Sure as long as they are no more than 75 cents each.
Canadian or US?
That is actually 75 cents more than I was going to charge - if you want them, sort me the postage from the UK and they're yours. I reckon it'll be about £3 or so.

or buy a french 7800 with SCART ouptut, works great with PAL TV sets...
Really? Wouldn't there be a PAL versus SECAM issue?
-
Sorry, it's just occurred to me - I have previously searched the forum for this but most of the existing topics on this subject point to off-site links which are dead. Also - I am not particularly married to getting totally absolutely perfect output. I can barely get a picture tuned in from the modulator, so anything is going to be an improvement.
-
I've got 8 sealed boxed PAL Meltdowns. Want 7 of them?
-
Subject line says it all really - do either of the video mods in the 7800 FAQ work on a PAL 7800? Has anyone done one on a UK machine?
Having had the thing open I've noticed there's two points very near the modulator labelled Video and Audio. Is it too much to assume that these are actually exactly what they say, and could I just hook into them to get some video/audio feeds out of my 7800?
(Have been desperately trying to get a decent picture out of the thing all weekend but the poxy RF modulator just isn't playing, given UK TV channels' close proximity to virtually every frequency I can get the thing transmitting on.)
-
To answer my own question - yes there is, there is a little adjustable screw on the modulator. Built up the courage to take it to pieces and now have it happily transmitting on ch35.

Just got a 7800 off of eBay and am having a nightmare of a time getting a TV tuned into its signal.
I'm pretty sure that the problem is interference from Five (the TV station, not the frequency). The 7800's modulator puts out a signal on channel 36, Five broadcasts on channel 37 and this particular 7800 seems to be outputting closer to channel 37 than 36 (it's about halfway up). Net result is a complete mess of a picture.
Is there a way of moving the modulator's output signal to a part of the spectrum that's a little less crowded? Failing that, does anyone know if any of the composite out mods work with a PAL 7800?

Have stumbled across a few German made 2600 games...
...and they have S.S. embossed on the back of the cartridge!

I´m trying to think of a way of posting pics of esp. the letter without having to worry about misuse later on.
Any advice?
Will somebody be able to duplicate it and use it for less than honorable deeds?
Take a picture of it rather than a scan would be a good start. You could also watermark the pic with COPY or something.

Double-arse.
Turns out Dig-Dug and Food Fight don't work - being two I've just bought off e-bay. C'est la vie.
What games WERE released in PAL format?
-
Arse. Looks fairly bleak.
Thanks for the info though Kizza.

I know the deal with NTSC on a PAL 2600, but can't find details for the 7800.
Is it the same gig (ie. they'll work, but I'll get crap colours)?
(I also mean NTSC 7800 cartridges on a PAL 7800 - I'm sure NTSC 2600 cartridges on a PAL 7800 will yield the same results as on a PAL 2600).

Pictures, damn you - pictures!

the number of Combat carts manufactured exceeds by so much the number of people who will ever want oneWhat?! Combat is COMMON? You lie, sir! This bloke and this bloke on eBay say it's rare! And I believe them. Seriously.

-
It's not that important to avoid NTSC carts here, as they ususally work on our PAL TVs.Albeit in black and white or, at best, psychadelic colours. The three titles I've mentioned are three of my favourites, but somehow I ended up with NTSC versions of them

-
I have an accidental NTSC Berzerk, Space Invaders and Missile Command, if any of you Yanks across the pond fancy doing a swap (for the same titles, obviously, I'm not expecting Quadrun or anything!)
-
Or rather, Raumbasen-Attacke, as the German copy I've got refers to itself.
Was one of my favourite games back in the day, although I knew it as Base Attack. Have been scouring ebay for a copy since I got back into the 2600 recently, and wasn't expecting to find one this quickly.
Looking on Rom Hunter's site, I note he hasn't got a dump of this title. Is anyone in the UK in a position to do a dump? (ooer)
-
Subject line says it all.
They don't seem to come up on the dreaded ebay that often and I missed out on one recently.
If you've got a spare one you want to flog, drop me a PM.
-
Or play game 9, where you don't get any extra lives.
Other game variations of Berzerk are for girls.

-
I'm just doodling at the moment more than anything - calling what I have a "game" is giving it a title it doesn't deserve! I was just curious why I was seeing that behaviour. As Batari (the man himself!) said, setting COLUP0 on line 257 did the trick. (Now it's fixed, I think I actually preferred it the way it was - although maybe I should stop tinkering with a game end sequence I have no intention of keeping!)
-
I have this at game end (it's quick and dirty, it's solely so I know the game has finished - I will be putting something fancier there longer term)
256 rem ######################### game ended
257 scorecolor = rand
258 drawscreen: goto 257
However the player changes colour as well. Not that it's a big deal, but I'd like to know WHY. Can anyone who knows more about this explain it?
(incidentally, if anyone is thinking of taking the plunge, I thoroughly recommend Batari Basic. I picked it up approximately two hours ago. I now have a Scramble-esque scrolling playing field-based landscape, and a plane bombing it. No targets to bomb as of yet, but they'll come
Given how much of a headf**k the 2600 is supposed to be to develop for, Batari definitely gives you a BIG leg up) -
It'll play backups (in fact there's a copy of Project Gotham 2 on the hard disk - I just woke up one day and found it there, honest
) and US titles. At the moment it's set to output PAL so that might be a problem (unless you have an HDTV, in which case such things as PAL/NTSC become irrelevent) but there are utilities out there that'll switch a modded PAL xbox to output NTSC and vice versa (according to this forum discussion). The chip is a very early mod, just so the thing will run unsigned code (so you can forget Xbox Live, I'm afraid). Other than that it'll do pretty much anything you want from an Xbox scene point of view.
-
Hardly used. About half a dozen (old!) games, Halo, Splinter Cell, Project Gotham, couple of others that escape me. Was occasionally used as a media player, it has Xbox Media Center on it and a few other utilities. I would put it on ebay but I think the whole modded/chipped aspect would get it pulled. Would do someone as a Linux box if they were so inclined, or for a MAME cabinet perhaps. If anyone wants to make me an offer, either in money or boxes of Atari gear, drop me a PM, otherwise I'll drop it on ebay and leave out the chipped bit.
(I'm only just starting out with the Atari collecting stuff so if you want to trade for that, just fire offers my way; chances are I won't have what you're offering me)
-
Just picked up a copy of this, mainly because I've never heard of it (hey, I'm new to this collecting lark).
It's labelled up for PAL TVs but when I put it in my UK Woody the colours are psychadelic to say the least. Looking at the screenshots of the NTSC version, it's totally different. The "water" alternates between blue and purple and all the other colours are off.
Did Coleco never convert this title properly, or do I have a duff cartridge? The game plays fine apart from the LSD-esque colouring.

UK PAL 7800 - composite video output modifications?

Good stuff. I shall have a stab at Schmutzpuppe's mod (or rather a mate of mine who knows what he's doing will) and if it doesn't work out, a session on ebay France might be in order.
Thanks to all.
