  1. Not actually true. Anything priced is an 'offer' for you to buy something and it isn't until you pay for the games that the price is set. However, it is good customer service to do so, which is why a lot of places do it. Otherwise anyone could go anywhere and just swap price stickers around. More often then not when I was working for EB / Game things would be over-priced and when you went to the till it would be cheaper, which was more common than the other way around. Got myself some good bargains like that.
  2. The first run of Ridge Racer 4 came in this type of case (with demo) and probably some others. Later on they started using the GT2 style cases with the other disc on the top half of the jewel case.
  3. G&W Turtle Bridge (boxed good condition) DC AV cable (new) X-Box AV / S-Video cable / Mem Card (new) Jag Troy Aikman Footbal (sealed and new) Load of Speccy tapes DC keyboards (new) After DC games, PM me
  4. The amount of time it took me to get an A licence on the second! Damn!
  5. Most games will recognise that your Card is fecked and will format it for you. Otherwise phone the Sony Hardware Helpline which is in the back of all games. You can get a Dex Drive for PS2, lik-sang have them, but you can't get multi-format PS2 cards, so you have no need to worry about that.
  6. Weren't there some games that LANed through the broadband adaptor? And how about connecting up the system link? Can't you use the PC->DC link through something like this?
  7. DeV0 is getting me a PAL copy of Animal Crossing pretty soon. I can't wait as I've only just got my Cube. Tony Hawks seems to be the one that has me hooked, mainly just because you can just piss-ass about on it for hours. Games that take 'completing' bore me, that's why I really got in to 2D fighters. I have less of an attention span now than when I was a bit younger.
  8. So, are there actually any people on there? And do you need to connect to someones server? Sorry, I'm a bit dumb when it comes to networking and broadband etc... I just want to be able to plug-in and see people ready to play, not having to piss about with putting in IP addresses and shit and finding out when people are available. Oh, and is there something similare for the DC?
  9. Hmm.. they're pretty... coooool? The DC reminds me of this.
  10. Yep. Also, if you save in 60Hz mode you can only use the save on a 60Hz TV, which is awful. You don't have to have your Shemnue I save for II, but it is pretty cool. You can also download a new completed Shenmue I save which would be pretty maxed out.
  11. Thought the controls were a lot better than Golden Eye. Liked the game a lot, especially the first level. Get a mate round and play co-op mode and then see if you still hate it!
  12. It's also the same as the Gamecube one, so you'll be able to pick one up at a current retailer like EB.
  13. Nearly all modern consoles are sold at a loss, this allows the company (MS, Sony or Ninty etc) to get as many installed units as possible (consoles in the homes). The money in the industry is made through the games themselves (with the exception of the 3DO, which was a licensed machine, but I'm digressing). Basically, your average gamer will buy around 4-15 games in the lifespan of a console at around £40 ($90-100 US), so you're looking at around double the price of the console minimum. Although production is very costly on games, to actually make them isn't. So the money you pay on a game goes almost exclusively profit. Very few games make a loss. In fact the videogames industry makes more money than Hollywood every year because production cost are much more balanced with the return. Only 1 out of 5 movies with actually do more than break-even.
  14. I know I really shouldn't get in to this... but.... Working for GAME (EB for the UK), I see that that the Cube has had a bit of a turn around of late, mainly due to Mario Kart, but don't be so quick to dismiss the console, yet. Last Friday (MK:DD release day) I sold about 5 Cubes to every PS2 and now it seems to have stabalised and were selling slightly less of them than PS2, but more than X-Box. People seem to think that there isn't room for 3 consoles right now, but you need to remeber that we haven't ever had a market as competetive as right now. PS2 maybe the market leader right now, but it's oldest and most expensive console, the X-Box appeals mainly to the PC Geek / FPS fan / or Microsoft lover (leaving everyone else alienated, where are the RPGs and Platformers?) whereas the Cube has the appeal to the female / child group (sorry to generalise) and the hardcore (most of the games that would have probably only seen light of day on a Sega machine i.e. Ikargua, Viewtiful Joe, Monkey Ball etc etc are now on the GC). Also some more notes to think about; Final Fantasy exculsive, Resident Evil exclusive, Pokemon exclusive, the GC breaks even on each sell (X-Box doesn't), price drop to make it by far the cheapest console and the strength of the GBA... Oh and one more point; just remeber that the PSX pissed all over the N64 in terms of sells, but Ninty still did okay out of it themselves simple due to the fact that they will not sell hardware at a discounted rate just to boost sells, this means all they do is make profit affording to keep themselves in the makret. I knew I shouldn't have gotten in to...
  15. I got it, but can't play it because the TV I have here doesn't support 60 Hz. I'd trade it for Animal Crossing...
  16. It's wicked. Pisses all of the 64 version. Got it yesterday and all the boys here at Uni been playing and love it (we've been playing the 64 version for month and a half now). The co-op mode is inavative, it's just that much more strategic than the 64 version with the two characters in one kart, also winning feels a lot less random; if you're good then you build up a lead. I think a lot of people want to slate the Cube right now. Just don't believe the hype...
  17. Metal Slug 3? But I guess the US will get a release of that, the UK won't even get a look. Although we have just gotten X a few months back. Guitar Freaks, Taiko no Tatsujin, SVC Choas and R-Type Final (unless you can wait, as that is slated for release in the west).
  18. Got mine yesterday with Zelda special edition disc, Mario Kart: Double Dash and Resident Evil. Also picked up Timesplitters 2 and THPS4 today. Ikargua, Viewtiful Joe and Konga Bonga (when it comes out) are all on my wanted listed. Want Animal Crossing but it didn't get a UK release. Any Australians get me one cheapily (should probably get in contact with DeVo....)?
  19. Out of interest, where did you get that POD from? I was offered one from work a year back but didn't have room for it...
  20. Get the offical Sega Arcade sticks, they would withstand a nuclear blast. And, they're nice and clicky. They also did some limited edition SNK and Capcom pads for CVS in Japan, supposed to be great... if you can get your hands on them. They had little information cards on different fighters and stuff. I think they were by ASCII, but could be wrong. You could also hook up one of those X-Cade sticks.
  21. Just to get a complete PAL DC collection. I have all the major rarities now (REZ, Samba de Amigo etc etc) except a few, which can be found on eBay cheapily. I'm 50% there (100+) but it's just painful to fork out money for crappy sports titles. And, a complete 2600 Parker Bros., missing about 4...
  22. Atari Aniversary Edition for DC is great if just for the extras and mention of AtariAge.
  23. I assume this is going to be AES / MVS only release so look for a $350-250 price tag on them. X and 3 are on the PSX and PS2 (respectively).
  24. The colour registers on PAL and NTSC 2600s are different, so if you put a NTSC game in to a PAL machine then you'll find shifted colours and visa versa. It could just have been that the PAL version does have Green grass, but more likely is that it's NTSC.
