    Are you really so dim that you don't understand the difference between pure chaotic randomness and the well-structured randomness that actually makes for good gameplay? Or are you just being deliberately disingenuous?

     

    Games that offer random modes generally put a hell of a lot of logic into ensuring the result feels somewhat intelligently designed. Trevor McFur's levels do not feel designed at all.

     

    Was that insult really necessary?

    It's not the voicing the opinion that carries the entitlement, it's the way you keep going on about the issue like it's just the worst thing in the world. Things aren't at an ideal state yet, but they're far better than they were even just 10 years ago in regards to accessibility to homebrews and new games.

     

    Regardless, that's way beyond the scope of this thread. Let's get things back on track.

    But the worst of all, and the main reason why Jeffrey is getting so much negative attention, is selling a game in that state and falsely claiming the problems have been fixed.

     

    That's the key issue right there. Keep on making games, Jeffrey, please! But if you're going to sell them, put them through some decent QA first, which you obviously didn't do with FF64. You have a large group of people here willing to test your games, make use of them. If bugs are encountered, fix the ones that you can and ask for help for the ones that baffle you. Granted, some of the other devs could be a little more helpful in that regard, but still...

     

    And with that, let's keep discussion of the game to the game itself instead of constantly piliing on Jeffrey.

    Seriously how do you expect me to react to that after we just spoke in PM about Downfall and you immediately make that thread!

     

    The thread was meant as an announcement to clear up confusion about the issue, not as an attack against you. If you felt attacked by it, then you need some thicker skin.

     

    I'm really get sick of people accusing me and telling me I feel entitled to do something I am NOT nor want to do

     

     

    However I feel it is ridiculous that that game should be allowed a lock-down for eternity. If its OK to port, hack, translate, and so on other games w/out permission. In my opinion a homebrew game that has been abandoned for over a decade does not maintain any more rights than any other non-homebrew game that has been altered/reproduced w/out permission.

     

    I get all the Homebrewers rights should be honored but be realist here. People say on day 1 this is for the community and to support fellow gamers, then on day 2 the community means jack and it is ONLY about preserving the value a piece of plastic has. Homebrewers FAIL the community and followers when they release their games in limited quantity.

     

    It's hard not to accuse you of entitlement when you make statements like this and carry on like a spoiled brat when denied permission to sell copies of someone else's game.

    Tell me again what games I feel I have the right to make against the wishes of the author? I never said I had the right to make Downfall nor did I sell, trade, or distribute that game. I never said It's my right to make any game I make.

     

    No, but you only carried on like a petulant child when told no, crying publicly about it and causing a big stink. Now here you are again, completely overreacting to something that you misunderstood and also that had absolutely nothing to do with you. It's a classic case of projection.

    LOL why stop now? You already bashed the guy and belittled him to death over his review which was lets face it is HIS.

     

    Talk about an extreme overreaction. Christos was just offering his own critique of the review, there was absolutely no bashing going on in his comment.

     

     

    It is unbelievable to me the amount of negativity and feelings of entitlement I see in the forum.

     

    Coming from someone who thinks it's their right to make bootlegs of any games they want despite the wishes of the authors, this comment just makes me laugh.

    Edit: To Sauron's point, I'm sure Bradley is up there in years now and investing in a new website with a fancy shopping cart and all that is likely more trouble than it's worth for him. Don't like it? Don't buy from him, it's pretty simple.

     

    That was pretty much my point in what I said. When dealing with him, it's his way or the highway. If it works for him, then he won't ever see the need to change.

    I just want to touch up on the CC# thing a bit more. When I first came to this site I knew nothing of best electronics and have never purchased from him and I'll be honest here I went off "faith" of members here to purchase from him and I did. However if I stumbled across his site at Random there is no way I would have handed some random person I knew nothing about my CC#.

     

    I generally as many other people generally will not buy w/out using paypal for transactions like that. Just think how many people click his site just to leave because they do not feel comfortable and have no idea whom he is.

     

    So here in this community it seems like a no brainer to purchase from him the way he currently deals but I would bet he would make more sales if he had a better check-out method.

     

    Considering he has a non-replenishing supply of stock and is essentially a one man operation now, I think he's happy with the current arrangement.

    Good stuff, shame people have to sign up again to have the last word, and we are the childish ones. seesh.

