  1. I have around 200 games for all my systems together and I try to avoid this problem by picking one system to play (most of the time it's the Atari 2600 or my Atari 800XL with 1050 floppy disk drive or my Genesis) and just pick a random game. Some times this back fires though... ended up playing Pac-Man (Atari 2600) earlier :P . I have to say it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be though.

  2. Being fairly young (14) I just got around to playing an Atari 2600, and I'm very glad I did. The first Atari I bought (four switch, I later bought a six switch which I'm currently using) came with ten games. The first game I played was Space Invaders. It was a lot of fun. I bought it about mid last year.

  3. I really enjoy the arcade ports of Joust, Pole Position, Vanguard, Galaxian, and Space Invaders. How ever I do find some problems it both of these games that I feel could have been fixed with a little more effort... of course I know nothing about programming for the 2600. I how ever do feel that the cars you are racing against in Pole Position are rather bland, and they just don't look good when you compare them to your car, which is very well done. The first time I played Pole Position with my friend he thought the opposing cars were moving fences of some sort :P.

Other then that I would have liked a more accuarate port of Space Invaders, but without a doubt creating a game like Space Invaders with zero flicker so early in the Atari's life span must have been rather impressive. I have to say out of all the arcade ports I mentioned the one that impressed me the most was Galaxian. I'm a much bigger fan of Galaga, but with zero flicker and clean graphics this was a very high quality arcade port. But I still don't get what the hell is up with that border :ponder: .

I have to say the arcade port of Pac-Man was bad, and so was the Defender port. But I don't feel they should be bashed as much. Even though I own several versions of Pac-Man on different systems (including the wonderful version of the 8-bit computer line) I still play the 2600 version from time to time. While the graphics and sound a pretty bad, I still get a sense of excitement from playing it, which I feel is what counts. But without a doubt Ms.Pac-Man and Pac-Man Jr. proved it could be done much, much better. I didn't complain about the Defender port until I played Chopper Command, which really showed how Defender could've have worked with a much better map and zero flicker.

  4. I believe the last thing I bought on eBay Atari related was my first Atari computer. It it a 800XL, and I got it with all hook-ups, Atari 1050 floppy disk drive. Most of the games I got with it were in the floppy disk format, but it's not hard to tell most of them were just pirated games, but they are still fun. It also came with about 6 cartridge games. The only one I really enjoyed how ever was Robotron. I also got a sealed copy of a Spiderman text adventure. Not planning on opening it since I'm not into text adventures.

I've been having a lot of fun with it. The 800XL version of Frogger is awesome. I also got a pretty good deal on it... it was only $52 including shipping.

  5. Congrats on getting a DSL. It's become one of my favorite portable systems, that's not really saying much though. I believe the best is still to come how ever. I love how Square Enix is supporting it like it was a Sony system :P. I do feel some of Nintendo's first party games could use a little more effort and the Wi-Fi connection has it's problems, but overall it's a great system to own. It's the best Nintendo system in years.

I just hope it doesn't end up like the Game Boy Advance, endless remakes and four bad games for every one good game.

  6. I think I would go with:

Enduro - one of, if not the, most addicting racing game I've ever played.

Yars' Revenge - once again, just a simple and adddicting game.

Jungle Hunt - A fun adventure game. I just wish your knife was bigger in the river segment :P.

Defender - I know a lot of people bad mouth this port because of the flicker, but I still really enjoy it.

River Raid - This ones just a timeless classic.

I'm hoping to get more Atari games this year then last, so this list probably will change a lot for '07.
