  1. I'll be adding things on an almost-weekly basis at this point. Just thinning down the collection to pay for medical bills, unfortunately. Keep an eye out if you're in the market for Jaguar stuff. I have mostly games at this point, but I have a few collectibles as well, which I'll put up eventually.

  2. Thanks to both of you :)

I'll have more stuff popping up soon... possibly a rental case if I decide to sell it :_(

And one more apology about the stupid link that was there before. I clicked it after I saw the replies and was like wtf?! I'll be sure and double-check my links from now on. I've been around the Jaguar & forums for years now and I'd never screw people over by providing some phishing link or whatever. I don't even know what it was?! :ponder:

Anyway, on to your regular-scheduled program :-D

  3. Publisher? eBay Partner? Redirect? And to some screwy log-in? Huh? No thanks.

Page took too long to load anyway. Given todays internet speeds, the price you pay for said speed, state of the art computers/processors, et al, pretty much expect pages to load almost instantaneously. When they don't - forget about it, next!

Why not provide a simple eBay seller link??

Oh, wait... is this one of those silly "partnerships", where sumguy sends the thing you bought to sumotherdipshit in sumhillbillystate who opens your box, only to be repackaged using a smaller and weaker box with no insulation or packing material and then finally gets forwarded to its original destination ala Pitney Bowes?

Is this one of those deals?! :rolling:

Very weird, I'm 100% certain I simply pasted a link to my seller page using the AA link thingy... worked just fine on other forums.

    Oh well, fixed.

  4. Will do. Now I just have to find the perfect spot for this :) thanks

    Congratulations!

I've actually played a few games on that very kiosk. Very fun experience and definitely one of those collector's items that almost no one can get!

  5. I know Atari console obsessed fans sometimes tend to see things where others do not BUT I never even owned a Jaguar but when I saw this new Robotic Vacuum from NEATO Robotics I instantly thought JAGUAR........

Reminded of a certain Atari Console CLICK HERE

You know what makes that even more interesting?

... kskunk, half of the team that brought us all the Skunkboards, is on the team that designed the XV-11 from Neato :)

Whether or not the Jaguar's design actually had any sort of influence on the XV-11's design, I don't know, but it's quite the coincidence ;)

  6. Rare poster here...but highly supportive: this is an amazing product from Oz (device #10)...I'll let the pic speak for itself other than to say this is the best handmade vg hack I've bought, far superior to what I cobbled together after 15 years of tinkering.

Cheers, thank you mate! This is a wonderful device and everyone who feels even mildly about the Jag should buy a few to play on one of the best games ever...before they're gone.

Cat and motion-blur probably not included (but intended!). T2K scores through the roof!

    Get. It. :)

You can control your cat with it, too?!

Danny, I can't believe you never mentioned the ability to control animals! ;)

Anyway, I have one of these rotaries as well and it works great.

  7. The option to use the skunk's anti-piracy features are optional.

It doesn't have to be used...

I don't see what the big deal is here.

Or are people just trying to find faults with the SB3 in order to nullify its existence?

My posts have more to do with "the times they are a-changin" then anything else. It isn't a big deal to me, it's a simple discussion about the Skunk's use for future Jag projects. If I had such a problem with its existence, I wouldn't have just put one on pre-order.

Good point. I didn't necessarily mean that last sentence was about you, though it was directed a little at you. I'll move on.

It just seems most of your latest posts in this thread had a "circle-jerk" feeling to them with regards to the reboot & jagware developers.

Nice to hear you pre-ordered a skunk 3 as well. I'm also interested in seeing the other flash device come to fruitition. It will be nice having more options out there.

  8. In reality, the Jagware and Reboot teams have hit the future (and the now) of Jag homebrew releases. Release games for free for those who are more interested in just playing the games while still making carts and/or CDs for the collectors.

What is this, Jagware/Reboot propaganda hour?

Hey, it's great to see vimaster came back to AA to participate and really add to the conversation so eloquently.

Well, at least it gives Kizza someone to +1 for a change...

How about you save your snidey shit for JS2, Mr. Master? Leave the big boys to talk sensibly in the proper forum.

Blow me kza. What makes you think I have any allegiance to Laird? Cause I don't.

Know what you're talking about before you come mouthing off to me.

