The ProController is a great controller, probably one of my all-time favorite console controllers. It improved on the standard Jag controller in almost every way. Having said that, though...no.

I'm intrigued by the ataribox
I'll be intrigued by it once I know what it actually is. Most everyone here seems to be operating under the assumption that it's a game console of some sort, and I'm not quite sure that it is.
-
We don't know that for certain. If Warner didn't sell it, we know the market would have recovered it eventually. Sure they would have had to make cuts. But in this alternate universe, Warner Atari would have likely been better positioned against Nintendo. They probably wouldn't have had the GCC/7800 contract issue that kept Tramiel from selling the system for two years, they had a deal to market the NES in the works, and they might have even gotten the Amiga chipset in the end.
What we know for certain is that Atari was in dire financial straits and needed a buyer quickly. Considering how little Jack actually paid for Atari, it's safe to assume that Warner most likely would have folded Atari and sold off its remaining assets. And claiming Warner would have been better in the console market is a bit ridiculous, considering that the last Warner era console (the 5200) was a failure and I believe sold worse than the 7800. Your "what ifs" completely ignore the reality of the situation back in 1984.
And regardless, this has nothing to do with the assertion that Tramiel era Atari should be considered "real Atari".

I used to believe it ended with the JTS merger, and anything after that was just Atari in name only.
But then I realized how little the Tramiel Atari had to do with Bushnell Atari. So they were kinda Atari in name only too. So now I see it as whoever owns the name now could be just as legit. I only wish it was owned by someone competent with resources who could legitimately do something with it and revitalize the brand, instead of being the mark of doom it has become
Tramiel era Atari is just as much "Atari" as the Bushnell/Warner era. They were just focused more on computers, but did manage to survive and even thrive for a short while, something that wouldn't have happened had Jack not bought Atari from Warner. So yes, real "Atari" died after the JTS merger.

Hmm..
Knowledge of architecture, coding examples= authority. Got it.
Here's someone who fits that description and here's what he had to say about 2D on the Jag:
I do believe that teabags Orions PSX claim of a paltry showing of 16x16.
LOLWUT? Read that quote again, and focus on the last sentence. If you still don't understand exactly what it's saying, then think of the following quote before typing out another reply:
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

TOS is the obvious answer. Unless it's an 8 bit system, then probably Atari DOS 2.5.

Anyone that pronounces Jaguar: Jag-wire... instantly loses all cred. If they even had any to begin with.

I say "Jag-wahr" all the time, which is close enough.

This thread is about why Jag Doom has no music during gameplay. I put in my two cents and that's how I feel about it. People can read my words and compare them with others and if they agree with me fine. Or they can take Zerosquare and whoever's words and say hey I agree with them. That's also fine with me.
Let's see...choose between someone who is obviously very knowledgeable about the Jag architecture with plenty of coding examples against someone who obviously knows nothing about it and has a long history of speaking out of their ass. What a tough choice!

You're much more likely to get System 7 running on a Jag than Linux. Or even System 7 on a Genesis, for that matter.

Except for the playfield comment and raycast comment all the rest was pure opinion. Same old same old around here.
So yes, just discount the facts and focus on the opinions. The facts themselves still shoot down your argument.

Here is WMCJ, similar to Doom with full screen pseudo 3D scaling bitmaps and it has music during gameplay.
Oh, good god...please don't tell me you just tried to compare WMCJ with Doom.
WMCJ has a much smaller play area to render.
WMCJ doesn't use raycasting or lighting effects.
WMCJ (most likely) isn't using the DSP for additional processing outside of audio.
WMCJ is an unplayable mess, whereas Doom is a pretty good port of one of the best games of all time.
All rational people are experts when it comes to judging things that are right in front of their eyes.
If this is true, then you've just proven beyond all doubt that you aren't the least bit rational.

Behold, Fast Food 64 on Cartridge..... also known by madman and friends as the toxic poison specially concocted to destroy the homebrew Jag scene. No shortage of imagination around here folks. Lol.