     

    Nobody needs this BS from people. Myself and others have been working a lot on various things, and such posts of negativity are just from people who seem to have nothing better to do. So leave the real work to the grown ups then I guess as usual.

     

    No forum is safe or enjoyable anymore. many agree. I have better things to do with my time than reply to negativity all the time. I don't even bother to read most replies anymore, no point. seems the rise of people going against what I do or say is on the rise. no point posting anything as everything gets spammed to the point that the original post gets lost. Just no point saying anything anymore.

     

    Its been ongoing for probably 2 years now, only gets worse. When the so called tech experts go against things I do or say, its just time to move on. I really had enough and don't care anymore.

     

    My site and blog will have updates, though at least people can't pollute my stuff there. If people don't like what I put, then bugger off, simple. stay out of my way and everything will be fine.

     

    Sorry things weren't stopped sooner. That particular user has caused flamewars more than once here. If anything like that happens again, please be sure to use the "Report" feature to make sure the mods can deal with it ASAP.

    You know you keep mentioning experience when it's convenient for you. But you discard the words of a programmer who has over 20 years experience in the architecture being discussed. Not convenient, discard.

     

    Because said programmer is a raving lunatic who talked a lot of bluster but produced very little. Anything he has to say deserves a high degree of scrutiny.

    Idiot? OK. Name calling and misdirection has begun.

     

    To sum up looking at Scatos work on the DSP and HVS able to get the DSP to multi-task IMO Dave Taylor wasn't a fantastic programmer. And that's why there's no music in JagDoom. Hell there's even music during gameplay in Iron Soldier.

     

    And all that kicking and whining in the interview was probably because Dave Taylors time with the Jag showed him something about himself he probably didn't want to see.

     

    That's my opinion so I will leave you guys alone to proceed with the name calling and misdirection to confuse anyone who comes after.

    "Idiot" is an appropriate term for this situation. Dave Taylor already had a good amount of commercial game dev experience by that point in his career. You have exactly none. Comparing Doom to other games is an apples to oranges thing, it's ridiculous to do and proves absolutely nothing. But go ahead and take your ball and go home. Watching you continuously put your foot in your mouth is becoming embarrassing.

    But anyway, I never said Tramiel wasn't legit Atari. I just said the current owner is just as legit as he was, since Tramiel essentially formed a new company from the wreckage.

     

    You're spinning in circular logic regarding Warner keeping Atari, so I'll just let that die in the breeze to address this. Tramiel still relied heavily on the assets of the old Atari for a while as a cash cow to fund the ST's development. Tramiel Atari was a direct continuation of Warner Atari. Modern day "InfoAtari" is a direct continuation of a dead IP. There's a pretty damn big difference between the two.

    Its a bit sad ...there are few enough of them that prices are stupid high, but there isn't enough real demand for anyone to build a reproduction or alternative controller.

     

    To the contrary, I'm willing to bet that a good high quality repro or alternative controller would be in high demand. It's not like the Jag is swimming in third party controllers.

    I must also point out that Nick was also responsible for getting Thea Realm Fighters out into the community for all to enjoy. Lets not focus only on the negatives ok? Seriously.

     

    Nick has been around the Jag scene for quite a long time, and he makes some excellent rotary controllers. However, that doesn't absolve him from selling pirate copies of homebrew games without permission. You seem to have a knack for joining forces with personae non gratae. I'm not gonna be up in arms about that as much as some others will be, but man...you need to exercise some better judgement in who you associate with. Otherwise you can't complain if people hold you accountable for bad things that members of your team do.

    Yeah I know what you're saying. It's maxed out. And so let's cut that in half. 64x64. That's still what like 4 times PlayStation's potential.

     

    Or we can be really conservative and just go 32 by 32. That's still double PlayStations output.

     

    @Lost Dragon I was just told that people with experience and code to show are considered authorities. Now your saying it's speculation. Flip flop.

     

    Just trying to get a handle on what Authority is.

     

    You're quoting speculation about what the Jag could theoretically do and comparing it against what the PSX has been proven to do. And I can tell you that the Jag has been proven to not be able to handle it's theoretical output in practice, all due to certain design decisions and flaws.

     

    No one will argue the fact that the Jag is a beast when it comes to 2D graphics, but really...there's never been anything done on the Jag that couldn't be done on it's contemporary competition also. Trying to blame that fact on "bad programmers" or whatever else just makes you look like an idiot. So please, for your own sake...stop saying that stuff.
