This game is available for ALL STANDARD Atari XL/XE with 64KB, thanks to cartridge called "Corina" (designed by Zenon and Nosty, maximum 1MB ROM memory, additional 8KB EEPROM to keep game scores, records, etc and real-time clock as option). However, GR8 Software holded up production of this game due to lack of time (GR8 Software is the one person only company). You can prepare "Corina" cartridge yourself as design/documentation is available free. Than you can run it on your XL (even without memory extension). You should be happy that authors of "Corina" 1) spend their time for development game and cartridge, 2) made it free for all, 3) ask Laoo to prepare special feature for Atari++ emulator which let you check the game before you will invest money into building your own cart. You can also play "Yie Ar Kung Fu", earlier but playable version of "Yie Another Kung Fu" (needed 256 or 320KB, depends on version). One more word about game requirements: as Candle explained, that cartridge offered 1MB of memory for coders. It means that Vega, author of game could work without saving memory... and he didn't . Normally this game would need less than 320KB.

Yes, it is very interesting project praised on easy-to-read code and fast execution. Thanks to Rudolf, author of the project. BTW: it could be smart to subscribe RSS news from atarionline.pl too , because this Atalan fever started from JKR's game "Atalan The Snake": http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1281343772&archive=&start_from=0&ucat=1&ct=nowinki Nosty prepared the next game in Atalan called "Atalan Sokoban" (new levels, different than in another Atari 8-bit productions): http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1282515305&archive=&start_from=0&ucat=1&ct=nowinki The best game so far was prepared by Jakub Husak (yep, this guy known from Mirage games in 90's) who is engaged in compiler development: http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1283379305&archive=&start_from=0&ucat=1&ct=nowinki You can find some interesting dicussion about Atalan on Forum Atarum: http://atarionline.pl/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=595&page=2#Item_35 http://atarionline.pl/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=932&page=1#Item_8 http://atarionline.pl/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=934&page=1#Item_10

That intro music is really cool. Music from "Wings of Death" on ST/STE, by Jochan Hippel, converted for Pokey by Miker. http://home.wtal.de/gmb/Hippel/hippelm.htm

Franklyn plays Zybex theme! http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.phtml?subaction=showfull&id=1272844501&archive=&start_from=0&ucat=1&ct=nowinki -
TDC should speak for himself, but knowing his circumstances I think it will take some weeks to prepare final version. There is too many planned changes to make it earlier.
-
Well, we can either use a Windows screen shooters, but this is not comfortable solution too. I vote for screenshot save option in Altirra
-
Anyway, now that you are on the map, Chris knows where to find you! Nowadays it would be more painful to sell his email to all big spamers!
-
I prepared version with clouds coloured up by PM and/or DLI. TDC will decide what will appear in final version. No, it's not. The gameplay is'nt well-balanced yet. There was no time to test and consider it before the party.

I'm not jealous
-
It's on my wish list too! BTW: Phaeron - you're doing incredible things (including VirtualDub I often use), thanks!

If you like shoot'em up games like "Zybex", "The Extirpator" or "Laser Hawk" you should also try Tomcat (well, F-14 versus aliens ), new game made by Tomasz "TDC" Cieslewicz (code), Kaz (gfx) and Michal "Miker" Szpilowski (msx) prepared for Grzybsoniada 2010 party. We plan to prepare a little better version after party. The article about on AtariOnline.pl: http://www.atarionline.pl/v01/index.phtml?ct=nowinki&id=1272750803&ucat=1&subaction=showfull#spodek You don't need to know story behind the game (however, you can read it on AtariOnline.pl via Google Translator), just fly and shoot aliens! You can collect bonuses - P means extra Points, L - additional lives, D - doubled or even quadrupled weapon. Look at video, especially 3rd level where the plane got extra weapon, there are about 50 moving objects on the screen at the same time (it is "Action!" language in action): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ughacs_Zrf4 and some screenshots: Download here: http://www.atarionline.pl/v01/index.phtml?ct=katalog&sub=T&tg=Tomcat#Tomcat

Tomasz Lewandowski, known as Levi from Samar group (years ago on Atari demoscene), just returned to Atari hobby with new game "TLC". This is project started years ago and finished now. You can read more about on AtariOnline.pl, use Google translator button to read in English. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZfL3QpESCw Direct link to ATR file: http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.phtml?ct=katalog&sub=T&tg=TLC#TLC Please remember this game requires 128KB to run.

Well, if it would be CPU in the same computer architecture... maybe. But it is not. Look at xxl's movie. Compare Elite game (needed a lot of math) on Atari (6502 1.3MHz) and BBC Micro (6512 2MHz). The first one is faster... Thus, it seems that CPU clock speed is not superior factor in general computer performance.
