I've been trying to think of what exactly could be causing it, but there's really no telling. I think someone a little more familiar with the XEGS would probably be able to help you out a little better than I can.

battlesphere... will there be another production run??
Sauron replied to Andreaus44's topic in Atari Jaguar
Thunderbird has already stated several times recently that he's planning on doing yet another run of BSG. He can explain that whole situation to you a lot better than I can, though. -

It's not as crazy as you may think. Intel has mastered the art of driving clock speeds to insane levels thanks to the ever-increasing pipelining and also to advances in the fab process. Where they will eventually run into problems is when other chip manufacturers like AMD and IBM start releasing their consumer level 64 bit offerings, whereas Intel still has no plans of straying from the Pentium series just yet. They're quite possibly digging themselves into a hole, as both the AMD and IBM chips run legacy (32 bit) code MUCH more efficiently than Intel's Itanium. -
Yes, I take my moderating duties VERY seriously. And my avatar really is a picture of me. although from a little over 8 years ago.

Super Asteroids & Missile Command would be what you're looking for. Both games are pretty good versions, but the cart can be pretty hard to find for a decent price. I would recommend picking it up if you can find it.
-
Are you referring to the XE Game System or is it a 65XE/130XE? Try starting it up without a game in the cartridge slot and see what happens.
-
It sounds like you may need to do some spring cleaning with your Lynx! You should probably get a can of compressed air and try to blow all of the dust out of the cartridge port. You should also try cleaning the contacts on your game cards. AtariAge has a good guide here that you should go by. If none of that works, then the only other thing I can think of would involve taking your Lynx apart. Try those two things I suggested first and see if that helps.

I won't deny that it'll most likely be a pretty powerful processor, but I just can't see them producing something anywhere near as powerful as they claim it to be, and having it cheap enough to put into a $300 console. Not to mention how much of a pain it will most likely be to code for. It almost sounds like it'll make the Jag a breeze to code in comparison. -
Heh, thanks guys! Nothing too spectacular, I just wanted to do my part to bring the Lynx forum back to life.

Nintendo is the last true gaming company that produces a console is what he meant.
-
I think you're right. It was their first game. The sad thing is that I liked the majority of the game when it came out. The models were nice, the tracks had nice scenery, the effects were nice (like the rain, etc.) and cool music. The part I think they really missed with the game was the control and the AI. The AI sucked in AvP too, so maybe that was their weak area? That would be my guess also, and it's most unfortunate, as a game's controls tend to have much more influence on the overall fun factor of a game than any of the aesthetical touches do.

How do you figure? I think of all the companies in question here, Nintendo would be by far the best choice to NOT stifle Sega. Both EA and MS have a far worse reputation than Nintendo as far as stifling properties that they've acquired.

By the way, BTHOTU, nice avatar. All I have to say to that is.... Texas 50, Texas A&M 20

That is true, but it would be nice if JI2 would modernize at some point. What really sucks about it is that there's no history (old posts are gone for good once they disappear) and that there's no way to view threads as a whole. Plus, it REALLY needs more moderation. Way too many trolls and flame wars have made JI2 a painful experience at times. I'm not wishing it would go away; I've been on there too long. I just wish it would get cleaned up a little.
-
Oh yeah, add Overworks to that list too.
-
I'd rather see Sega die than gobbled up by EA or MS. Personally, I think Nintendo should at least step in and snatch up Sonic Team and AM2 before Sega's out of the picture.

Why do protos only become available whenever I'm broke???
-
Reading this title, I thought this would be about STOS, the BASIC development package for the ST.
-
From what I understand, it requires an internal mod to the unit in order to be able to do so. I know someone announced a mod a few years ago, but that was all I heard about it. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about? I wanna say it was Wizztronics, but my memory just ain't what it used to be.

It's definitely nice to see progress happening on these emulators. Now if only someone would port one or the other to the Mac...
-
Good thing you were wrong, eh? How was he wrong?
-
Then couldn't you make a case for the 68000 being a 32 bit processor, as it's internal registers are 32 bit?
-
Yes they were. I remember seeing a picture of the grey controllers along with the Falcon, well before the Jaguar was officially announced. Of course, there's no telling whether or not they shipped to anyone before the Jag came out.
