Ebay resellers...what is your opinion?
zeitshabba replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Auction Central
As a reseller and a member of these boards, I will admit that: I run the not-so-famous Broken-Ataris-for-porno-mags exchange program I offer side deals at $1 more than they list it for, then offer $5 more under another handle, repeat as necessary. Most of my Atari systems are made of graham crackers I pay neighborhood children in porno mags to steal Ataris and beer from their parents I rob garage sales and Salvation Army stores to keep my stock up I intentionally misrepresent everything I sell to make chickenshit sound like chickensoup I also run the famous Beers-for-Ataris exchange program Somehow, it is all self-sustaining at a point. Bizarre. Now that its all out there, I feel much better now. </complete bullshit> -
I have a bunch of boxed games up right now, with more on the way (the better ones are up now). Most of them came with all the original inserts, but a few of these were completely complete. First, Popeye with an old-school rub-off contest insert... Next, Activision's Decathalon with a Bruce Jenner Signature game glove mail-away offer Also please notice the bilingual Q*Bert with 2 manuals and bilingual Oink! with 2 manuals. Feel free to bid on other games, of course, and know I charge no shipping for 3 games or more... and usually discount the whole lot if you buy 4 or more. Be sure to let me know if you win & are an AA member for even more discounts. Thanks for looking and stuff. Enjoy your weekend.

I was hoping for more, but cannot complain at all for what it closed at. I value my protos & lab loaners much more than this, even though I probably wouldn't get that much out of them. I'll not reveal the buyer, as I do not believe they are active here. Know that they are not new to buying unique items like this game (or other types of games mentioned in this post....)

Keeping an eBay store open is not something I see as profitable for any honest Atari reseller. I know it would be a glorious disaster for what I do, with the exception of reducing the idiotic messages I receive for BiNs and side deals. Blech. Personally, I never wanted to be a reseller, but now have created a monster I cannot detach myself from. I was a collector with no space who sold his collection, missed the collection, and rebuilt collection. Lather, rinse & repeat for a couple years. When I began working on the cartidge bastardization project (no updates besides the recent acquisition of a milling machine) I realized I couldn't outright afford to buy all the games I needed. My reseller business was born. You guys - with the exception of the random rare game & other random bits - are not my target market whatsoever. If anything, I'm thinking of offering the li'l collector sets, boxed games and games w/ manuals on here instead of feeBay. I just don't know what to ask for collectable items... The only people who should be pissed at snipers are the sellers - if you get sniped & don't win an auction, then you simply didn't want it bad enough. Period. Unless you are a whiny cheap bastard, there is no excuse to hate on snipers or not bid the max you are willing to pay. For those who wish every reseller away to purgatory, I find your "purity" schtick entertaining. Simply because we find items at ridiculously low costs doesn't mean we're evil. Sometimes we're just nearby. PS. Good showing lemoncurry.

Okay... I'm not only clueless as to why the shipping isn't free international - it should be - and I cannot change the listing. I hate updates, but I have little choice it appears. International shipping will be free. Shawn Sr., as I mentioned earlier, I'd rather not attempt to clean the label in fear of making it worse. I learned from the Atlantis II episode.

And.... go! Xante's Cosmic Ark is now up for auction. I damn near kept this one, too... but my Pac Man lab loaner just showed up, and my collection limit is 5 games. So out with the Xante. Good luck and thank you to any bidders.
-
Damn... While I trust your suggestion 110%, I do not have the same in my ability to execute it properly. I thought about a nice, healthy bath in some MEK, but the fumes distracted me with wobbly giggles. Hopefully the next owner knows enough of what you speak to do it themselves. I've been forced by the wife to watch enough Antiques Roadshow to not wanna be the guy who tries to restore something & trashes the value.

I never thought I would end up owning one, but I do as of Thursday, for a limited time only. Next stop... eBay.
-
Hahahaha... cool. That's what I was hoping. Doesn't that go ... no, wait. ...um... something like that. Oh, and those two weighty Atari-made 70s spinnable finger sandwich serving platters close soon.

Odd is probably the most muted adjective regularly assigned to me. I can't say I haven't enjoyed your mirthmaking as well, but why the hassle? I've had as many issues with AAers as I've had pleasant exchanges. Surely you can understand why I call BS on your accusation. If I have acted in that manner and you provide links, I'll apologize gladly and help with your Atari collection from my perfect label stash of ~1500. I haven't been here that long, or posted too many times, so if I have, it shouldn't be too hard to find. If not, I have a hard time understanding the backhanded compliments and taunts.
-
The Xante Cosmic Ark has landed... I'll let everyone know when it goes up for auction, which should be next week.
-
And I thought your first response was funny... This one definitely tops it. Please to provide proof... Links? Examples? And one more day left in the heavy Atari spinny Indy thingy auction.
-
I read your adventures after realizing I was only searching a subfolder of the forums... I'll just say one person in that thread stands out as having ingested too much lead paint as a child. As for the suggestion to contact a certain someone... I might just do that before eBaying it. He already got one of my protos, but I never heard back to hear he was pleased. Perhaps he's heading cross-country to return it to me in a creative (and painful) manner...

