  1. Thanks for the tip, that was the problem. I fixed up the input mappings and all is good now. Your emulator is just outstanding.
  2. I tried Altirra 2.00 for some 2 player action last night and noticed that the controllers were affecting each other. I had two LE Atari USB sticks running with Windows 7. The controllers were both active and working, but only if used one at a time. During simultaneous play some directions or trigger presses would affect the other player also. I'm still not sure if this is just an issue with the LE sticks and Windows 7. Need to experiment more.
  3. yes, as Thump says they are on atarimania -- all 96 of em! -- just follow this LINK
  4. there's one on ebay, although the price is a little ridiculous. I'm fairly sure that I paid around $20 for mine. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 260512262448
  5. the "woodwork" storage is mine. I didn't make it (I'm a horrible carpenter), instead I bought it at IKEA. Over the years I've bought a few more, and I have 4 now (2 for Atari, 1 for Jaguar, 1 for tools). Not sure if they sell those on the website. I have no idea what they are called -- IKEA's stuff is all named with swedish names that I can never remember.
  6. across the pond (take 520 over lake washington), in the university district there is a fairly good retro used games store called Al's Games. Mostly Nintendo and Sega, but I've seen Atari stuff in there -- 8-bit, 2600, Jaguar, and Lynx. They have rare stuff in a glass case for more $$$. From Bellevue its probably a 10 minute drive.
  7. Hey orpheus, those look like great additions to the collection. I am fairly sure that Thumpnugget would be interested in scanning those and would want to discuss with you further. He will be available again in mid-June, so expect a follow up then.
  8. thanks for the feedback Fox. I will do that next time around.
  9. Hi Sikor, when you add the torrent file to your torrent client you will be presented with a list of all the files in the torrent. At that point you can pick and choose exactly which files you want to download. No need to download the whole torrent again. Also (and this part is just my opinion) multipart torrents seem to not seed well for the long term. Basically I think most people prefer to find everything all in one place, and this becomes more true as time passes (for example if this torrent is still alive a year from now).
  10. I'm learning new stuff every minute around here. Thanks for your timely help Al.
  11. I've given you permission to edit that post. ..Al Thanks Al, you are the man. Now if you could just change the thread title to 96 instead of 95, all would be right again in the universe.
  12. I know how you missed it, its because you didn't -- I did. I have no idea how I did it (just lucky I guess ) -- when copying the pdfs off the dvd I missed that one. I cross checked the count against the tombstones and came up with the same number and never looked back. Sorry for the confusion, new torrent coming ASAP. *** EDIT *** OK, for those atarians who must have it all and have it now... I give you you a new torrent HERE This is a superset of all previous Atari book torrents with not 57, not 95, but whoa momma! -- a whopping 96 books. Again, I will be seeding this at full tilt for as long as I can. I wish I could edit the torrent link in the OP, but can't figure out how.
  13. Not to further quibble but "Best of Softsite Atari Edition" is in the list. I just counted the files from the original torrent and from the DVD you sent. I also counted the "tombstone" cover images. Both add up to 95 books. Looking forward to next time around. I think I might have another contribution or two also.
  14. YES! we are already at 70% seeded (started at 60%) after only about an hour. At that rate we should be complete in only a few more hours.
  15. new torrent is up and new thread created!
  16. This continues Thumpnugget's current labor of love to scan all Atari books in existence (not including manuals). Thanks to everyone who donated books and helped out -- especially Thump himself for the tireless top quality scanning! There is 39 additional books included in this torrent, and with the original 57, comes to a total of *** 96 books *** or 5.4GB. If you don't want to re-download, you can just use your bit torrent client when adding the torrent to select files you are missing. Also the file names have not changed so you could also just download over the top of the old torrent folder. I will try to seed with 100% up time at full tilt for as long as I can. Hopefully we can get many other seeders soon. Here is the torrent you are looking for. 17. You can count on it. I will create the new torrent since ol' Thump is going to be away for a while and won't be able to seed properly. I'm planning to create a new thread, but will post in this one as well to let everyone know. Should be any day now.
  18. Thank you phaeron for your hard work! You just made my day with this outstanding emulator.
  19. It's a book of assembly language routines with hardware/interface/data structure descriptions and source code. Numeric IO & arithmetic, String IO, CIO, Disk IO, Boot sector, cartridge loader, eprom burner, add custom device, bootable tape code, tape to disk copier, interfacing the Atari with other machines, 300 baud data xfer via joystick ports, printer IO. For a few projects it includes circuit board layout and wiring diagrams.
  20. oops, didn't notice that Allan had already offered up this one. I'll go back and see if I have anything else "un-coughed". **EDIT** ok, I think I've found a few others. Thump, let me know if you want 'em.
  21. I would donate my copy of this book to be scanned. I used to pour over this as a kid. Has a great map of Adventure included too.
  22. Well, maybe its not $1, but $18 seems fairly inexpensive to me. I purchased this adapter: http://www.usbgear.com/USBG-232.html and use these drivers: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm Works great on a Macbook and also my MSI Wind netbook.
  23. After watching my boys (ages 8-10, yeah twins) enjoy Atari for a few weeks now, I am more confident than ever that the old games are the best (yep, I always knew I was right). My boys just love this stuff (maybe Atari is hereditary?) Now instead of playing Pokemon, they are asking for me to show them another Atari game. A few nights ago it was Picnic Paranoia. When that dude was zipping around swatting ants they laughed to tears. Same with Preppie. When that "walking through the park" music started and the little guy appeared with the Izod shirt they just about fell off the couch. These games are pure gold -- even for future generations.
  24. Is there a way to use two different windows gamepads and configure them to map to ports 1 and 2 respectively? Or do I need to use XPadder?
  25. In the past I've hid my real Atari hardware in my office in a deep, dark corner and crouched over a small 1702 composite display. Last weekend I decided to bring my Atari out in the open and have had great success using an emulator. In the living room, I connected my netbook to my big Visio LCD and running both Atari800Win & Altirra (looks fantastic) and routed Audio through an amp. Bought a 36 foot USB cable and ran it around the room under the edge of the carpet to a USB hub hidden under the couch. Connected 4 USB Legacy Engineering sticks (Thanks Curt!) to the hub, as well as small wireless keyboard & mouse. Game emulation and controller response is spot-on. My three boys and I have been having a blast running multiplayer stuff... MULE, Claim Jumper, Basketball, Archon, & Dandy. Star Raiders on 37" with audio up real loud is a treat too! Ever since I set this up the Wii has been forgotten at my house!
