  1. I think you are right, It's VGA that needs setting as default analogue output is RGB. As you have DVI output working my guess would be the cable or the OSSC that is the issue
  2. https://www.thebrewingacademy.net/TBA_Sophia.zip there is a pin out and some other details here if it helps
  3. I think the Sophia 2 needs to be configured , there is a utility for this as an atr file somewhere. I don't understand why you would want to do this though, output from Sophia 2 doesn't need any more processing
  4. I'd also like to add that these cases are getting quite brittle now, if you do get one shipped from the US I would ask the seller to not ship it with the power supply, useless in the UK and act as a wrecking ball in transit, I receved a totally destroyed 800 from the states due to very poor packaging. If you can find one in the UK that you can collect in person that is by far the safest way.
  5. I'm in the UK and use several NTSC Atari's. Luckily my old plasma TV and several of my smaller LCDs support NTSC signal on composite and s-video. For a 400 I can highly recommend SCCC from tf_hh to give fantastic S-video output, this could then be run through an upscaler if you want to invest in that option (retro tink etc but not some cheap ass amazon box) tf_hh's 48k ram upgrade is also pretty simple to install. Sophia 2 (grab one whilst you can) will give DVI output which is easy to convert to HDMI with the correct cable, but you will still need to pick up audio from somewhere, so the SCCC comes in handy for that, you will need external speakers or a HDMI audio injector If you are anywhere near Leicester I'd be happy to show you my set up(s) and help with any upgrades
  6. I'm interested in trying out a mod board, I've got a couple of PAL 7800s sat in a cupboard. Please let me know how to get hold of one, I'm in the UK Thanks
  7. Damn, that's a shame. I do hope that they will get some more when I have some spare cash
  8. Can't remember which FW version I am on , but it works on my 400 now if I hit reset after the boot up. NTSC 400, tf_hh 48/52k RAM upgrade and SCCC fitted
  9. I live in the UK. I think the best term would be subsidised dental care, it's not free unless you are on welfare. For the top band of work it's just over £300, however, finding a dentist that will take on NHS work is almost impossible. And if you don't want to look like Jaws from the James Bond films you need to go private. My £300 was the balance of a £500 bill for a 3D printed crown
  10. Grrr, spent my spare cash on a 400 Mini this month, followed by a broken car, a £300 dental bill and new double glazing. So going to have to hope they get this cheap again in a few months
  11. What a difference a day makes 👍
  12. Agree with the Doc, it's like the Wicco ball, which isn't an analogue trackball , just emulates joystick movements
  13. That is brilliant news, congratulations Bob. Hope you are well! I wish they sold the VCS in the UK and I'd certainly have a dabble
  14. Totally agree with this, have fitted a few now for myself and friends, with a decent cable and monitor/TV the output is very good ROI
  15. Thanks, That's what I thought too. And thanks to everyone else for your input. As for how many will sell, I have no idea but in the low to mid hundreds would be my guess. A lot depends on price and feature set. Sure it's aimed a totally different market to the 400 mini. I initially got very excited about the mini, but that's worn off pretty quickly and now unsure if I will go through with my pre-order as I have so many other/better ways to emulate the 400/800/xl/xe including MiSTer, Pi4,Xbox etc etc etc
  16. I keep hearing YouTubers saying that this has been killed by the people making "THE 400" anyone know if that us the case as the first signs of life video appeared way after the C&D order
  17. Really? After 30+ Atari 8bit computers owned in the last 20 years I've had no failed power supplies or faulty caps.
  18. Retro Games THECXSTICK - A400 (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk) https://amzn.eu/d/8VLdN70 Found the link to the UK joystick pre order, searching Amazon didn't bring up any results 🤷
  19. I've got multiple 400,800, xl, xe and emulation via pi, MiSTer FPGA and Xbox etc etc. Still getting one Why? Because I like the look of it. It can sit in the family room without me being moaned at for all the cables everywhere, it can work on my plasma TV without messing about with video converters and audio injectors and I can throw it in an overnight bag to take away on holiday or business trips. And I think this gen of Atari are really trying to do something good so I'm going to back this one
  20. Did the description change? No mention of the XE line in the current Amazon UK blurb
  21. The 7 buttons on the Joystick may overcome the lack of keyboard? Missile Command is on the list, pretty sure I saw it in the promo video (briefly) Forget Donkey Kong, Dig Dug and pacman, Atari don't own the rights to them. Defender and Dropzone are the same game really, my money would be on Dropzone
