The Milton Bradley carts did not have their own boxes. Each was packed loose inside a rather large controller box.

The Official Price Guide To Video Games
bfstats replied to Albert's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
The "idea" of producing a comprehensive reference is not harmful or misleading to those interested, provided its objective material is factual and its subjective material is labeled as such. Perhaps the community would be best served if its members would read the book before voicing any opinion about it. -
It was built by a friend who put a LOT of time into it. Literally hundreds of hand-cut pieces of plexiglass, glued together to form slots that are exactly the size of 2600 carts. I would only recommend such a project to someone who has a lot of time and patience.

This is a wood cabinet built especially for 2600 carts. The individual slots are made a plexiglass cut to fit. There 10 slots made specifically for SuperCharger cassettes and 5 made for Xonox double-enders. It fits 359 carts/cassettes total. The cabinet "closes" by sliding a panel door across the front in 2 grooves cut in the top and bottom. It even locks, although the locking "mechanism" is somewhat primitive. The reason I include all this detail is I'm hoping to auction it at the next Philly Classic, in case anyone is interested.

Carts and boxes.

I acquired Tax Avoiders in December of 1986 at Kiddie City in Baltimore. Some of you may recall that Kiddie City often had distress/closeout merchandise from other stores. Seems that was the case with Tax Avoiders. Original price sticker said $27.99, marked down to $4.99, so it was already a dumped item two years before 1988. Hope this sheds a little light.

In all honesty, I don't know if its NTSC or PAL. He lists it on his website atarionline.com.

Update to bfstats collection: My MagiCard has the white label. Subtract Motorodeo NTSC (traded to Tempest at CGE). Also of note, Cassidy Nolen has Mangia boxed.

Some stuff to get rid of (updated 2-2-04)
bfstats replied to Susuwatari's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I'm assuming the STNG DVDs are sold since they are no longer pictured. True? -
Tac-Scan and Sub Scan are both available in a standard (non-gatefold) box. I have them.

Thomas, Thanks for yet another contribution to the classic gaming community. CloneSpy is an excellent resource, especially for those of us who wish to avoid wasting money on hacks. Please keep up the good work.

I remember Kiddie City. Still had 2600 titles into the early 90's here in the Baltimore area. Here's some more: Kings Toy Barn Kay-Bee Murphy's Harmony Hut Toys R Us Video Concepts Sound Waves (they even had the Mystique titles) Games & Gadgets BEST Products (NOT Best Buy) Greetings & Readings Now Playing Bamburgers Home Entertainment Sears Montgomery Ward Drug Fair K-Mart Video Heaven Camelot Music Video Today J&R Music Circus World Electronics Boutique Record & Tape Collector ...and the dreaded Pleasant Valley Video. I purchased at least one 2600 game from every one of these stores between 1981 and 1991. Never realized how many stores there were (27) until this topic made me go back and count. But 1982 was the best: White Marsh Mall had 14 stores selling Atari at the same time. That much competition made for some great price wars. Those were the days!

I consider my Activision collection complete, and it does NOT contain Fighter Pilot because I also have Absolute's F14 Tomcat. Same game, right?
-
Well, that settles that. My e-mail to Brian came back rejected. Suggest you PM Albert and see if he has a way to contact Brian. After all, AtariAge IS selling Brian's creations.
-
I have the cart which I bought from Brian, but I don't have a way to dump it. Besides, the hack is not mine to post. I'll try to contact Brian and check on availability.
-
Brian Prescott (same guy who created Crazy Valet and Vault Assault) hacked Kaboom and made a practice cart. You might want to contact him and see if he has any more. Good way to practice without getting so frustrated.

I agree with Marco. There are many original PAL games that don't have an NTSC counterpart. Those who limit themselves to NTSC only miss out on some genuine creativity for the 2600. As for Ikari Warriors in NTSC, it did have limited release in the US. Albert has the ROM image which he intends to post here.
