Once upon a time in a tiny little country called Greece an Atari magazine was born, by Atari users (some of them employees of Atari.gr) but nonetheless Atari enthusiasts. Here you can find a scan of a falcon test... most of you can't read greek but that shouldn't be a problem... should it? Oh... the quality of the scans is.. hmmm.. bad... Maybe if I am not bored later on I will rescan them.

It's not as if I can't remember a certain someone bragging about a newly acquired TT on IRC! Oh well.. 1. I've never heard of Superboot. I'll give it a try! 3. Magic is indeed great! But it' s not free. 4. Mwahahaha. I dare not run Jinnee on my falcon 6. Yeah jam is great. I'll put that in too! 10. Yeah yeah . I'll make the leap someday

As I said on my previous post, I got a Mega STE from my good friend Beetle whom I met at Outline 08. As one would expect the Mega STE is in top form. I'll add pictures in my gallery (heh, I just found about this feature ). Now, I need to install the necessary software so that the machine becomes at it's best. Let's say a few things about it and compare it to the falcon. The MegaSTE is pretty fast, sometimes more so than the falcon. BUT it can only take up to 4 MB's of RAM. So, mirroring my falcon isn't a real option. Well let's start: 1. I need a boot manager: STOOP, XBOOT or Start-IT. XBOOT I have original, STOOP I don't, Start-It I got from an STFORMAT cover disk. I think I'll go to the last, if only for the something new factor, plus it seems nice. 2. I need GDOS. Luckily I have version 2.5 of NVDI. But I could just as easily go for SpeedoGdos. NVDI offers screen acceleration too. I think I'll go for NVDI. 3. I want Multitasking. MiNT+ XaAES will leave me with 1.5MB's free. So what if I use an old kernel and Geneva? Interesting project I think 4. I need a desktop. That's easy: Teradesk! 5. I need a text editor. Here we have a lot of options. QED (fully featured but...slow). Everest (I really like that one). Others I need to look for. Any suggestions? 6. I need a music player. There is a problem here. I don't know of an all around music player for the STE, so it will be Player v1.0 for mods, snd player for sndh. I think I am covered. 7. I need something for my uber drawing skillz. Crackart or Dpaint? I'll ask! 8. I need demos! I'll start from here. Only problem is I only have 1gb of HD. 9. I need games... D-BUG!!!!!! You all know the link and if you don't you should! 10. I need to code! GFA GFA GFA BASIC! That's about it. Any additions? Please comment!

US game releases for the ST
Christos replied to Silence The Fallen's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
The ST has no problem outputing 60Hz, also many cracks have a 50Hz/60Hz switch. For example on my Falcon with VGA (60Hz), many ST games would work with no problem. Some games which are fixed for 50Hz (not VBL) will have problems, but most won't. What I expect to happen is that most games will default to whatever is being used by the ST at the moment. You should get a high level of compatibility. Also I think that if you are using an ST monitor you will have no problem what so ever. Just give it a shot. Edit: Also, the Atari ST is NOT a game system, but a computer . -
Just came back from Outline 08 the super Atari and not only party! It was a great experience and I am so looking forward to attending next year. Havoc, earx and the rest of the s Dutch f don't even think of not holding that. I really enjoyed meeting and talking with the people there. Maybe I can visit another party this year? Here are some crappy cell phone pics.

Wow!!!! Let's sum it up: Democracy == Capitalism. The truth is that they are not really related. Europeans tend to be more into the oldskool platforms because they can't or won't buy new systems!? Europeans have just found democracy!!! That can be true for some countries, like mine that legalised the Communist party in 1974 but I doubt it has anything to do with France or the Scandinavian states for example. Europeans have less money to spend: That may be true in some extend I really don't know what the average American is left with his paycheck at the end of the month. Switzerland is in the EU. OK that was funny!

Hi, This is my first intro, done in GFA Basic. It's planned to announce STOT @ Outline 08. Enjoy watching. Intro is for STE only and needs 2MB's of RAM (a bug discovered today hopefully will be fixed soon). Update: STOTRO 1.1 released. Now works on Falcons as well! Also the memory bug is fixed. Now needs 1MB. Edit: It's also on pouet.

To me the best pacman clone for the ST is Crapman by Synergy.. Brilliant http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=29339

I would have loved to come, but it's so close to Outline 08 that I couldn't justify the trip.

