  2. Results: http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.phtml?subaction=showfull&id=1262830253&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&ct=nowinki Congratulation to Ozz, Irwin, Piesiu and other participants!
  3. I think I have to paint some historical background first. Most of these books were published in 80/90's, when Poland was communist or just post-communist country (we had our revolution and the beginning of democracy in 1989/1990). There wasn't law protected copyrighted software nor prints from West countries till 1994, Poland and other East countries didn't sign an international intellectual property acts. The piracy of computer software was habitual and ordinary, even in public companies. It also influenced books business. You could re-print, translate or "fix" Chris' book without permission, you could write your own book and week later find other people selling photocoopies of your work . Thus, don't be suprised that Andrzej Leszczynki published De-Re Atari in Polish with changes or supplement for XL/XE version. It was partially his work, legal at that time. Sure, you can find some original and fine books like "Asembler 6502" by Jan Ruszczyc (many Polish Atari coders started from this one), "Atari Basic" by Wieslaw Migut (the most popular book in Poland about basics of Atari computers, very usufull for beginners, with some assembler introduction). "Poradnik konstruktora" ("Constructor Guide") by Irenusz Wiater - it is like homebrew print. Ireneusz collected a lot of interesting articles from computer magazines and books, ordered them and here it is... kind of Atari hardware compendium . "What is yet possible to do with the Atari XL XE computers" I and II by Zaskiewicz is also half-original. Janusz collected a lot of interesting ideas from computer magazines and books, added his own concepts and descriptions... and we got very interesting and original book. "Atari, How to program your own games" it's terribly translated re-print of book in English, I don't remember original title. "The 6502 microprocessor and its family" is original book. "Jak zostac niesmiertelnym" ("How to get immortality" (in games)" is original, written for C64 user, but can be useful for Atari cracker/hackers too. "Poradnik programisty Atari" (Atari programmer guide" is original book of Wojciech Zientara, this is not an assembler introduction or learning, jest a helper for programmers. Thus, I'm sure you can find proper books in English for assembler beginners or learners. It can be harder to find substitutes of this "homebrew" prints.
  4. Well, almost all titles published by LK Avalon, Mirage and other Polish firms were released exclusively for Atari 8-bit. Except some most successful games like Robbo (also for PC and C64). I suppose the same was in Germany, where for example Kemal Ezcan had released his games.
  5. You downloaded them from AtariOnline.pl library. There are more: http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.phtml?subaction=showfull&id=1203469381&archive=&start_from=0&ucat=8&ct=biblioteka I wouldn't expect someone will translate them into English.
  6. "Robbo" from LK Avalon has construction set titled "Robbo Konstruktor". Moreover, we got free PC version "Robbo Kreator".
  7. 1. Gfx compo rules demand to show TWO pictures per mockup - title and ingame screens. The Beyond Evil ingame graphics was made by PG, I didn't have time to ask him about permission or to create absolutely new screen (December was very busy for me). 2. I have a lot of mockup screens on my harddisk, I had to made selection
  8. The authors have prefered to keep it in secret However, you can see that some of mockups are impossible to turn into the real game and some of them looks like WIP.

  11. Happy New Year for all Atarians! I also would like to thanks for kind words send to me.
  12. Thanks for voting guys! I mostly used a OliverPAL.act unless author of particular picture required to use another palette (usually it was g2f.act). It seems to be the closest to real hardware. However, nothing is better than real Atari! Even an every model of Atari has different palette settings
  13. The first part of gfx compo works are released on AtariOnline.pl: http://atarionline.pl/v01/index.phtml?subaction=showfull&id=1261969164&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&ct=nowinki There are 23 masterpieces from 9 authors. You can vote in this threat on Atari Age or in comments area on AtariOnline.pl(remember to provide your AA nickname, I'm going to confirm votes from nicknames I don't recognize). Voting scale from 0 (crap) to 10 (masterpiece). Voting till the end of 3rd January 2010. There are most important voting rules. You can get more details about voting on AOL webpage using Google Translator. Enjoy pictures! The next part of gfx compo (mockup) tommorow. I hope
  14. There is the rule #1: we should be able to run a file on real hardware - Atari XL/XE 64kB, PAL version. There is no restriction to gfx format - it can be selfexecutable or file intended to open in gfx application (like RAM-Brandt or XL-Art), however you should inform witch program we should use to open it. It will be public voting on AOL between 28th of December and 2nd of January. No financial or material prizes although pictures will be published in Polish edition of famous "CHIP" magazine (for sure on attached DVD, maybe some of the best pictures in print) because "CHIP Online.pl" is our media supporter.