This kind of passive-aggressive behavior isn't doing you any favors.

Right, which we all know you are an expert on, especially regarding the Jag's abilities.

Others in the same boat did far better with the DSP than Taylor. HVS etc.
Others in the same boat weren't making the same game. But of course you can continue to live in your fantasy world believing that the Jaguar was as powerful as the PSX. It's apparent by now that no amount of facts will deter your fantasy.

Good work! It's a fun little game.

Same output voltages, the PSU accepts 100-240V input so it'll work. It's probably cheaper just to find whatever Chinese OEM PSU they used and a Y-cable and grab that vs shipping from Europe.
Considering I'm already in Europe, the shipping costs won't be a problem.
-
What CJ said. The Jag could easily emulate the Genesis. The problem is finding someone to do the necessary work for it to happen.

Felyx, thanks for posting that! I was wondering what I was gonna do about the power supplies for my Jag and Jag CD. Will those by any chance work on NTSC Jags?

You could have red 'fire' ants which would cause swelling for a period of time. Too much swelling and the finger stops.
Exactly what I was thinking. Anyone who's ever lived in "fire ant" territory automatically thinks of them (and their painful stings) when they hear the word "ants".

what is a good tool for jag development... that doesn't use c scripting
Um, pretty much every development tool created for Jag development.

I never ever said "ALL". that is a word you read into it on your own. As for JS2, the drama was there long before i joined that forum, the drama _is_ the community and if you tell me im bunching everone here together where i never did, do find the qoute where i did, maybe you shouldnt be singling someone out where a lot more people were to blame. Bringing that up in and of itself is creating drama Sauron. Dont create even more drama and then tell everyone to calm down. If people on AA werent so quick to bunch up on people, there wouldnt be that rep all over the atari scene. You have no clue what went on behind the scenes and i have no reason to fill you in. Most people left that behind years ago, and maybe you should as well.
You didn't have to say "all", that's implied when you label AA as a whole, which is what you are doing repeatedly. And the only reason I'm bringing up your drama is to show that those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. We have a word for that in English, it's called "hypocrisy".
Just calm down about Jeff's game. He is simply trying to contribute, and if he made mistakes he is trying to rectify, there is no reason for people to call him a scammer, or tell him other unecessery criticism. You are all very civilized when your popular "in house" developers create a thread of a game. Why not give Jeff the same courtesy? Im not here to be on a high hourse, i made my comment in an attempt to dismount some of you. People have already judged me on what T2Kfreaker, Chrisjag etc has chosen to say about me, but left out how they acted themselves, and im too sick of the drama to even try to defend myself. It is useless. People are vicious online where there are no social consequences, and when you point that out, you get attacked. Thats AA, that was JS2, that is wherever you take an argument where hotheaded people rule. If you want the perfect example, go to neo-geo.com and disagree with the regulars. See what happens.
What exactly do you define as "unnecessary criticism"? Sure, we're all civilized when other devs create a game. However, they tend to spend a lot more time testing and fixing bugs. Believe me, I've been testing Reboot's games for years, and you wouldn't believe the number of revisions that we tend to go through for each release before anyone outside of the group even sees the game. It's not at all unreasonable to ask another developer to at least do due diligence with their own games.
I am calm, i am not upset just because i call bullshit when i see it. What makes me upset is how people are treating Jeff after he tried to do the right thing, saying "oh but you did that! you did this!" He changed. He removed the games you guys wanted seen gone from his shop. He sent new copies to people who bought the buggy game. Give him slack and stop bringing up ancient bs to discredit me for sticking up for him. Hate me all you want, but give Jeff a chance ok? He did all you guys asked.
When someone goes out of their way to state they are calm, that usually means they aren't. However, I agree with you in a sense in that some of the dogpiling has been a little over the top. Hence, why I locked the thread before he gave an explanation, and why I'll lock it again if it continues.

A whole host of people were a bit quick to possie up though.
Can't really disgree, but at the same time, when something like this happens, everyone tends to give their opinion of the situation. "Possying up" on someone isn't always an intended action.
