Well, just tested the tempest mods, on my falcon and falcamp (dspmod) and pc and winamp... The only difference I can pinpoint is due to the bass boost on the falcon (but playing a bit with the subwoofer kind of gave the same result).

While I may not know much about the jag... a mod is a mod. It should sound pretty much the same where ever you play it. Be it on an STE, Amiga, Falcon, PC, Mac.
But musicians are strange people!

I can see 3-4 problems already.
First it's STOS. Unless you are making a puzzler or a turn based strategy it's quite inefficient. The second one is that you are planning to do something that has sideways scrolling (from the concept art). Not a very good idea when we are talking about the ST. Still it can be somewhat overcomed with a lot of effort and for an RPG where fast paced action isn't a requirement. Then I understand you want to use sampled music? Again not a very good idea, even for STE. Try to limit samples to the minimum. Also try to keep in mind that your target group is a 1040ST user without hard drive and it's very easy to break the limit and not realise it (I know). That's about it.

Can't you stream from the CD?
-
It's nice for concept art. Not sure how well it would play out on an ST environment.
About the RPG thing.. I don't like RPG's (except Ishar) so I can't really comment.
-
Why don't you just put a pc drive inside? I would think that in a 314 it would be possible to do that.
-
I don't know.. it wasn't on my disks

Direct to disk recording.

The ST has no problem outputing 60Hz, also many cracks have a 50Hz/60Hz switch. For example on my Falcon with VGA (60Hz), many ST games would work with no problem. Some games which are fixed for 50Hz (not VBL) will have problems, but most won't. What I expect to happen is that most games will default to whatever is being used by the ST at the moment. You should get a high level of compatibility. Also I think that if you are using an ST monitor you will have no problem what so ever. Just give it a shot.
Edit: Also, the Atari ST is NOT a game system, but a computer

Wow!!!!
Let's sum it up:
Democracy == Capitalism. The truth is that they are not really related.
Europeans tend to be more into the oldskool platforms because they can't or won't buy new systems!?
Europeans have just found democracy!!! That can be true for some countries, like mine that legalised the Communist party in 1974 but I doubt it has anything to do with France or the Scandinavian states for example.
Europeans have less money to spend: That may be true in some extend I really don't know what the average American is left with his paycheck at the end of the month.
Switzerland is in the EU. OK that was funny!

To me the best pacman clone for the ST is Crapman by Synergy.. Brilliant
-
I would have loved to come, but it's so close to Outline 08 that I couldn't justify the trip.
-
you can also mount the hard drive on the rf shield. You need to remove the internal speaker though (you would also want to do that).
-
Falcon... VGA is the way to go. You can easily make an adapter. Schematics can be found here. I am extremely jealous but in a helpful and not bitchy mood

No, you need a hardware solution, not software. The reason for this is that contrary to the A8 where the SIO port is the means of communication to the floppy drive, the ST has a floppy controller. So you need a piece of hardware that will emulate a floppy drive or some kind of cable to your pc which will still need to emulate a floppy. In that sense check these two sites:

Though he denied it when asked directly, I remain confident it's Doommaster. Especially considering his adversarial character and some other facts. He will probably come up and say that what I write is because I am an "anti-american bigot" and due to our confrontation in another thread, but that doesn't annoy me a bit. Anyway, a search in www.atari-forum.com and www.amiga.org would yield some results about the behaviour of Doommaster. I would be very cautious. Thank you.Do you know how stupid you look when you mention how confident you are about my identity; especially when you’re 110% wrong? lol This is why I don't like you, plain and simple.
I have never encountered so many assholes in my life on a single message board. I post the store information against the store owner's will, I notice that some of the instigators from this thread come in and read what I've posted, yet none of them are even mature enough to chime in with a simple " Yeah ok, we were wrong" comment. Know what? You people need to grow up a little bit AND pull your heads out of your collective asses.
Nothing would make me happier than being wrong in this case.

[OK, I'll just say that this is the first time I see Godwin's law applied in these forums.. InterestingHow did I know you were going to type that? You're an anti-American bigot Christos; you've proven your bigotry time and time again. Yes, you're a bigot! Sunnyboy is no different with his Americanstyle English comment. You people aren't special; you’re human beings just like the rest of us. It's no secret that Europeans speak 'proper' English but that doesn't give you the right to ridicule someone that lives in the U.S.
If I was going to apply Godwin's law I would have said 'Master' race you stupid fool; don't you know anything? No, wait -- I keep forgetting that you're hell-bent on discrediting me for some reason. My thread was non-confrontational; I asked a simple question and expected answers. The people who turned this into a flamewar should be ashamed of themselves.
There is one thing you need to learn about me: I NEVER back down from a fight.
Bigot? Care to elaborate? Did I say anything anti-american? I honestly can't remember that. Please find the times and times again that I said so. BTW I don't approve SSB's comment either. I am interested. Hell-bent on discrediting you? How so? The only thing I ever wrote "against" you, was that you don't know anything about the ST community, which you admitted, right? Of course you called me a troll... And now a stupid fool... Fascinating!
If I was going to apply Godwin's law I would have said 'Master' race you stupid fool; don't you know anything?OK, let's indulge you that it wasn't a Nazism reference. But if it wasn't a racist comment but personal, why did you use the word race and not person or man or anything? Would you care to elaborate on that?
Thank you.
BTW, how did you reach the conclusion that I consider myself superior to anyone? Can you find the referance?
-
I apologize for not using simple Americanstyle English.
Move aside! The superior race has entered the room! lolWhat is that supposed to mean?
It means Simmon boy needs to come down off his perch; he's no better than anyone else.
OK, I'll just say that this is the first time I see Godwin's law applied in these forums.. Interesting

Well, an internal hard drive board would be much more expensive and hard (it would require quite a bit of soldering). There are such solutions. Using ghostlink also is not feasable for anything other than transferring files. Ghostlink doesn't allow executing programs remotely. Basically the cheapest solution is HDDriver and Satandisk. It's unfortunate that SD isn't AHDI compatible, which I believe should have been the case. Last but not least, there is an external cartridge port solution.
And zip drives won't work as you plan sorry. You will need a scsi zip setup...
-
And you draw your conclusion on what evidence? Nice flamebait, btw -- I can tell you're an expert at being a board troll. icon_wink.gifLet's see... how about you have no idea who is who in the ST scene? Or how about what's the current state of things in the ST community? Oh and about the expert troll part... people's history speaks for itself
No but you'll spend $50 on some Atari 2600 homebrew. lol There is something wrong with your logic. icon_wink.gifAnd you draw your conclusion on what evidence? - To use your own words...
I can tell you old ST hacks are bothered by this, good!Huh? Sorry but my english are not that good (or yours
)Well that is about to change!Good for ya. Let me know how well it sells...
P.S. Disclaimer: I have nothing against people trying to sell their work, I just find it pointless on the ST.

Looking for musicians
in Atari Jaguar
Posted
Well, someone more experienced can correct me but in most times a mod is made out of small samples which are being replayed at the described frequency. Midi on the other hand is just a set of instructions passed to an instrument. So for Seb to use midi he would need to emulate the instrument while on mod just to replay the samples.
