    Jaguar 2

The irony of arguing against something once promoted doesn't elude me but people change their minds, I guess sometimes very often. On a related fpga note, the suska board is now available, as well as the ACP. On an unrelated note, I've stopped expecting consistency. One would need infinite memory to maintain that and the human brain just doesn't work like that. Plus if you take chaos theory into account, a small inconsistency leads to much larger ones given time and iterations
  2. And I forgot to say.. my 130XE is sent to a friend pending some keyboard repair. That one was turned on only once or twice after the falcon was bought... since 1995 that is.
  3. Falcon CT63. Used to be main computer. Now is waiting for me to stop playing freespace source code project . Haven't done anything on it for a week or so which reminds me there are a couple of s/w I need to test... MegaSTE: Has some problem with the shifter I think. Currently on a self, hasn't been ran for ages since it awaits for space to be set up.
  4. Right, Nature have finished the development of supervidel! This graphics card provides high and colourful resolutions of up to 1900x1200 in 32-bit colour, dual screens, a very fast super blitter and it's fully backwards compatible to the falcon's videl. Here's a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJW2eH-ZunE Link: http://nature.atari.org
  5. As I promised some time ago, we have released the issue 4 of our free web based magazine. This time it features a lot of event reports, the unveilling of our new logo by Greyfox (whom we'd like to thank once again) and the usual view on the atari st scene and community. Also work has started on our 5th issue with some surprises. Hopefully I'll be able to let some of them sneak in as they are being completed. As usual I should say what I have written, because this is a personal blog after all! A guide on how to record videos using the aforementioned easycap dc60 and windows. A review of the new ST game by paradize, Kolmik A top 10 of ST indie games. I reallly wanted to make a video out of this article but a. my video editing skills aren't where I want them, b. I am not sure many of my viewers would appreciate my greek accent . So go ahead and read it. All we want is your time and some comments -good and especially bad (when they come from good intentions). http://lowresmag.wordpress.com/
  6. - mapping and only in 512bytes. Isn't that amazing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU0Vq6vYslo
  7. The Low Res team is proud to announce that issue #4 of the Low Res blog mag is now online. surf to: //lowresmag.wordpress.com/ We hope you enjoy the read and if you want to contribute with articles, reviews or anything else just go ahead and tell us! We appreciate your feedback!
  8. Wouldn't it be better if you asked at dhs bbs?
  9. The way I read into things it will be quite hard to get everything back. In the mean time AF is losing its userbase and new users that come from google. I understand that there's a lot of work involved to get the backup up again but I think that will be the only viable option.
  10. You should have gone for the jaguar then. That way you'd have the thrill of PvP battles and the satisfaction that you get from finding a rare item. Only downsides are that the world is very small so there is very little exploring and you might end up doing a lot of grinding.
  11. Not CP/M, DR-DOS if I understood that correctly.
  12. Does that mean that you are in no position to restore a backup, even the December 4 one?
  13. Are you sure you are remembering this correct? Let me explain what happened when I did this: -P It could be that you also need to replace the TOS with 2.06... you should be right.
  14. http://sndh.atari.org/sndh/sndh_lf/Whittaker_David/Xenon.sndh then load it at winjam: http://www.creamhq.de/ you can then record it to wav through the record button and convert it to mp3 with your favourite encoder. Lame works pretty well: http://lame.sourceforge.net/
  15. The Atari TT isn't a graphics workstation but a workstation. And the blitter isn't really helping there. You can get much better performance from the cpu. Some users have replaced their 68000 with a 68010 and experienced very few to zero problems.
  16. None on the horizon. I want to keep the Falcon in its own case and do not know how to fit an AT power supply into the case. Cheers, Thomas You can fit a pico psu, that way it stays in the original case. I've got a pc psu outside of it though. That is exactly how it is with mine, too. One curiosity though. When I am using Kobold to copy files (no verify) around, even large amounts (10s of MB), then the read and the write speed are A-OK and about the same. Cheers, Thomas I guess it all comes down to the OS routines. I get a better result with mint on the 060 but that's with using a very large cache.
  17. yeap... there a huge amount of information on this cheapo MIC SD-card reader on www.Atari-Forums.com (it's down now) as well as the version that does master/slave. I am still regretting buying mine... Very fast to read, but so slow to write...
  18. Hddriver 7 should recognise it. About networking, once you setup, transfering files happens really easy with an ftp client and an ftp server running on one of your pc's. It's pretty nice and fast. And since you know unix, setting up the network is a breeze. I use dhclient though...
  19. OK, where do I start. It's almost multiple blog entries Floppy: It's 1.44 in all likelyhood. If it's bad you can easily replace it with a pc one as long as you can switch it to D0 from D1 (or the reverse it's been too long). Sony MPF 920's work, got one on my falcon. VGA, it's normal. NVDI, Atari installs are just copies at proper locations. Mac like, it's NVDI. Ethernecs are good and still made. (OK I am lost )
  20. There are some really amazing freeware games for the ST. For example you can't go wrong with stuff like Llamatron, Starball, Cybernoid etc. About old commercial games it's a bit of a grey area as you say, but there are a few that have been allowed out. Atarimania is a good starting point. http://www.atarimania.com/list_games_atari-st-pd-freeware-shareware_licence_9_S_G.html

That's not the biggest issue.. Point and click games are doable with a mouse connected. But the 2MB's of ram and the low cpu speed would make them run at painfully slow speeds, even if you somehow managed to get SDL on the jaguar. Infocom adventures with T9 support are perfectly doable though!
