Ok, that didn't take long. Unlocking it per Jeffrey_Bones' request.

Ok guys, that's enough. I'm locking this thread for now. If Jeffrey_Bones would like to add any kind of explanation, I'll unlock the thread so he can do so.

Been trying it out. Some stuff seems to work pretty well, other stuff not so much. Controls in the games that work seems very laggy, and some games have problems with sound. The emulator is far from being user friendly. I haven't done anything near comprehensive testing, but as I see it right now, the claims of 95% compatibility seem greatly exaggerated.

Wonder if it would be possible to do a hack with the music added....
CJ is good about upgrading music for a lot of the ST ports, not sure why it couldn't be done with Doom.
Because it's about a lot more than just inserting music. If it were that easy, Doom would have shipped with in-game music.

My other "nonsensical posts" are only nonsensical to people that can't understand them.
Which means pretty much everyone except for yourself. Stay on topic, please.

Ideally, the type of monitor you would want is a multisync that can handle both VGA and RGB. Like Chris said, many early games and demos (as well as ST games) require RGB. Multisyncs are getting quite hard to find though.

Ports are IMHO money grabs, because they're often farmed out to the cheapest bidder whom is told to convert this into that. Subtleties are lost. And in the instances when the port is nearly pixel-perfect, extra hardware resources of the new host machine often go unused. But hey, it is what it is.
And this and your other nonsensical posts have what to do with the topic of this thread?

Just one small suggestion that I have as well...you might want to look into trying to fix up some of the glitches that the game experiences in the emulators (namely VJ). While that can be a total pain in the ass to do at times, I think it's worth it. A lot of people who might consider buying a physical copy may not have a Skunkboard and will give the game a spin in an emu first, and it's worth it to make a good first impression with that. I'd be happy to do some additional VJ testing for you if necessary.

What would a whole set consist of. I also need to find a suitable material. As far as homebrews you better check and make sure I will not get crucified first.
I don't think there are any homebrew authors who would care one way or another about making overlays for their games.

It was tested by several people not just me.
Who all was on the testing team, and how many of them have experience with testing a shipped product before? I agree 100% with CyranoJ. This game certainly has a lot of potential, but right now it's very broken. And please don't take that as a bash against you or the game, as that's not my intention at all. I honestly think the game needs a bit more time in the oven before it's ready for release.

I'm thinking of writing one long summary/article, with realworld benchmark numbers, what's jag fast at and what it isn't, but there's still so much more to discover...
Then get to it! *cracks the whip*

By that standard, why discuss anything? It's all been discussed by someone else before.
You're right, there's nothing wrong with discussing topics that have been discussed before. However, Zerosquare also has a valid point. This is one of the topics that has been endlessly discussed in countless other threads. I'm thinking of stickying one of the countless other threads so we can keep discussion of this topic in one place.

Sauron, its pertinent to the conversation because its a game made by Jeff Minter. The dummy quoting me even chimed in about Space Giraffe which also is not a Jaguar game, so yeah, your reasoning is pretty suspect.
Stop getting so bent out of shape. You're both arguing about something that has strayed far from the subject of the thread. Besides, you know what they say about arguing on the internet...

Golly!
I wouldn't want to be a foolish, know-nothing, dinosaur-thinking, work-horse-riding neck beard.
Not when I could be
oh MAYAman, you're so cool.jpga pudgy, wired-up shut-in! Gosh, I've been such a cotton-headed ninnymuggin.
I guess I'd better point myself at one of the many PSVR bundles selling below cost on eBay. That's always a sure sign of a hot ticket item. A few of them say, "only used once!" Obviously, that means the sellers simply weren't cool enough to handle something quite so
Thanks for changing my mind with your charm and persuasion!
You just won the Atari Age Jaguar Forum Post of the Year award. And let the irony of it having nothing at all to do with the Jag be lost on no one.

Anyone here into CCGs, whether online or in real life? I started playing Hearthstone about a month or so ago and I've quickly become addicted. It was just like my Magic: The Gathering addiction that I had shortly after it first came out. I've also checked out Magic Duels on Steam, as well as the Gwent public beta. I recently bought a M:TG duel decks starter kit and was gifted another starter deck (although the cards are in Russian). Just curious if there are any other CCG addicts here. I'm sure there are.

Also, please note that this is all just scratching the surface. We still haven't touched DSP, which basically gives us another GPU performance-wise (just with half bandwidth to the RAM).
Much less than that once you start using a sound engine.
May I make a request? Start putting together a demo that would simulate all of the necessary pieces of a game (sprites, models, overlays, sound, etc.). Seeing the barebones demos is nice, but it still doesn't tell us much of anything until you start accounting for other in-game assets in some way.

Calm down on the name-caling, guys.

Are any of these Minter games available (with Jeff Minter's blessing of course) from the AA store just yet? Ready to PM AL if so!! If not is that still happening?
No, you missed all of the copies. They're all sold out, and no more are being made, so gotta pay the scalper tax on ebay now.
Just kidding. You'd already know if they were available yet.

This would probably be more appropriate in the Web Site Comments forum. Moving it there.

I would totally buy this. But it needs mouse support, otherwise it would be unplayable. Maybe Carl Forhan can just get the source code from the Atari ST version and port it.
Ok, we get it.

I made a few best offers, but no bites. Then, my wife asked me for my "want list" so she could buy me a gift. Turns out this was on the list. She saw I made a few "offers" on ebay and took that as I really wanted it. She ended up getting it for $185. WOW! Huge discount! It did arrive and I am happy with it. Fun little filler title. Not $180 fun, but definitely worth half that to me. (considering a lot of games are t $80 to $120) It was a great gift, it was one game I would have never bought because of the price.....those are the best kinda gifts.
As far as the game, it is Battle Ship, not much else. Has a few little twists like Helicopters and the ability to avoid missles. I am happy to report it is fun. The box is not up to Gaz's, but it is not too bad. Looks much better in person than in pictures/videos. The manual looks pretty nice, I was surprised....
Here is my take:
Game is actually really fun. Took us one game to figure out the controls and what was going on. The next game was fun, the next was also fun, and so was the third. We somehow got sucked into the game (2 player) and were laughing and yelling at end of game(the ability to some what avoid missiles makes it exciting). Seems to be a good "filler" type game. Pop it in for 2-3 games every few weeks. Graphics are simple, very basic. Not much else besides a Battle Ship clone. But it is fun. If you have a 2nd player, you should enjoy it. By no means is it worth $200, but it is a fun title. Seeing a lot of games on the Jag are expensive, this one is at least fun and enjoyable. I wish he would have priced it at $80 and sold a few hundred, then it would seem like a good deal. Somehow, I am happy with it. SO, if you are a Jag nut and want a rare fun little title (and money grows on trees), grab it. I plan on keeping mine. For some reason, my son really likes it. Every game we play turns out to be extremely close and exciting. Not sure how long that excitement will last, but for now we are having a good time with it! If your expectations aren't too high (like $200 high
) then it is fun. Thanks for the review. Are you planning on posting a video of it?

Fast Food 2600/VCS Remake
in Atari Jaguar
Posted
Oh wow, yet another one of these. I like how you lump ALL of AA in together as one bunch. Get off your high horse. After the drama that you created on JS2, you have no room to be calling out anyone here for any kind of behavior.
One person used the word "scammer" in regards to Jeff, and I agree that that phrase is a bit harsh. I'll also agree that everyone should cut him some slack. He made some bad decisions and he's been trying to make amends. We could all do with calming down a bit, yourself included. Don't lump all of AA together when one or two people make harsh comments.
