  1. There are single chip versions of the Juniors about (although hard to find) which were the very last run of systems that Atari ever did. If you turn over a junior and look at the board, you'll see a sort of cross-hatch for a 3 chip Jr and it'll be smooth for a single chip...
  2. These bad boys have been spoken for by my good friend MunkyXTC....
  3. This morning I acquired several CD-i games, they are NOS (New Old Stock) which means they are all brand spankers which have never been played. I don't really know how much these things are worth, but I bought them cheap. They're seems to be a few interesting titles amongst them, but to me they all seem like junk. Okay, I got: - Battleships - Internationial Tennis Open - Othello - Mystic Midway: Phantom Express - Zombie Dinos From The Planet Zeltoid - Laser Lords - Escape From Cybercity - Alien Gate - Mystic Midway - Video Speedway Someone please take these off my hands as the various shades of purple are reminding me of the early 90's. Oh, nearly forgot (how could I?), that I have Golden Oldies Jukebox *cough* disc aswell. This is more than like being filed under 'B' for bin unless someone wants it (?) I'm looking for trade in the way of 2600, Jaguar, Dreamcast, Mega Drive (Genesis) and Master System. If you are interested then you can email me on [email protected], reply to this thread, IM me here or on Atarinvader.com or talk to me on AIM, Y! or MSN....
  4. Is it one of the enclosed type of carts? It could be that the little flap inside is some how jammed and won't open. I'm no lable variation freak, so I wouldn't be able to say if DigDug did come in a cart like that *shrug* could be though...
  5. Are there any 2600 emulators that run on Mandrake Linux? I tried running some in Redmond through WINe but they just crashed (like everything you run through it)....
  6. Hello? . . . Oh, not me, sorry. . . . Sounds like a good idea dude, although you're selling out and watering down your product for the masses (which I'll let slide ). Do you have a ROM image we could play?
  7. Well, with any text there are 3 ways of reading it; The prefered, the popular and the alternative, which you have identified. The prefered meaning is how the the aurthor intends for the text to be interperated in this case that a form of morailty will prevail. The popular reading is how the majority will read the text, in this game it would be indeed that it is sick that you should be trying to rape people. And of course the alternative reading which goes against what the text is actualy about, could be that it was intended to get people off. What you need to do is try to make both the prefered meaning and the popular reading to be the same, the easiest way to do this would be to anchor the meaning, like a caption does on a photo. This is why I suggest a quote from the book between levels. I don't know if that would be tricky to do or not...
  8. That's not really what I ment. You could do it either of two ways, firstly that you play as Alex's concious, trying to stop him commiting the acts of rape, I don't know exactly how this would work, some how fighting against some AI system? or maybe just trying to aviod bumping into a the women Pac-Man style? Second way of doing it would be that you make Alex commit the rapes until he doesn't want to any more, which would follow the story of the book closer, but wouldn't be as moraly acceptable.
  9. If you were just intending to make the game about rape to be contraversial then drop the idea like a hot potatoe, but then again you can't make a game based on Clockwork Orange without it being contraversial in some way. I think the X-Man hack could work very well if you do it right.
  10. Couldn't you make it so as you are still controlling him, but you are trying to STOP him raping the women, until at the end of it all he doesn't want to rape them any more? The whole point of the book (I haven't seen the film yet) was that no matter how much you inflict an ideology upon someone, they will make decisions on there own behalf until eventually they have there own sets of morals, which will inevitably be positive. So even if the game was about him raping these women, if at the end of each level Alex just walks off with out wanting to hurt anymore then that would be acceptable. Remeber that narrative demands a positive moral outcome for the audience to draw any pleasure for it. Indepence Day wouldn't have worked if Will Smith got killed and the aliens took over the world, that would make a crap film. You'd probably need to anchor that somehow in the manual and/or game with a quote. That would then make it moraly acceptable.