Until you click the link, you don't realize I'm talking about myself. The link is clicked. The auction viewed. The post succeeds. If I don't do it in the third person, the whole post fails. Nothing works like obsessive dissection of the construct of self-deprecating humor to suck the funny out. ...sigh... For the humor-impaired: I'm selling heavy sixer paddles - bid to win.
-
Then it is to you I apologize, Pant Load. I thought blastermaster was the #2 bidder, as they posted this within 2 minutes of the auction closing. When I find an ultra-rare game hidden in a lot, I studiously scour the Atari forums for anyone linking the auction, so I know what kind of competition I should expect...
-
Set of "Heavy Sixer" driving paddles up on eBay. I heard the seller is an inexcusable f*ckwit. I bet the ass-hat didn't even know he had these until he went through a box of forgotten hardware.

That is something I haven't been able to discern - how many Xante games are known out there? Being an R10, I haven't seen any Xante registries or examples of Xante games for sale/trade within AA or eBay. I could have missed something in my searches, but can anyone give any rough ideas? Does anyone have a "complete" Xante collection?
-
Thanks Rom Hunter! (and, again, apologies to blastermaster) I'd be happy to provide any & all information, but I don't have a scanner. I can photograph the hell outta the cart, if that helps... perhaps, in three weeks when the next owner receives it, they may have a scanner & be willing to help. I still owe some dumps on the Head On & Maze Craze protos I have... I no longer have the Championship Soccer proto, and I refuse to mention whose collection grew one proto bigger... I utterly refuse to...

I had the same quizzical WTF look on my face for awhile when I first found this lot. Initially, I thought it might be a prototype, but I couldn't find any Imagic proto examples to work from. So I started to research blue Atari cartridge and realized it is a Xante game - let alone one not yet listed in either AtariAge or AtariMania! (note: as of a day or two ago, Xante Cosmic Ark was not listed on AtariMania. It is now... I was the 8th viewer of the listing) I couldn't find any other examples of Xante games being sold recently, or traded on here. I didn't want to ask about it until I had the game in hand, since I've had issues in the past with AA readers contacting sellers & screwing with my transactions. As for the value, we'll find out soon enough! It'll be doing a 180 & going right back up on eBay once I receive it & confirm it as working. PS. blastermaster, I was hoping you were just another putz collector who didn't realize the value of the game, like the rest of the bidders - and I was wrong, as it was at $26 when I bid (with a few seconds left). FYI, the closing price was roughly 50% of my max bid, in case you were worried about putting up another $50 or $100 and hoping to snake it away.

Holey Moley, A-Team, Quadrun & Crazy Climber protos
zeitshabba replied to zeitshabba's topic in Auction Central
You can come up for air now...this might take a few days..weeks...months... I wasn't sure if anyone here has dealt with him before to vouch for his credibility. These aren't anything I'd want... -
The seller claims to be well-known... wouldn't be shocked if it was someone here. 4 chip Buy-It-Now I'm sure they'll be gone in 3... ...2... ...1...

The biggest difference label-wise I see is the presence of a black border around the laser explosion. This does not exist on the night label type used for Atlantis II. I'd rather have an "original owner-decorated" label on a real AII than a pretty (albeit incorrect) label on a faked AII.
-
If you can't figure out which ones they are, you are not worthy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260120151967 Hell, I would have bid on that. I should start checking lots more carefully but who has time for that. Earlier this year, my job changed when a client requested me full-time. Unfortunately, now I have nearly half of my day waiting for people, but at least I can walk to work now! While I wait, I search *thousands* of Atari auctions for poorly-advertised gems such as these. And CPUWIZ, how did you know without you beating me on the auction? (I can't believe I manually beat a sniper program! woohoo!) Now, to the pics... pre-release Frankensteins Monster Then the Atari three... these are heavy li'l suckas. and and Now if someone can tell me how to do a dump of the data, I'd be more than happy to provide that as well. Thanks again to all who responded for their help.

So I just pulled a few prototypes out of an auction lot, and was curious to how the value is determined. Would the prototype of one of the early common games be worth more than one from a newer, hard-to-find game due to their age? The three Atari protos I have are all dated to early 1980, and include Maze Craze, Championship Soccer and "Head On", which appears to be the pre-release name for Dodge 'Em. I also pulled a Data Age cart with a bright orange label that says "New Release" and dated in '83. It turns out to be Frankenstein's Monster, complete with prerelease instructions. Would this be considered a prototype, or just a very unique cart? Have these been seen before? With instructions? Thank you in advance.
