You mean something like APE? Yeah, there's a program called GhostLink... You run the master program on the ST and the slave on a DOS PC hooked with a null modem cable. The ST will now read the PC's drive like it's own. It uses the serial port so it's quite slow, but still works.
Ghostlink won't let you run executables and it's only for filetransfer.

Yeah it can. You don't really get the best internet experience but it works. Good ideas are to not load images and use a resolution with 2 or if you really want 16 colours. It's ok for IRC and email but not for www.

Chris, I saw your post on js2 where you posted a screen shot of the counter on this thread. The counters are not always reliable, don't take it that nobody even clicked on this link and nobody finds it interesting - how did 4 people [like] it if nobody read it?

EDIT: there you go, as soon as I replied, the read counter went up to 192... might be a bug in the forum software.
Nah, you just hit refresh 191 times and you know it!

No, it's both the HD drive and a mod at the fdc.

Why not just Object processor, 68000 (or 020), a blitter and an actual real dsp? That would make a lot more sense. TOM after all is the buggiest of all the chips and the only one that noone could actually program.
And you don't even have to go to the 56K line of DSP's which were expensive. A cheaper one would do just fine.

Its 1993, you're in charge of the Jag, what do you do?
Spend all my money on hookers & blow, and let the market take the Jaguar wherever it may!
Just like Atari!
I thought that was what Escom did with the amiga!

Please show us the way and follow their example.

It takes too much time to develop something that pushes the hardware when you are working full time on that project. It takes a lot more time when you do it on your spare time. And at some point instead of a fun thing to do, it becomes another boring and stressful job.

I think not. Maybe the jaguar people are more knowledgeable on the subject.

There is one thing that needs to be remembered though. The ST was a big success!

They are really nice pictures! How did you draw them?

I think I'll have a go at making a very simple slideshow for the st, if that's ok with you.

It's a bit of an ambitious project. You will most certainly develop skills to make it. Just note that an 8MHz st isn't very good for texture mapping, and neither is the amiga. Good luck though

My ct63 is in the original case.

French STE's didn't have a modulator. Maybe some early american ones didn't either... A photo of the side with the EJP's could help. If it's an ste it should be an old model with maybe the bad DMA chip and perhaps SIPPs instead of SIMMS which would make upgrading to 4mb's a pain.

Falcamp? It forces it to mono when there isn't enough cpu time.
-
It's 5% alright, but only if you have a 060. On a normal falcon, a 128KBps mp3 is about 60-70% cpu. A 64KBps one doesn't use cpu at all. The most my falcon managed to play was a 160KBps mp3. Those numbers fall enough if you use an external 44.1KHz clock, there is no need for resampling.

Yeah it's pretty cool. Basic lab equipment case, should protect enough from rf interference. Unfortunately metals allow certain EM frequences to penetrate them and since a nuclear blast would have an EMP on a broad spectrum and thuss destroy it...

I am not very happy with an ide2sd adapter i got but i believe people have better luck with compact flashes. The sd card is very fast when reading, but very slow on writting, i believe it has to do with the way the OS handles the writes to the harddisk. Most adapters and cards would work i believe.

There is an internal hard drive on the first picture, and that's probably why the floppy is not working, the hard drive is broken.
-
I've never seen that. Are there any other upgrades to the mainboard? About the floppy, unplug the internal ide disk and try again.
-
If the clock battery is dead it will default into USA english. The previous owner might have done that though for other reasons. TOS 4 is multilingual. Try to install devices from the options(?) menu and see what happens. Also alt+c will open the contents of a c: drive in a window.

Did you plug a cartridge on? Jaguar's won't start without a cartridge

Can Atari Falcons still get on the internet?

The usefulness of online access for an atari is for very few limited things. Getting a file, and reading documentation while developing. Also having an irc client running while developing can help very much as well.
