Currently the 90 degree ones that I have do not have any support, but I will add some packing/Lego/rubber feet to stop the wobble. Not elegant but I don't have a 3D printer. There is a case available for the straight one

7800 is a very different beast with regards to how the fire buttons are read The control stick will work OOB with the 8bit computer line. I found them horrible to use though, but we all like different

Thanks @Dropcheck I have finally been able to have a 1200xl cart extender. Do you remember if there was any physica support method used to stop it wobbling around when inserting carts?
