  1. I don't have much in the way of rare Jag items, so nothing I have really matches up with anything else listed here. However, I do have some things from JagFest 2K and JagFest 2K2 that aren't widely available, especially the press kit CD for JF2K2. I'll have to put a picture of it up here sometime.

    Contest?

I would be interested, but at the same time, I'm not sure there would be very many people who would enter. Not sure how many Lynx developers are still around...
  3. Thanks for the info, Curt. I wonder how many 800XL's Atari actually sold back in 83-84. I'm sure we can all guess they never quite hit 4 million.
  4. Looks to me like you got a great deal! Hope you enjoy it!

    Primal Rage!

I just got my CD back from a friend who had been borrowing it. PR really isn't that bad of a fighter, although it does have it's share of problems. Still good for a quick fight or two, though. Now, only to remember all of the special moves that I've forgotten over the years....
  6. I for one would definitely like to see these! Speaking of which....is there any kind of 8bit programming mailing list?
  7. I see some of you guys are pretty damn anal about this. I personally could care less, as I'm a GAMER first and foremost. However, I will agree that it's nice to have a nice, shiny complete box along with the game. But it does nothing to change the fact that I'll just as easily pick up a loose cart if I'm really wanting the game. I suppose all of the Jag and Lynx game boxes I've thrown away over the years really drives you guys nuts!
  8. If the monitor's label starts with SM, it's probably monochrome instead of color. You'll need one with an SC in front of the numbers (ie SC1224). Just giving ya a head's up.
  9. Keep them coming in, Brian! Lynx games are quite addicting....most of them are cheap to buy, especially when you're still needing quite a few of the common ones. For some reason, I still get a thrill whenever a brand new shrinkwrapped Lynx game comes in the mail.
  10. James Garvin happens to be a good friend of mine who I've known for many years. What I can tell you all is that he is pretty much through with working on anything related to the Jaguar. He's also said that he's NOT releasing anything that he's worked on, which probably means that there's not much of a chance of anyone seeing any of the modifications he did to Native. He would also prefer to be left alone regarding any of the projects that he was working on. Honestly, I can't really say why he came to this decision, although I'm sure that much of the negativity he received regarding his work had something to do with it. I guess you can chalk up a win for the trolls.
  11. Warbirds and Battlewheels are absolute must-haves that you MUST add to your collection yesterday! And don't believe all the cynicism regarding Pit-Fighter...it's a ton of fun as a two-player game and is actually pretty impressive graphically. Keep in mind that the Genesis port of Pit-Fighter didn't utilize any scaling effects like the Lynx (and arcade) versions did.
  12. Gates of Zendocon would compare a bit better with R-Type than with Defender. It does tend to move slowly, but in some of the later levels you're only grateful for that. It still remains one of my favorite Lynx games.
  13. I already have an SIO2PC adapter, and wouldn't want to have to rely on it for my development work. I'm specifically wanting a cartridge version of Atari Assembler or MAC/65, unless someone can suggest a better solution. I'd also need the included documentation that came with whatever. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
  14. Yes, you read that right. I'm looking mainly for either Atari Assembler or MAC/65, as well as anything else that might be suggested. I would GREATLY prefer MAC/65, as I'm much more familiar with it than Atari Assembler, but I'll really take either/or. Please email or PM me if you can help me.
  15. Just wondering if anyone knows or has any ideas on which 8bit computer lead Atari's sales? My vote would go for the 800, as that seems to be the most common system out there. A fairly close second place would probably be the 800XL, as there seems to be no shortage of those either.
  16. The game does take a bit of getting used to. I say give it more of a chance. It starts off kinda slow, and does suffer from a choppy framerate and crappy controls, but does have some redeeming features. If nothing else, just say to yourself that you're playing the beta for Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands, and view it as a preview to that. HS:UL is a FAR superior game. Atari really outdid themselves with improving every aspect of the game, especially the framerate and the controls.
  17. Have any of the Jag dev tools been ported to Linux?
  18. This one had better be made out of gold for that price.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=27182
  19. Geez...at the rate it's going now, it looks like someone will be getting a hell of a deal on it.
  20. I've been building up my collection slowly but surely. When I decided to start building up my collection again, the first thing I did was bid on a group of about 10 common games on eBay for about $25. The only problem now is that since I've bought almost all of the most common carts, It's starting to get a little more expensive to grab games that I don't have. I can just imagine how expensive it'll be by the time I have money to grab some of the rarest of the Lynx games, like Desert Strike and Lemmings.
  21. I also think that would be a good idea. There's no telling how many user groups are still out there. I miss the one I belonged to here in Austin.
  22. Be sure to read this thread for everyone's opinions on the best Lynx games. One of the great things about the Lynx is that most of it's best games can be had for cheap, especially from eBay. You should have no shortage of fun with it!
  23. I've always been a huge Lynx fan, ever since they were first released. I never had a Lynx I unit, though, as they were always too expensive. I always thought the Lynx was superior to any of the other portables at the time, excluding the TurboExpress. I remember getting into arguments about how the Lynx totally owned the GameBoy and Game Gear.