  11. Just make sure there are some real horrorshow groodies and lashings of red red krovy! As long as you don't lose site of what the book/film was saying then the game shouldn't offend people, or rather I should say 'intelligent' people. Just don't go down the same route as Custers Revenge, or Texas Chainsaw Massacare to a lesser extent. IMHO the game must have a positive moral outcome, otherwise it won't work.
  12. Boy am I gonna make Joe a star! Can we have some high resolution images to work with please?
  13. Yes it does just hang with the 'throbber' animating. I do open the index in a new window to check, but it becomes very irritating, especialy when submiting as much off-topic junk as I do I'm running Redmond Linux and one of the earlier versions of Mozilla (not rc3), I know it can't be network problems, such as timeouts, because it works fine in Windows and on the rest of the site when in Linux. I'm upgrading to Mandrake 8.2 and KDE 3 soon, so I'll let you know how that goes and if I still have the same problems...
  14. When I'm in Linux and running Mozilla I have problems posting on the forums. It seems that Mozilla will post but not actualy forward the page so as I know that it has actualy posted. Anyone else having similare problems?
  15. I was think about maybe a little UK gathering in the future. That's if there's enough interest? I'm sure we could hire out a hall in a hotel or something fairly cheaply, right?
  16. PAL is the better TV system I guess all the 2800 games were SECAM? How compatable is that with NTSC and PAL? Are the colour registers different again? Am I right in thinking that all the processing of game data for the 2600 was processed during the 'fly back' between syncs and during these extra lines? Nothing is calculated while the screen is being outputted, right?
  17. I don't think there'd be a problem electronicaly, just physicaly. The Sega CD 1 fits under the Genesis 1 and the Sega CD 2 fits underneath and to the side of the Genesis 2. They're basicaly the same machine, but molded to fit the specific console. Both the Genesis 1+2 (did you guys get a 3rd machine BTW?) have those funny edge connectors underneath them which basicaly hooks up the two machines, I guess they're the same pins on each model...
  18. There were PAL and NTSC specific machines, because of the way in which PAL and NTSC deal with colour. I think there may have even been a PAL TIA chip, but I know the boards are definetly different. But like Thomas said the 2600 controlled the sync via software, so a 50Hz game will play at 50Hz on any 2600 console. That's all dependent on how the games were programmed to sync I guess. Thomas would know more about that than me. However, all the colours should be wrong when playing a game on the wrong TV system console. All my NTSC games have the wrong colour. I guess this is because there's different colour registers in a PAL 2600 to an NTSC one (?)
  19. On the emu it's BMX-Airmasters and on the 6er or Jr. it's gotta be Jr. Pac-Man, but only because my copy of BMX Airmasters is NTSC!
  20. I don't think the games play faster or slower, do they? I'm no programmer, so I don't know much about how the TIA handles signals etc. The reason why the picture is bigger, however, I can help you on. A UK TV will take a 50Hz signal meaning that the there will be 50 vertical scans per second, however if you feed a 60Hz signal in to the TV it will adjust its vertical time base to 60 refreshs a second, but not the speed at which it scans, which means a 60Hz signal into a 50Hz TV will result in a smaller picture.
  21. I think it's a good idea, but technicaly it would be very difficult to generate direct links to a users eBay profile page. That's because an American or English user can't viewer a German or French eBay users profile through their home countries site. So if you did want to generate a direct link you'd need to know the users nationality and the structure of that eBays profile URL. Does that make sense? I think I've confused myself now.... Or were you not intending to use direct links to the profile page?
  22. Linux - Chess DC - Shenmue Just got Shenmue II which means I've got to complete the orginal again because I deleted my save *sigh* Everything else (MD, SMS, Game.com, Jaguar and 2600) has been boxed up and put away and my PC has just been formated.
  23. I've got a spare 2600 case from my portable and an old laptop...hmmmm....where's my screw driver? :D I can't see that they've got any chance on a patent, it's like me putting feet in someone else shoes and then saying that nobody else can do it, it's just silly...
