Anyone have a cart of Super Burnout to sell to me ?
Sauron replied to AtariBrian's topic in Atari Jaguar
Doesn't Brad still do the catalogs? That's always been the best way to find what you need, and always the way he recommended looking for something. -
Various ST new kits & items on sale in my webshop
Sauron replied to exxosuk's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I just booted Greenious from the thread. He sure seems to have a lot of anger issues, as almost all of his posts on this forum are negative. -
I wouldn't hold your breath on any game from Psygnosis, if I were you. Dragon Breed has already been done.

Stupid Noob Question Regarding the Jaguar Motorola 68000
Sauron replied to Ctoan's topic in Atari Jaguar
Please stop. -
Because said programmer is a raving lunatic who talked a lot of bluster but produced very little. Anything he has to say deserves a high degree of scrutiny.

Want a pro controller, what is the maximum I should pay ?
Sauron replied to Stephen g's topic in Atari Jaguar
There are a few. -
"Idiot" is an appropriate term for this situation. Dave Taylor already had a good amount of commercial game dev experience by that point in his career. You have exactly none. Comparing Doom to other games is an apples to oranges thing, it's ridiculous to do and proves absolutely nothing. But go ahead and take your ball and go home. Watching you continuously put your foot in your mouth is becoming embarrassing.

Sauron replied to Stephen g's topic in Atari Jaguar
Outside of a few unconventional variants, including rotaries made from stock Jag controllers, no one has made a serious attempt at a controller. Speaking of which...whatever happened to this guy? -
You're spinning in circular logic regarding Warner keeping Atari, so I'll just let that die in the breeze to address this. Tramiel still relied heavily on the assets of the old Atari for a while as a cash cow to fund the ST's development. Tramiel Atari was a direct continuation of Warner Atari. Modern day "InfoAtari" is a direct continuation of a dead IP. There's a pretty damn big difference between the two.

To the contrary, I'm willing to bet that a good high quality repro or alternative controller would be in high demand. It's not like the Jag is swimming in third party controllers. -
Nick has been around the Jag scene for quite a long time, and he makes some excellent rotary controllers. However, that doesn't absolve him from selling pirate copies of homebrew games without permission. You seem to have a knack for joining forces with personae non gratae. I'm not gonna be up in arms about that as much as some others will be, but man...you need to exercise some better judgement in who you associate with. Otherwise you can't complain if people hold you accountable for bad things that members of your team do.
-
You're quoting speculation about what the Jag could theoretically do and comparing it against what the PSX has been proven to do. And I can tell you that the Jag has been proven to not be able to handle it's theoretical output in practice, all due to certain design decisions and flaws. No one will argue the fact that the Jag is a beast when it comes to 2D graphics, but really...there's never been anything done on the Jag that couldn't be done on it's contemporary competition also. Trying to blame that fact on "bad programmers" or whatever else just makes you look like an idiot. So please, for your own sake...stop saying that stuff.

Then why are you working in collaboration with a known troublemaker?

The ProController is a great controller, probably one of my all-time favorite console controllers. It improved on the standard Jag controller in almost every way. Having said that, though...no. -
I'll be intrigued by it once I know what it actually is. Most everyone here seems to be operating under the assumption that it's a game console of some sort, and I'm not quite sure that it is.
-
What we know for certain is that Atari was in dire financial straits and needed a buyer quickly. Considering how little Jack actually paid for Atari, it's safe to assume that Warner most likely would have folded Atari and sold off its remaining assets. And claiming Warner would have been better in the console market is a bit ridiculous, considering that the last Warner era console (the 5200) was a failure and I believe sold worse than the 7800. Your "what ifs" completely ignore the reality of the situation back in 1984. And regardless, this has nothing to do with the assertion that Tramiel era Atari should be considered "real Atari".
-
Tramiel era Atari is just as much "Atari" as the Bushnell/Warner era. They were just focused more on computers, but did manage to survive and even thrive for a short while, something that wouldn't have happened had Jack not bought Atari from Warner. So yes, real "Atari" died after the JTS merger.

LOLWUT? Read that quote again, and focus on the last sentence. If you still don't understand exactly what it's saying, then think of the following quote before typing out another reply:

Your guess on what OS will Ataribox be using?
Sauron replied to koolaidpickle's topic in Modern Console Discussion
TOS is the obvious answer. Unless it's an 8 bit system, then probably Atari DOS 2.5. -
A Bit Of Bad Information In This Video About The Jag
Sauron replied to JaguarGod's topic in Atari Jaguar
I say "Jag-wahr" all the time, which is close enough. -
Let's see...choose between someone who is obviously very knowledgeable about the Jag architecture with plenty of coding examples against someone who obviously knows nothing about it and has a long history of speaking out of their ass. What a tough choice!
-
You're much more likely to get System 7 running on a Jag than Linux. Or even System 7 on a Genesis, for that matter.
-
So yes, just discount the facts and focus on the opinions. The facts themselves still shoot down your argument.

Oh, good god...please don't tell me you just tried to compare WMCJ with Doom. WMCJ has a much smaller play area to render. WMCJ doesn't use raycasting or lighting effects. WMCJ (most likely) isn't using the DSP for additional processing outside of audio. WMCJ is an unplayable mess, whereas Doom is a pretty good port of one of the best games of all time. If this is true, then you've just proven beyond all doubt that you aren't the least bit rational.
