  1. Nah, nothing beats the real thing . STEEM comes close though And needless to say, D-Bug patches are great (nice intros and even nicer music too)
  2. Yeah, I' ve been playing these games for the STOT they rule but I wouldn't want to play them as remakes.. Just doesn't feel right. Of course some of the remakes I've seen might have helped on that On your other point, mad_max absolutely rules and we are lucky in the ST to have such great musicians. BTW he did a track for the warptyme YM rockerz musicdisk.
  3. I love this game! Easy to learn hard to master. Made it to level 11. Therefore a slight improvement: 7479. It's a pity I can't code. If I could I wouldn't be playing it, I would be ST porting it.
  4. The intro was first presented in this demo by Dune. I think this is one to look for the next ST offline tournament.
  5. If you like these games you may want to take a look at this. Great 3d shooter
  6. 124000. Slight improvement. I had never played this game before. Seems to me like a very interesting take on missile command. Nice
  7. There is a H.E.R.O. game for the ST but activision had nothing to do with it. It is a shareware game which IIRC was written in STOS. http://www.atari.st/view.php?id=782
  8. Is it too late for a newcomer? 100900
  9. You can probably do some better case mod so it will look better but this is my system.
  10. Yeah, I know about them but having seen the schematics and the Eiffel I got from the above mentioned source, I think that some things are a bit different. I mostly want to see why my joystick ports are not working properly and if it's because of something I did or something wrong from his part. Plus an idiots guide on how to build such a thing would be greatly appreciated . I' ve done some electronics at the uni but we didn't use a soldering iron, just some raster boards.
  11. Do you happen to have the schematics of what you did? Great job btw.
  12. Here's a few things I am getting from a very well known Atari ST scener. It was a pleasure doing business with him Some of the very best atari st/falcon software .
  13. Well.. how about this for a start http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...blogid=199& I plan to update this in the next few days. Most programs will require a 1MB ST though.
  14. Hi, this will probably answer many of your questions. http://www.atari.org/hosted/quickfaq/
  15. It depends on what you find cool on a machine. If it's gaming you want there are tons and tons of great games you may want to play. Take a look at STOT (###Shameless advertisement###) the ST offline tournament that we've setup. It's a fun competition. On other entertainment software, take a look at the demoscene and of course you can check my atariage blog (another shameless advertisement) for some recent posts, eg a small must have application list I've compiled.
  16. 20 ST/STE applications I really think that anyone should have. Target machine, 4 MB ST with hard disk. Office: Atari Works: A complete office suite with a word processor, database and spreadsheet. 3d Calc: Superb spreadsheet, 3dimensional Text Editors: QED: Wonderful text editor with syntax highlighting. Media players: SND player: sound player for the SNDH format. Player 1.0: Mod file player PlaySid: Sid player Mplayer 3.11: Video player for Atari Utilities and tools: Hypview 0.40: Hypertext viewer. Procalc: Freeware scientific calculator by Atari. Lots of functions. Can work as an app or desk accessory JayMSA: Disk image utility Internet: CAB: Web browser for any ST with TOS. Highwire: The best web browser for the Atari. Needs a multitasking OS. Litchi 1.0c: FTP client Troll: Newsgroups client aMail: e-mail client AtarIRC: IRC client AtarICQ: ICQ client Graphics and Image Pixel painters from the DHS site: I am not an artist to suggest you one. But if you have an artistic side we'd be more than happy to hear from you Smurf: Image editor GemView: Image viewer. And I forget so many more... This post was a hard one. There are way too many applications to choose from. I' d appreciate any additions you'd like to make to this list, disagreements and everything else.

  20. Happy Birthday Beetle! May all your wishes come true
  21. Seeing the popular support that Wings of Death had in the voting, we decided to have that game at the second run. So post your high scores in this thread. We would also like to thank AF and AA for the (involuntary ) donation of the bandwidth but unfortunately the STOT site is not ready yet. So let the gaming begin .