  9. What is this, Jagware/Reboot propaganda hour?

Do you actually have anything intelligent to add to this discussion, or are you just here to troll?

I have already added to the conversation in the last page or two. Go back and read.

    Speaking of troll... *cough*

  10. "Digital distribution" is not the same as "freeware downloads". There were games available for download before Jagware and Reboot came along. When people talk about the potential of the Skunkboard for future distribution methods, they are talking about commercial titles using the hardware to reduce piracy.

The difference only lies in how people are defining "digital distribution". Yes, I know there were downloads well before Jagware or Reboot, but they've put together what can be considered commercial quality games that at the very least rival those sold commercially by other homebrew developers. The only difference between what they do and what you're defining is that they don't charge money for downloading their games.

The option to use the skunk's anti-piracy features are optional.

It doesn't have to be used...

I don't see what the big deal is here.

  12. If you want to make an assumption of what won't work, assume everything released won't work, and then if it magically does for you:

    1) We're not encouraging it or happy that you chose to use your SkunkBoard in that way.

    2) You got lucky with that choice.

Can you define 'released'? I'm not trying to be argumentative here, just to understand how it works - I'm currently confused as one unreleased beta of a released game (Ultra Vortek) worked, while another unreleased beta of a released game (Fight For Life) didn't.

I haven't seen any of the promotional material for the Skunkboard beyond knowing it existed, but I'm sure I can't be alone in making the assumption that any form of programmable cartridge is just that, some rewritable memory in cartspace. As the Skunkboard is a programmable cartridge that accepts an upload of valid cart data, then inspects it and decides (based on a hidden list) whether or not to allow it to execute, for me it violated the principle of least surprise. That's my only point - please don't take it as a personal attack (I think I've spent enough money in the GOAT store to prove I'm not an 'orrible pirate! :))

Out of curiosity, what will you do if a new game is developed and released for/on a Skunkboard, but then people share the binary without paying? Unless you have a way to individually update the revocation list of one specific cart based on what that user's paid for I can't think of an obvious way to allow legitimate users to play without allowing the same right to pirates...

Like I said, it doesn't affect me as I have a 4MB Alpine and a flashcart anyway, but I seriously considered buying a Skunkboard for the convenience of USB uploads, and if I hadn't known about this feature in advance I would have been very disappointed when I found out.

    Stone

Tursi pretty much answered your questions in his last post. Have a look there.

To answer your question about releasing a new game for the skunkboard, each skunk is serialized, so you can lock your game out to only that serial. That's how people wouldn't be able to pass it around without paying :)

  13. Actually, a really good point you made there, Starcat.

In previous runs of the Skunkboard, that was also one of the selling points and it should be reiterated with this generation.

The Skunkboard is a great way for game distribution. As starcat mentioned, there are ways to use copy protection and it's certainly a cheaper way to get your games out instead of going with a full-on cartridge. You could also distribute both ways -- cart for those who like having physical property and a rom serialized to your skunk for those who just want to play.

I absolutely love my skunks (have rev 1 & 2) and they've been extremely helpful with development ;)

    I'll be ordering a skunk 3.

  14. I will be attending the Classic Gaming Expo in Vegas at the end of the month and can certainly meet up with anyone who is interested and will be there. Otherwise, please respond on this forum or e-mail me at tscott at magiqueproductions dot com.

I'm not a music guy or anything -- more art-like, but unfortunately my "talents" (if you want to call them that haha) are being used towards other Jaguar projects.

It sounds like you have things well on their way, though, since you already have your artist and the music person.

I look forward to seeing what you're able to do and will follow the project on your FB page.

As you will be attending CGE, I'll make it a point to find you there. Oddly enough, I'll be staying in Henderson for a little vacation time, which is interesting since it appears that is where you live!

  15. Thank you. That answers my question. It would have been a lot easier to do that in the first place.

We have done our homework on this. We don't feel the need to address every single thing publicly, because we have already done so in private.

    Things are under control.

  16. Wow - thanks for all the great info guys! I'm going to check out that Native Spirit in a little bit :-)

Well, just checked it out and looks like it needs to be "assembled" using a PeeCee. Is there a .rom, .bin or .jag file for this demo floating around?

Nothing that's supposed to be distributed. The person doing Native Spirit would prefer only the source get distributed, which can then be compiled.
