each get thier money from what they do best, or in MS case, whatthey make the most $ from! :P

  7. Most PeeCee users know no other OS (which is exactly what MS wants).

when i am at work and a custmer has a problem. we like to know what OS they have to narrow things down and get to he problem fast as possible

so i ask " what is your operating system?" (i said OS the first day i was there and gave that up right quick!)

they say " um i got a dell" or " i have a pentium 4" or " i have outlook 2000 " or "im stupid so i dont know know what you mean" (this is what someone actually said once)

so i woudl say " its sort of what runs yor computer it can be windows, macintosh, linux or DOS and there are others"

after about a month i just said "what kind of windows do you have" and i still have people that have no clue! :x

its true that microsoft has the bankroll needed to be competitive but the XBOX just has this "extreeeme" "this game kicks my own ass" tyoe of feeling with everyone i know (real or on boards) who has one. it seems as if when you buy an XBOX you get a free slipknot hat and pantera gets to come to your house and play it while you and your friends dye and braid your goatees and act all mad at the world, but hay XBOX RULEZZZZZZZZ!!! i hate X factor in anything at all. and that keeps me away from them.

  8. If you're talking 3-D in general, Pole Position 2, Klax and Fatal run gotcha covered there....  If you're talking a Doom-esq type game.  That's an interesting question...

wouldnt those games still be 2d? i mean you can go left/right and forward but not left/rigth up and down forwards and backwards no?

  9. Well I could either defend the younger gamers(as I am one of the younger gamers) or agree with all of you.  Well I will have to agree with all of you.  Except for a few people, many of the younger gamers are ignorant when it comes to retro gaming.  A person at school today had on an Atari shirt, but yet he's NEVER played NOR seen ANY Atari system.  It pissed me off so bad, I couldn't stand it.

you think thats bad , i got to COLLEGE, where some one should be old enought to know what atari at least is

well i had an atari shrt on and i bumped into some skater punk that also had one i asked him "do you play?" thinking hed instantly say yes or no, he looked at me and squinted, i hate when people do that but thats another story.. than i said "like videogames?" and he said something to the effect of how extreme the x box was and coudlnt waitto go online and blah blah.."

  10. Atari Ken64- Yea you are right the SNES does have a Sony sound processor. Actually many systems had them like the Genesis and some of the NES's.

The N64 was originaly a CD system but at the last minute Nintendo changed formats and that is why Squaresoft didnt support them.

As for the GC minidiscs- Piracy is a big problem in the media industry and it will take hackers some time before they figure out a way to get around them. They will eventually find out a way though because they did it on the once thought impossible GDROM's. Nintendo also used mini discs to keep the cost down because of the royalties you have to pay for DVD players.

true but doesnt game cube a dvd type lazer for it?

i know piracy is big time, jus ask my brother with his 250+downloaded burned-labled-cased playations games, dontworry all mine are orginals

but it seems like the other companies seemed to put technology above all else. sure cds are way easier to crack than a cartidge but there is a time to move on, same with gameboy /battery life/ black and white till 1998 issue when the other handhelds released 1990 or so were all color (cept gamecom haha) and that what makes me mad at nintendo more than the 1985-1990 monopoly or the delay after delay after delay, another other company woudl have sunk, and a couple that tried to keep up(atari sega snk nec) did anyways so its amazing they are still around, guess they are still die hard fans out there.

good games yes, good management i guess so. good way of keeping a stick up there butt? yes but thats still not good  its the main reason why after the snes cd got canned i just cant be enthused by anything from them

of course while i cant see a step beyond dvd -rom for the forseeable future nintendo's new stick up the butt strategy is to not develop a system for the 2006 battle like sony microsoft and i bet a newcomer are doing and would rather stick to the game cube. to me thats real smart! but i guess time will tell.

  11. i remeber it was around 1993 in some game mag, someone worte in asking about the power of the gameboy, (i suppose he thought since it had no color it had no X bit processor??) well the response was that the game goy was 8 bit and that yes even the 2600 was 8 bit, and showed a picture of e t to go along with it!

god i wanted to punch everyone in the face that told me atari sucked because it was 4 bits and the nes was 8, just because he number goes in mutiples of 2 doesnt make you an expert or the "bit police" :x :x :x :x

as far as the bit debate i owned both a pc engine and jaguar in thier hey day ( the word DAY being key haha) and i hated everyone teling me my systems specs werent right, sigh. well my brother thought sega cd was "64 bit" because it could show FMV" i had to explain to im that FMV sint determined by "bits" and is really more of a trick on the eyes if nothing else haha

but can there actually be a 4 bit machine? ive never heard of one.
