  1. The battery is a Nokia cellphone battery. You can pick them up anywhere on the net. Some are cheap and some are expensive. The Directional button took me a little getting used to. I use the center of my thumb on a normal D-button. With the directions separated into 4 buttons, even with them connected underneath, the reach was awkward.
  2. Did you get Kirby Super Star to work? Mine will not boot (US version)
  3. Have you had any problems with DKC 2? I have had graphical blackouts. I cleaned my cart and ended up not being able to continue at one point after loosing everything. I am using the US version. I have just took it as being a compatiblity issue.
  4. Got mine today in the mail! Thanks "Stone Age Gamer!" Love it!! I am very satisfied!! Been playing some Yoshi's Island on it today!
  5. This is the main reason that I ordered mine from "Stone Age Gamer." My system is on its way and will probably arrive tomorrow.
  6. I ordered my FC-16 Go early today from "Stone Age Gamer." Ordered the black one. Can't wait to get one of these in my hands. I've wanted something like this for years.
  7. I have the FC Moblie that is made by the same people. I hope too that they have gotten better at manufacturing these things. The FC Mobile has some color issues with some games on the LCD screen, but on the TV out there is none.
  8. I'm one of those silent Jag owners. I run through the forums occasionally. I have had a Jag since you could walk into a store and purchase one. And I am a regular player. My recent game purchase was Super BurnOut right before Christmas, ebayed. I don't have all of its games yet, but hope to have most at some point. Locally, I am the only Jag owner that I know of. Regular player of Tempest 2000, Defender 2000, and Raiden.
  9. I dreaded the 3D craze that seized the gaming world back then. I resisted it and still do today. I would rather have 2D hand drawn animated graphics. I guess that is one of the reasons that I am a retro gamer today. That and the fact that I feel that many of the old games are more fun to play. I don't like the polygon thing. I have bent and given in when it comes to racers. There are a few that I do like when 3D is used a certain way. I have yet to be drawn to purchase any of the modern day systems. Just not tempted at all. And I don't feel that I am missing anything. I am having a blast in the past.
  10. Are you saying that this is soon to be released for something? What? This is an old favorite. I love this game and would love to own it for a home console or portable. It is a Konami classic IMO. edit: Although maybe not considered consoles, Wikipedia has this listed as being released for the Commodore 64 and MSX. Wish I had of known at the time. I owned a Commodore long time ago.
  11. There are two excellent games that I am playing right now, Nemesis and Interstellar Assault, both from the Gradius series. Then there is, Metroid II Donkey Kong Land I -also works with color Donkey Kong Land II -also works with color Wario Land (Super Mario Land 3) Wario Land II -also works with color Yoshi's Cookie Operation C (contra gaming action) All I can think of right now out of my collection, but any of these will give you hours of gaming fun.
  12. What is the major differences between the carts? I just found out today that there were different versions. Mine is dated 1993 on the title screen and I have noticed that there are those that are dated 1994. What is the advantage of the difference in the megs?
  13. I really don't think that anyone can honestly apply the words “worst system” to the Jaguar. We are talking about a very powerful good little piece of technology here. I think the biggest problem with the Jaguar's failure was due to the lack of support, and that is in part due to those who were in control of Atari at the time. It was like they did not know what to do with it, now that they had a powerful system. For the small library of games it has, I feel there are some classics in there. I really don't understand what benchmark they are judging and being able to determine what constitutes a “worst system.” The Jaguar had a longer lifespan in the US than the Dreamcast, 3 vs. 2 years. Yeah I know that the Dreamcast had greater collection of great games, but then we get back to the ones in charge of Atari at the time. I think that if those who were in charge, at the time, had not greatly misjudged the market and launched the Jaguar as a CD based console, we would have seen a big difference in the Jag's life. It still lives in my home. I have been playing Zool 2, Tempest 2000, and Raiden this week.
  14. The arcade racer "Outrun" would be good to add to that list. Also the platformer Chuck Rock 2: the son of chuck rock.
