  1. VMUs work using Flash memory like digital cameras, they shouldn't lose data when the batterys run out. Unoffical VMs may use a different system however...
  2. Whats going on here, huh? You think I can't see whats going on right under my nose? Huh?
  3. Just to let you know that I get this PHP error message at the top of some of your pages: Warning: Address is not in a.b.c.d form in /home/sites/home/web/phphits/phphits.php on line 97
  4. Stans article is now avaliable for your viewing pleasure!
  5. Stans article is being processed as we speak. It should be avaliable within half an hour. And by the way well done Junie, I'm looking for an NTSC system and I may just invest!
  6. More likely to get blood from a stone than info from the Proto Gods...
  7. Uhu, I agree with what people are saying here... I consider myself as a 'Videogames Historian', I have my 2600, Mega Drive, Master System and Jaguar for collecting and my Dreamcast for playing. Sometimes I feel like a right geek for spending more time collecting than playing, almost kinda guilty for studying rarity guides and release lists, but thats just the way it is.
  8. My bad. WD-40 do do an electrical contact spray which is the same as Servisol.
  9. I completed Tekken 2 on the PSX by only ever using the X button.
  10. I expect if you send the shipping both ways to someone on this board they'd repair it for you. I'm more than willing.
  11. My friend is an avid Soul Caliber fan and he gets beat everytime by his little sister who doesn't even look at the screen but just bashs the buttons.
  12. avoid WD40, it'll corode the pot...
  13. The best thing is to replace the pot' which I think is a 1K (but could be 10K, it'll say on it). Failing that I'd get hold of some Servisol (I use it for my crossfader on my mixer) and spray it into the pots case.
  14. I've started using my SMS pad full time. Easily the best control for Pac-Man, Stampede and (is indespensible) for Dragster.
  15. I hate fighting games. When I play them I feel like I have no control of my character, aswell as the fact that skill plays very little part in them. If I had to take one to a dessert island then it would be Fatal Fury for the MD (Genesis). Failing that it would be Tekken 2 for the PSX. In my eyes Soul Caliber is just an exercise in what the DC can do in the graphics department, there's little in the way of gameplay or game variation. Once the gloss has worn away it's simply crap.
  16. Yeah I know what you mean. A few kids had Mario ones when I was at school and I was sooo gealous of them (even though the games were a bit crappy)... I later out did them by getting a watch that had world time, a calculator and a radio built in. They definetly had watch envy then! Anyway back to the point, I haven't been able to track one down myself, although I haven't had a good look because I didn't know what they were called. Anyone got some light to shed?
  17. 347 days and no bathroom Why the hell didn't they make Dreamcast VMUs rechargable? Some of the mini games you could download were excellent, there were versions of Pac-Man, Space Invaders and OutRun which were pretty good. The batterys are far too expensive for them seeing as they last for only a month or so.
  18. Generaly excepted as Air Raid by Men-A-Vision from what I can gather. Only 10 known copies? I think Marco(?) had an interesting story about finding it...?
  19. quote: Originally posted by Allan: Does anybody know some of the reasons why an NES might do this? They nearly always do it and nobody really knows the truth behind blinkers. Try opening it up and cleaning the cart port connectors, then bend the connectors slightly outwards so as they make better connection with the cart. I've heard that it's the best way to deal with them, but I've never done it myself. ClassicGaming.com have a comprehensive guide to this repair.
  20. quote I suppose you refering to the LM7805 regualtor? All that that is is a 'knock down' regualtor with a smoothing capcitor across the input. It will indeed regulate a higher voltage, but I wouldn't recomend it because it's wokring voltage shouldn't be exceeded and it is heat sunk to work at 9V. quote I'm not sure what you mean by this, but as long as you're providing more current than the system needs you'll be okay. quote The system will only draw as much as it needs. If your system draws more than the PSU can handle then the PSU will blow.
  21. In the UK Bangai-O is not too difficult to find, although not common, but Samba De Amigo is neigh on impossible to get hold of as I believe we only had around 1,000 copies made. I spent several months trying to track it down for less than 100 GBP and failed. Its quite a bit more common in the US and Japan. BTW UK DC game cases are so much cooler than American and Japaness versions. I expect games that will be sought after in years to come will be: - Shenmue II - Rez - Records of Lodoss War - Skies or Arcadia - Spiderman - PSO Version 2 - Virtua Tennis 2 - Crazy Taxi 2 - Sonic Adventure 2 - Sonic Shuffle - Capcom Vs. SNK 2 - Sega Smash Pack / Atari Aniversary (which we never got here) - Segagaga (Jap only) Probably worth buying these now if you can, aswell as offical Meracas, coloured VMU / controller and fishing reels.
  22. Why do people not like Playaround and Mystique? I really think that people get the wrong end of the stick *ahem* with these companies. They're not supposed to be erotic, they're supposed to be comical and they are, unlike modern erotica software. And the games are pretty good, especially 'Knight on the Town'. Custer's Revenge is obviously beyond the bounds of decency now, but is a product of its time.
  23. quote: a powerful microprocessing unit (MPU) that would be about 200 times faster than those used now for video games machines and personal computers, it said. *sniff* *sniff* can anyone else smell BS?
