Welcome to the world of eBay.

Arguing the "legality" of the matter isn't what's at issue. What IS at issue is how the few people who are going to whine and complain about someone making only a few custom reproductions that were asked of him by others are going to ruin the fun for all of us. How many of those do you really think are a serious threat to the profit of a company that is still around? We're all aware that many of the repros that are being sold are in a grey legal area. However, how many of those are games that are currently marketed by those who do own the copyrights? And how do you think that people are "profiting" off this? Do you REALLY think anyone makes any serious money doing this?

That's a good question. While it's not powerful enough to emulate the processor on it's own, it may not need to, as it uses a similar one.

Well, I *CAN* move it, but I'm not gonna do it. Nothing wrong with it being in this forum. But...I'll agree, that is an outrageous price for that.

Interesting that no one's answered your post yet. I just created a blank disk image last night using APE. Even the shareware version allows you to create one.

...for sale in the Atari Age store? I guess that gives us Jag fans another outlet for buying them!

I'll agree, and it even goes well this this.

Well then let me be the first. Password systems suck, especially when there's a relatively easy save game solution that could be used. One of the biggest drawbacks for the Nuon was the lack of a memory card, which probably had something to do with the fact that only a handful of games were released for it. Obviously, most homebrew developers would prefer to have a save game solution, and most gamers would almost insist on it.

Thanks Albert!

quality of 7800 games compared to 8-bit computer
Sauron replied to Shannon's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
8bit Asteroids and the 7800's Asteroids Deluxe are two different games. Comparing them is hardly fair. Even though both were first generation titles, just keep in mind that 8bit Asteroids STILL predates Asteroids Deluxe by quite a bit. And I still haven't heard anyone tell me how I can play M.U.L.E. on a 7800. -
Where can I find an OS ROM so I can use Atari800Win? My 800XL is out of commission at the moment but I'm needing to get started on some coding in BASIC. I'm working on something that needs to be done in less than a month, and I need a temporary solution until I can get my 800XL either fixed or replaced. Thanks in advance for any help!

How about you learn how to program the Lynx so you can create it yourself? Most programmers would prefer creating their own game ideas instead of having to rely on someone else's. Also, that way you could make certain that the game fits your vision instead of someone else's.
-
What do you mean by that exactly? Quality of the hardware? Software? I think cases could be made for just about any of Atari's systems. For me, the Lynx has always been one of my favorite systems, but it's hard to qualify it's "quality" against the other Atari systems, especially since it's the only hand held system out of the lot.

M.U.L.E. is now available in cartridge form!!!
Sauron replied to Super-Genius!'s topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I think it was a joke...but I don't get it either. -
Lynx games are usually much harder to find out in the wild, although not impossible. A local game store here in town still has quite a few Lynx games, although most of them are loose carts, and the few boxed ones aren't in all that great condition. From what I've seen, you usually pay a few extra bucks out in the wild, although you do eventually save due to not having to pay shipping costs. Still, though, I'd definitely recommend eBay as by far the easiest and cheapest way of finding Lynx games.

quality of 7800 games compared to 8-bit computer
Sauron replied to Shannon's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
You can compare Asteroids, or any of the other classic Atari arcade games on the 8bit with the 7800 all you want. All I know is that I can't play M.U.L.E., Alternate Reality, or Lode Runner on the 5200 or 7800, which in and of themselves are enough to seal the deal for me. We can also compare the size of the game libraries too, if you'd like. -
HAHAHAHA...NEVER!!!!!!

quality of 7800 games compared to 8-bit computer
Sauron replied to Shannon's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I'll definitely have to agree with that last statement. The 8bit carts just seemed superior to anything I've played on either the 5200 or 7800 (especially the 5200). Not to mention that there was a MUCH wider variety of games for the 8bit, especially considering that many of them came on floppies. If I had to choose one out of the three, I'd pick the 8bit without even giving the other two a second thought. -
Yes that guy is insane. If he lowered the BIN by about $100, he'd probably get was he was asking...

M.U.L.E. is now available in cartridge form!!!
Sauron replied to Super-Genius!'s topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I was once a M.U.L.E. "expert", but I haven't played that game in well over a decade. Oh well, I'd still be interested in purchasing a copy once they're available. -
I would definitely recommend both the Jaguar and Lynx, but NOT the 5200. Maybe it's just me, but the crappy 5200 controllers push the system so far down on my priority list that I ended up selling it. However, you'll have to pry my Jag and Lynx out of my cold, dead hands....

I'll attest to it working, as every bad or scratched CD I've run through mine has been fixed. I'm thinking I should've bought the powered one, though, as running one CD through the manual one will wear most people out.

Nothing like the first time...

But....but...I thought the "enormous" library of "good" Xbox titles was keeping you quite happy? -
What's the best non-game use of your computer
Sauron replied to LDA#$AF's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
That sounds kinda similar to a story related many years ago by Dave Small. You can read it here. -
There's a local game store in my town that has several copies of Jag Doom for sale. I think they're priced at $10 each, but I'll need to double check that.
