  1. I have found a couple of LYNX I and II on ebay for cheap but I now need replacement battery covers for both. I also want sunshades and AC power supply, and also any games for 800/XL/XE. I have some 2600 games to trade as well as NOS boxed stick stands for 2600 joysticks that include the ball for the top. My trade list is in the main Marketplace section.

  2. I am out of boards for the Redemption and I'm unlikely to order more until I can get the board redesigned to make it easier and less expensive to assemble. The board is more complex than it needs to be, since it can also be configured for a "PC Joystick" option as well as the 2600/7800 versions. I stopped selling the PC version a while ago, since few people were buying it and it didn't work consistently well depending on the joysticks used. I'd also like to find an alternative enclosure, since the current Redemption uses 5200 carts and those take a fair amount of work to prep. To say nothing of having to sacrifice a 5200 game to make a Redemption.

    ..Al

Maybe it can be fitted into a dead and gutted 5200 controller case ;)

In all seriousness, though, thanks for the answer and all the work you are doing to make AII an awesome reality. (I hope my check clears soon!)

  3. It was briefly mentioned in a recent thread that the Redemption adapter is no longer available at AA and a check of Pixels Past tells That it is only available at AA. What gives? I am anxiously waiting for my copy of Adventure II and this was going to be my next purchase. Please bring it back! If it is no longer an AA product, where can I get it, other than ebay? Has it just gone into highly price inflated collector status like the very expensive 5200 Wico with y adapter and the even more spendy Masterplay?

  4. I am looking to touch up the paint on some of my better joysticks and consoles. I know that there are several shades of orange used on VCS's and their components but I am wondering if anyone has found any successful matches and commercially available sources for the colors?

  5.

I don't see anything for downloads here(just seems to lead to a personal page). Where can one get this WAV converter? I'm curious to try it.

Here is a link to wplaybin.

This one should work. Just remember to play loud and slow out of whatever device you send the sound file from.

    enjoy!

  6. Does anyone know if the 2600 version of the Redemption gizmo works with the booster grip to give playability to 2 button games? I assume the 7800 version works for 2 button games, but pro-system controllers, sadly, give my hand a cramp.

  7. Now I do see more than just religious/easy listening/Christmas stuff. I've picked up quite a bit of Star Trek stuff from the thrift shop, and I've seen some modern alternative CDs for sale.

I was referring mainly to a certain rescue mission style religious based charity near me that see any record, tape, cd, 8-track, or vhs that does not feature Pat Boone, Jack Van Imp, or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as "of the Devil." I was even told this very thing by the lady that runs the place. It really chaps me that they consider it their duty to throw the stuff away rather than just refuse the donation outright. I am not saying that all religious based charities do this. My A-Number-One favorite thrift is St. Vinnie's. I travel hundreds of miles to find them. They are the best, least expensive, and friendliest I have ever been in.

  8. I am bothered that insiders are able to set aside the good stuff at the thrifts, mostly because I am jelous. I suppose if they pay for the item and have an agreement with management than it is nobody's business but theirs. Stealing is absolutely out of the question, though. I really cannot judge the people who work in these places too harshly though. They are not paid well and are probably one paycheck away from being homeless.

I really do not think that there are that many classic game or anything collectors in the back rooms of these places, and the reason we do not see much in the way of old computer and video game stuff is that it all goes right in the dumpster with all the records that are not easy listning, xmas, or religious in nature. The only time I find Atari cartridges at thrifts is when they are accidentally filed with the Jim Neighbors 8-tracks by some white haired octagenarian who is more busy scoping the piles for precious moments figurines.

  9. I believe that some people have found that sports games that require a lot of fast rythmic back and forth on the joystick works very well. Decathalon and most of the Epyx sports games are this way. Some events do not work well at all with the trackball, so I use a y cable adapter to switch rapidly between the two.

  10. I recieved boxed Midnight Mutants and Ninja Golf from Atari2600.com today. I am having a wonderful time with Mutants. I wish all horror themed games for Atari were this fun. I also picked up a loose Food Fight from the local Game Hits. Thanks for the huge response of advice, encouragement, discouragement, rants, tirades, etc. I know the console is worth keeping if so many people have passionate opinions about it. Thanks to all!

  11. Hello everyone, I'm new here but I've got a 5200 on the way myself. I already had a few games laying around but wanted to ask if anyone has bought cartridges from Atari2600.com. If so, what kind of shape are they in? I want to get Popeye, Choplifter and Jungle Hunt but I don't want any ripped labels.

Also, the controller rebuild from Best Electronics looks like a good buy. Has anyone had any experience with this upgrade in their CX52 controllers?

Sorry for all the questions...I was just curious!

    Congratulations and welcome!

I just rebuilt mine with Best's parts. This is how I did it and others may disagree:

Don't try to hurry and do use a small piece of double sided sticky tape to secure the part of the flex circuit under the start and reset buttons, only after you are sure that the stick is in the correct position upon closing up the thing. You must remove the bezel to do this. I found that if I didn't have this secured and tightly pulled away from the left fire buttons, they were more squishy than normal because the circuit flap did not lay down tightly under the fire button. That was the only tricky part I found when replacing the circuit. Everything else is self explanatory, even for I spazz like me.

  12. The 5200 Ms. Pac Man is not to be missed. A very good version.

If you're a Pac Man fan, it is worth it.

Do this, grab the Pac Man Collection rom image here, on the forum...

    Download a 7800 emulator...

And see if you like it enough to buy it.

What 7800 emulator do you recommend?

  13. I just ordered a couple of games for the 7800 since the chances of ever getting my hands on a CC2 are next to nil. Maybe this has already been covered, but is their a 7800 specific multi-cart, like the many mult-carts I have seen for the 2600?

I ordered Midnight Mutants and Ninja Golf because they seemed quite unusual, and also non-existent on other platforms. If I like these games, I will probably keep the console.

Is there any need to get the Pac-Man Collection if I have a half dozen official, hack and conversion roms already for the 5200? I have no quarrel with the controllers, as I have freshly rebuilt ones; so other than that, do I really need to bother with the collection for 7800?

  14. I would like to know what the equivalent product is to my Atarimax 5200 usb cartridge, for use with the XEGS that I recently purchased. I am extremely pleased with the cartridge and would like the same features with no fuss and nothing more to purchase in order to get it up and running. Maybe someday my curiosity will broaden, but right now I am mainly interested in games and want to exploit the vast 8 bit library and do not care to be attempting to program as yet. Any advice in plain english would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to explore the Atarimax pages, but find much of the descriptions gibberish to my decidedly un-technical mind. Please forgive me my ignorance of such matters.

  15. This is what ebay says to members concerning the choice to make feedback private.

"If you choose to make your Feedback Profile private, your Feedback comments will be hidden from other members. (They will still be able to see the number of positive, neutral and negative Feedback you’ve received.) If you have a private Feedback Profile, you will not be able to sell items on eBay."

Now we probobly have the problem of watching out for new ebay seller I.Ds. with the same M.O. It amazes me how ebay will do everything they can to prorect these liars, psychos and cheats, and allow them to continue, business as usual. Are they just to busy with the counterfit beanie baby mafia to deal with things of real import, like our humble pursuit?

  16. Thrust+platinum is top shelf. If you like CV venture, you will like Wolfenstein VCS. Initially I kinda dug on Skeleton+, but I think I am missing something. Perhaps I really need to mod for the stereo that the game utilizes to make it more fun than wandering around and getting killed by cool looking skeletons. To be fair I have not spent more than 30 minutes playing it since I got it in December, so it may be I am just too impatient for it.