Stumbled across a Falcon and Mega STE
Christos replied to ThumpNugget's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
you can also mount the hard drive on the rf shield. You need to remove the internal speaker though (you would also want to do that). -
Stumbled across a Falcon and Mega STE

Falcon... VGA is the way to go. You can easily make an adapter. Schematics can be found here. I am extremely jealous but in a helpful and not bitchy mood . -
No, you need a hardware solution, not software. The reason for this is that contrary to the A8 where the SIO port is the means of communication to the floppy drive, the ST has a floppy controller. So you need a piece of hardware that will emulate a floppy drive or some kind of cable to your pc which will still need to emulate a floppy. In that sense check these two sites: http://jeanfrancoisdelnero.free.fr/floppy_...ator/index.html http://atariamiga.free.fr/sdiskemul.php

Do you know how stupid you look when you mention how confident you are about my identity; especially when you’re 110% wrong? lol This is why I don't like you, plain and simple. I have never encountered so many assholes in my life on a single message board. I post the store information against the store owner's will, I notice that some of the instigators from this thread come in and read what I've posted, yet none of them are even mature enough to chime in with a simple " Yeah ok, we were wrong" comment. Know what? You people need to grow up a little bit AND pull your heads out of your collective asses. Nothing would make me happier than being wrong in this case.

Though he denied it when asked directly, I remain confident it's Doommaster. Especially considering his adversarial character and some other facts. He will probably come up and say that what I write is because I am an "anti-american bigot" and due to our confrontation in another thread, but that doesn't annoy me a bit. Anyway, a search in www.atari-forum.com and www.amiga.org would yield some results about the behaviour of Doommaster. I would be very cautious. Thank you.

How did I know you were going to type that? You're an anti-American bigot Christos; you've proven your bigotry time and time again. Yes, you're a bigot! Sunnyboy is no different with his Americanstyle English comment. You people aren't special; you’re human beings just like the rest of us. It's no secret that Europeans speak 'proper' English but that doesn't give you the right to ridicule someone that lives in the U.S. If I was going to apply Godwin's law I would have said 'Master' race you stupid fool; don't you know anything? No, wait -- I keep forgetting that you're hell-bent on discrediting me for some reason. My thread was non-confrontational; I asked a simple question and expected answers. The people who turned this into a flamewar should be ashamed of themselves. There is one thing you need to learn about me: I NEVER back down from a fight. Bigot? Care to elaborate? Did I say anything anti-american? I honestly can't remember that. Please find the times and times again that I said so. BTW I don't approve SSB's comment either. I am interested. Hell-bent on discrediting you? How so? The only thing I ever wrote "against" you, was that you don't know anything about the ST community, which you admitted, right? Of course you called me a troll... And now a stupid fool... Fascinating! OK, let's indulge you that it wasn't a Nazism reference. But if it wasn't a racist comment but personal, why did you use the word race and not person or man or anything? Would you care to elaborate on that? Thank you. BTW, how did you reach the conclusion that I consider myself superior to anyone? Can you find the referance? -

Move aside! The superior race has entered the room! lol What is that supposed to mean? It means Simmon boy needs to come down off his perch; he's no better than anyone else. OK, I'll just say that this is the first time I see Godwin's law applied in these forums.. Interesting -

Well, an internal hard drive board would be much more expensive and hard (it would require quite a bit of soldering). There are such solutions. Using ghostlink also is not feasable for anything other than transferring files. Ghostlink doesn't allow executing programs remotely. Basically the cheapest solution is HDDriver and Satandisk. It's unfortunate that SD isn't AHDI compatible, which I believe should have been the case. Last but not least, there is an external cartridge port solution. And zip drives won't work as you plan sorry. You will need a scsi zip setup...

Let's see... how about you have no idea who is who in the ST scene? Or how about what's the current state of things in the ST community? Oh and about the expert troll part... people's history speaks for itself And you draw your conclusion on what evidence? - To use your own words... Huh? Sorry but my english are not that good (or yours ) Good for ya. Let me know how well it sells... P.S. Disclaimer: I have nothing against people trying to sell their work, I just find it pointless on the ST. -

I am pretty confident you don't really know what you are talking about.... Anyway good luck with your project (I most certainly won't buy any ST game in 2008), but I will continue to support the game authors in the ST community. Not everything is measured with money. (P.S. I think the last shareware game on the ST appeared somewhere between 1999-2001)