  15. that is pretty much my definition of what is "retro", not available in the chain retailers anymore =) for the term "classic" I feel it needs to be pre-crash, the NES feels almost on the fence to me there is questions of generations, I like wikipedia's breakdown http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_consoles -Jubal- I guess you can put the N64 and the PS1 into the category of “retro” then. Right now EB Games and Gamestop are in the process of selling off all their N64 and PS1 inventory. They are not purchasing any used games for N64 and PS1 and once everything is gone they will carry them no more. They are selling them buy one get one free. I picked up six N64 games today. They averaged $5.00 a piece.
  16. It is odd that the Turbo stuff has become such a collectors gem. That alone has held the price of things, such as the Turbo Duo, high. The CD-rom would only be if you are going to get into the CD games. Some of the great shooters on the game cards are, Image Fight Burning Angels Soldier Blade Coryoon Cyber Core Dead Moon Raiden (The best version IMO) Aero Blasters Air Zonk Blazing Lazers Double Ring or W Ring Download Dragon Spirit Final Blaster Final Soldier Galaga 90 Gradius Kyuukyoku Tiger Magical Chase Mesopotamia Metal Stoker Ordyne Paranoia R-Type Salamander Sidearms Sinistron Super Star Soldier Tatsujin Some games you will need an adapter to play unless you get the PC Engine for the Japanese games. Some games are hard to find. And like "bust3dstr8" said, some games are pricey. One of them is Coryoon which I have seen for over $50.00. I got most of my stuff back before they became a collectors item. My stuff was brand new. When the system began to be closeouts here in the US, I sent off through a mail order place for the CD-rom attachment for the Turbo Grafx 16. They were out of stock., so they sent me the Turbo Duo as a replacement. I was totally shocked at the time, but well pleased. I only paid around $150.00, including shipping and handling, at the time. I got my Turbo Express at a local Toy-R-Us for about the same price as they were closeouts.
  17. I think back in the day when the N64 hit the shelves along with PS1 and Saturn, there was this big push for 3D games. I am not sure now whether there was a demand for them or it was just a big push from the game publishers or hardware manufacturers. I only remember cringing. I love the 2D games and didn't think, at the time, I was ready for the switch. 2D almost immediately dried up and I think that was wrong. The emphasis should always be on game play. If it requires 2D then let it be 2D and if it requires 3D then let it be 3D. The graphics and engine the game runs in should always be there to enhance the game play experience. To me, it is not about the graphics or the environment, but about the game play itself. I think with all the pressure of making 3D games, they were coming up with 3D environments and then trying to build games around them. You really can't approach making good games from that perspective. I think, that is were a lot of the crappy 3D games really came from. They were really a “me too” thing. They feel like that to me when you play them. I liked a lot of the games that came out for the N64 and I wished that there had been more 3rd party support. Ones that were not afraid of putting out games that did not necessary have to be 3D. Publishers that wanted to put out good games, like Treasure who put out that delightful “Mischief Makers.” I think the system is worth owning just to play Starfox 64 alone. I can't shake that feeling I had when I entered that area with the big tower in the middle and the dogfights with the other ships around it. I have not had another game that could come close to that gaming experience. Has age been kind to it? I think it stands its ground with some worthy titles that makes the N64 worth owning.
