Hello, It's been quite a long time since I last posted anything here. There is a good reason for that, I've been quite occupied with making websites and other IT related stuff. We've also spent quite a bit of time in creating our website from scratch. You can find it here: Mindsoft IT solutions . Our english pages are still under construction but we are working on the translations. Either way you can get a feel of what we do. What does this mean for my Atari stuff. Well things are getting back on track after the learning curve and change of schedule and general frenzy etc so I am getting back. In the good news is that we've got experienced technicians that are skilled with the soldering iron so I'll finally replace my Falcon's dead NVRAM chip and we will document the process .

SDK / Dev Kit / C or C++ compiler
Christos replied to GadgetUK's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
The most common setup should be either gcc as dml said or vbcc that some other people use. GCC is mostly used for OS related programming and vbcc for games and demos. The setup also consists of an emulator, either steem or hatari depending on the target machine. Most coders drink water in the name of the STEEM debugger. -
Facebook Is Killing My Web Site
Christos commented on Random Terrain's blog entry in Random Terrain's Tetraternarium
That's because google doesn't count different profiles as different websites. However social links do matter and quite a bit in page ranking. I assume you've installed google analytics so it should be on traffic sources->social. -
And those are the specs for it! : Atari port of Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, ... n/a Falcon 060, 64 MB RAM See below. Some videos from Atari [email protected] MHz ([email protected] MHz videobus): Atari Quake 1.00, Atari Duke Nukem 3D 1.00 (bad audio settings). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXHkx4k1mkQ

And you get it to have approximately 30 more MB's of RAM and the equivalent of 66MHz 68060 to get 15fps.

What are some games you wish you could get on the Jag?
Christos replied to 82-T/A's topic in Atari Jaguar
Actually, Turrican uses a few ST tricks and it would be quite difficult to port. If a porting effort is to be made I'd go for lighter but great ST games that don't try to do any clever tricks. But I think CJ will be better to tell you which ones those are. -

Amiga games would be much harder to convert than ST ones because one would have to rewrite a lot of the custom chip code. -
It's much smoother on the falcon you know... ah those patches.

BASIC on the jag - Is it feasible?
Christos replied to GroovyBee's topic in Atari Jaguar Programming
Yep, I've converted a couple of programs with minor syntax changes and they worked flawlessly. It would be nice to have! -

X11 Basic also converts to C. Maybe that's also feasible? Take a look GB.. http://x11-basic.sourceforge.net/ -
It's prima donnas (or prime donne if you want to be bit more accurate) actually.

Back After A Very Long Time! What Have I Missed?! :)
Christos replied to Falconer's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Falcon or ST? If all you've been away for is seven years as far as falcon is concerned you haven't missed that much, not much have been going on. A few demos here and there, three or four games and a lot of GEM software that also runs on ST's but needs a falcon to really show itself. On the hardware side, there is the CT63 accelerator and adjacent cards like the CTPCI that allows you to connect a PCI Radeon graphics card and perhaps a couple of other cards, and the Supervidel that some are eagerly awaiting that is a videl compatible graphics card and also has ethernet support. Other than that, there is Falcon clone, called the Firebee but still lacks a few things to be really called falcon compatible. Those can be upgraded by firmware though, as soon as they are ready. For the ST, there's a lot more stuff happening but I'll let other people get to them. In the meantime welcome back, looking forward to any stories you may have to share and to anything you might want to contribute to the community. -
I think that if you were a member of the TSCC you would remember (and most likely be german ) . Furthermore I don't know of any demo by TSCC that has the name shamen and pouet wasn't much help in finding any demo that was called shamen. What was your crew name at that time?

Yes, 100 DPI it is Also if you are using a PeST adapter or similar and an optical mouse, or even a good wheel mouse, Impulse is very hard to control on the falcon. You can also see the effect of the bat jumping back if you move it too fast. It's a game that's definitely made for STM1 (btw why the 1, they never released 2).

No you didn't step on any toes. You just said that an equivalent to whdload isn't available for the ST. So it's not strange to ask you why you said that and what features of whdload are missing from ULS.
-
So in what way is ULS lacking compared to whdload?
-
Well ULS is much like whdload technology wise. The main difference is in the mode of distribution. In whdload you download the program, the patches and the games on your own, while with ULS everything is included in one download.

You can use an alternative desktop like teradesk or KKCommander.

Too bored to actually run a FFT on bubsy so here's this image:

ST \ STE game rarity guide, does anything exist?
Christos replied to Chandler's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Key word: console markets -
Input data information on ST graphics.
Christos replied to JagChris's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
You could use True Paint to do the conversion. For speed I'd suggest to run it under Aranym though it wouldn't slow you much if you do it on a Falcon. -
ST \ STE game rarity guide, does anything exist?
Christos replied to Chandler's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
No, because there is no point. You can download any game and there aren't any atari st collectors as you would know them from the console market. -
Watching it is enough to convince you. I liked the Doom ad and the AvP one.

Just for the record, ghostlink and parcp are more like ftp than a hard disk, in the sense that you can't execute programs remotely. Also a 520 ST isn't a good choice to add a hard drive too, it has too little memory to be really useful. You need at least 1MB of RAM but 2.5 are necessary to be comfortable. If I were you, I'd look for an STE, add 4MB and an HD solution.

Hmmm, let me see: ace tracker: http://newbeat.atari.org/main.php some demos: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3192 http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=1177