  15. Some of you know that Atari demoscene is not overactive, especially comparing to C64 or ZX Spectrum scene. I'd decided to help increase number of this year demoscene masterpieces by organizing gfx compo in two categories: the best mockup and the best original picture. We just got several pictures from graphic artists (I've shown bits of them here) and it looks promising. Meanwhile two guys asked about deadline extension and the rest of participants agreed. Thus, I can officialy state that deadline for AOL gfx compo is ending at 27th of December 2009. If you would like to join us - you are very welcome! The first category is for graphicians who'd like to be compared with the best Atari gfx magicians (yes, Powrooz is participating too) , but even people who can't draw his own pictures can take a part in that, because we have the second category - for mockups and we allow screen conversions from other platforms. Emkay, Allas, Rybags, Irgendwer and other people from AtariAge, who like playing with gfx - I'm talking to you! We need your imagination, your creativity and your participation. Let's help to save the Atari demoscene and have a fun!
  16. Dracon has seen this game in 1995/6 during presentation in StanBit (Polish Atari games developer in old times) and inform me about last year. The game has never been released because 1994/95 was the end of market for Atari games in Poland and even last developers/distributors (like StanBit, Domain Software) refused to publish it. It became a myst for years . Fortunatly, I realized that authors of the game (Bartek Selinger, Pawel Selinger) are coming from the same city (Wroclaw) and moreover, they lived next street to my parents' home . I planned to visit them some day, but earlier I cought Bartek by email and phone. It was easy to track him because he is co-author of "Call of Juarez" - new hit game for modern pc and consoles. After some months Bartek found box with his old Atari stuff and send disc to Larek from our AtariOnline.pl team. Larek usually recovers hard-to-read discs . This time was no problems and we got both copies of the game - with and without immortality. I also hope that Bartek will come for next KWAS meeting in January/February (KWAS is acronym in Polish for "Next Atari Meeting in Wroclaw", you know... beer and Atari, everybody is welcome ). So, will be chance to talk to him about all details.
  17. Yes, it is "Ghost and Goblins"-like game. There were more followers (i.e. "Ghostly Goblins", "The Domain of the Undead" and "Hobgoblin").
  18. I'm glad I can release next hot stuff from the past: "Ghastly Night" game made by Bartek Selinger, Pawel Selinger and Andrzej Szczygiel in 1994. More on AtariOnline.pl (screenshots, video, atr file). Enjoy game.
  19. Nice to inform that Nosty and his GR8 Software published a new game "Bomb Jake" (my article about here). Well, it is certainly based on "Bomb Jack" game. However, it works fine with all standard 64KB Atari XL/XE because it's put into Corina cartridge. You can order game on GR8 Software webpage: http://gr8.atari.pl/joomla/index.php?lang=en Nosty asked me to explain you why this edition is more expensive than previous games published by GR8 Software: 1. A new cartridge has more complicated design and more parts = higher price. 2. More extras = higher price. 3. More people involved in production = some of them have been paid.
  20. Thanks, that's cool. Maybe you can post it to Zaxon, I'm going up to see him in a couple of weeks Sounds like mini-party PS. Moreover, we have free copy for Gauntman. Gauntman, do you hear me? Can we send your copy to Zaxon too?
  21. Hi Kaz, I noticed that the English text in the video of the game is your early draft version before the edits were made. Were the edits to the text not included in the end? Game looks great btw Will find out, maybe I run the older version. BTW: one free copy for you, thanks for help with translation!
  22. Short movie about game: http://www.youtube.com/KazVideo#p/u/0/eX20Qqqm5eg
  23. "read the fucking manual" Yea, I know it, but thought is something else Honestly, this is not necessary to read manual to enjoy game. Plug the joystick to Atari, follow screen options and messages and play, that's enough! You'll quickly learn rules about colony management... or you'll die
  24. Hi Snicklin, What does RTFM acronym stand for? Regards, Kaz.