  18. I don't see the Turbo Grafx 16/PC Engine in any of your lists. Maybe your "really not" interested in it. It is my favorite system. But that might be because I really like those horizontal and vertical space type shooters. The system has an abundance of them and seems to be designed to excel running them. It has a number of exclusive shooters that I have not seen on anything else. It does have a few mentionable noteworthy platformers, Bonk series, Ninja Spirit, Legendary Axe, and New Adventure Island. A couple of good pinball games, The one I have is Alien Crush and the other is Devil's Crush. And I don't want to forget Bomberman and Parasol Stars, nor the Zelda inspired Neutopia 1 & 2. There is the Tubo Express, the handheld version, that plays the same game cards as the console. There is even the Turbo Duo that has the added feature of a CD-rom drive built in. It is capable of running the Japanese CD games as well as those released outside of Japan. Need an adaptor for the game cards though. The game cards are about the size of a credit card, but a little thicker. In its day, it was the competition the NES had in Japan and it literally crushed the Sega Master system there. It bombed here in the USA, big time. By the time it reached these shores the Genesis was released and rolled over it crushing any chance it had. Even though I have a number of other consoles, even up to the modern day PS2 and Game Cube, I still look at the Turbo Grafx as being my favorite. That is because I love those shooter type games. If you are into those type games occasionally, it would be good to feed that "need." I would recommend it for that alone. It has two of the best shooters on CD, IMHO, Gate of Thunder and Lords of Thunder. Concerning the game cards I could make a list of the shooters that are good.
  19. Hmmm...... I don't see Stun Runner in there any where. Maybe I am blind and missed it. What year did it come out in?
  20. What other platforms was Stun Runner released for? I was only aware of the arcade game and the Lynx version. I thought that recently was the first release of the game for anything else when it became available on Midway Arcare Treasures 3. That was for PS2, Xbox, and Cube. edit: I just answered my own question with a quick google. It came out for the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, DOS, Lynx, ZX Spectrum. I am amazed. Can't seem to understand how I missed it. I have loved this game for years on the Lynx and at the arcades. Though you can't find it in the arcades any more.
  21. When the Lynx first came out and I found out that the hardware had this feature, I felt like for the first time someone understood. A righthanded person does not know what it is like to be confronted every day of your life with the fact that you are lefthanded. We live in a world that is designed for righthanded people.
  22. You know, it has been so long since I played the C64 version that I probably could not give you a good answer to that. I just know that after playing the NES version I had to say to myself that this is the one. It is better than the one for the GBA. I think what really hooked us on the C64 was the unpredictable variety of things that fell down from the top when some things just fell into place. It led to some memorable moments. I think that the NES one felt like the C64 version in those ways. There are some versions of the game out there that seem to change in that part of the gameplay. Your question made me sit and think about an answer. That is why it has taken me this long just to respond. There are some strong nostalgic feelings when it comes to thinking about the C64 version just because of the great times my daughter and I had with that game.
  23. With blu-ray players being able to play regular DVDs, it is going to be a hard sell when it comes to the Blu-Ray movies costing $30 or more while the same movie costs only $19 or less for regular DVD. (The players are supposed to be able to improve the looks of a regular DVD for HD-TV.) One would have to be an enthusiast to refuse to buy anything but Blu-ray movies. UMD didn't turn out to be what they thought it would be and resulted with the Movie industry jumping off the moving wagon before it runs off the cliff. I think, Sony is the only one right now that is supporting UMD the last time I read about it. Will Blu-ray follow the same path? I really don't know at this point. Blu-ray should be great when it comes to gaming. If the industry decides to use the extra space. A Blu-ray disc holds 25 GB verses 4.7 GB on a DVD. The difference is the same leap that was made when the gaming world jumped from ram storage to CD. Now if only they could make the players a lot cheaper it could benefit the gaming world.
  24. There were PS3s all over the place here locally before Christmas. Out of curiosity, I went out the day after Christmas to see what was left. You know, what everyone did not want. There were only PS3s, X box 360s, PSPs, Gamecubes, and Gameboy Micros. (I picked up a Micro) The PS3s are still just as plentiful as they were before Christmas, only now it is January the 7th. I think Sony will find out that $600 or $500 is a bit much for gaming when in the past $199.00 was the magic price point to saturate the market and make those sells. Unless there are those games that will make people forget that high price sometime this year, Sony may be in for a rough ride. Because it is the games that sell a system not the technology.
  25. Including GP32, PC Engine, Wonderswan, Mega Drive, and Gameking II, I think I might have well over forty games. Maybe closer to 50.
