The Official "Thrift finds" Thread

Finally found some SNES games at a thrift. Paid $4.99 each but these are the first SNES carts I have found since buying my SNES console a few weeks back. The SNES carts are Super Mario World Super Tennis (Had this game with my original SNES, pretty good tennis game) Madden NFL '97 (They also had '94, '95 & '96, I decided that then newest one should be the best) Tru Golf Waialae Country Club I also picked up Ballon Fight for the NES for $2.99 I also found what appears to be an Atari "Wico Command Control" joystick its red and black, no model numbers or anything. Anybody know anything about these joysticks? -
Your game condition feelings?

I like my labels to be in near perfect shape unless its a hard to find game. If the game is common as dirt then it must be perfect. Now that is just with the labels. I will buy games that have "rental" stickers and writting on the plastic case as long as the label is fine. I hope to find some "Magic Potion" to be able to clean the cases someday. Anybody have any luck removing permanent marker off the NES cart cases without damaging the cart yet? -
Sorry about that. Guess I shouldn't have linked directly to the list Try this link http://antseezee.sphosting.com/nes/rarityguide.html As for the pop ups, I have a pop up blocker so I didnt realize they were there.

I have always wanted one of those. From what I have read ROB isnt much fun, but I want one any way. As far as rarity, the Digital Press Collectors guide lists ROB as R4/$15 I think you got a good deal if it works, having the box is nice too. I think there are only 2 games for it (Gyromite & Stackup)

Heres someones update of the Etler list, doesn't look to bad to me. http://antseezee.sphosting.com/updatedrare.txt

Hey Mark, I am having that "Invalid session" error message pop up again. I haven't been able to post in your forums for the past few days. I don't know what happened, was working fine there for a while. Anyone here at AtariAge know how to fix this problem, I use AOL as my ISP and I know that is the reason it is happening, but I post here at AtariAge with no problems (both use phpBB) .

I picked up 5 NES games at the local Goodwill today, giving me an even 100 different NES games. Friday the 13th $1.99 Ghosts 'n Goblins $1.99 Rush 'n Attack $1.99 Rygar $1.99 NES Open Golf $2.99 They had abot 25 games some I had others I just didnt want to pay the price they wanted. I don't pay more than $2.99 for loose NES games. Here are some of the games they had Galaga $4.99 Millipede $4.99 Spy vs Spy $4.99 Contra $6.99 Super Mario Bros $6.99 Super Mario Bors. 3 $6.99 Dragon Spirit $6.99 TigerHeli $6.99 Gradius $6.99 Bart vs the Space mutants $6.99 (The label was almost all gone, if I didnt already have the cart I would have never know what game this was) -
I found an Atari 1040st computer for $3.99 just the keyboard part. There is an Atari monitor there too for $12.99 it is a SC1224 I think. Are these good prices for these? Will they work together? I know nothing about Atari computers. They dont have power cords... will any computer power cord work or do they need something special? Is there any way to distinguish an original power cord from any other computer power cord?

Well, I just checked out my "Zinger", turns out it is actually a "Zipper" I don't know if they are the same thing or not, I can't seem to find "Zipper" in the DP Guide now.

I'm no expert but I have both of the controllers you are talking about. my first NES that I ever owned (bought it last year) came with the "super controller" attachments on both controllers. I thought they all came like that for a long time. The Digital Press Collectors guide lists the Super Controller by Bandai as $3/R2 The Zinger by Beeshu is listed as $5/R3 in the DP Guide. I believe this comes in 3 or 4 different colors. The DP Guide says it is Bright Blue/white. Mine is Yellow. My Zinger is the best NES controller I have. I don't think they made a Zinger for the SMS.

score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BIG EARL replied to mark's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That is a GREAT score! I would consider 25 games for $25 a great score for me. I use the Digital Press collector Guide as my "price guide". The Namco Pac-Man is listed as a $15/R7 -

That is a dilemma, trust it to be factory sealed and complete, or open in and make sure. I will leave it sealed This is the first sealed game I have ever found at a thrift. It doesn't come in the traditional plastic SEGA box, this is a cardboard box and at 1st I thought it might be a snes game (which is what I was out looking for) The plastic wrap is clear with no markings. Seems like it might be a cool game, plus the Boris Vallejo cover art make the box a must have. DP Guide gives it an R4/$20 rarity. Here are some scans of the box -

Picked up a SNES Super Scope 6 today, in box for $9.99 (its the only snes game I have found to test the SNES I picked up a couple of days ago) NES games For $2.99 each (cart only) The Karate Kid Chip n Dale Resue Rangers Paperboy Burgertime I also got Star Control for Genesis for $3.99 in a sealed box. -
I just pulled out the DP guide and Freedom Force is a light gun required game. I had never heard of that one, I will be on the look out for it now. The 1st goal I set for myself when I started collecting for the NES was to get all of the "Zapper" games. I have 6 so far.
-
Check out www.vintagegamer.net It is a site devoted to Nintendo. They have a forum set up just like Atari Age and there is a post with the "Zapper" games listed. Here are some games that I can think of off hand Hogans Alley (my 2nd Favorite zapper game) To the Earth Operation Wolf Barker Bill's Trick Shooting Baby Boomer Adventures of Bayou Billy Gotcha! Laser Invasion I am sure there are other that I can't think of right now.

I found 2 tengen NES carts today, Rolling Thunder and Pac-Man (Licensed) for $1.99 each at my local Savers (They also had Super Mario/Duck hunt & Super Mario 3 but I didn't need those). Kinda funny, they still have Atari 2600 carts for $5.99 each (Othelo, Backgammon, Tennis, Sky diver & Combat) -
Duck Hunt is my favorite NES game! It was one of the main reasons I bought my NES last year. I have my high score wrote down somewhere but I can't seem to find it. I think my best was Round 21 High Score: 360,000 I had my NES hooked up to a 13 inch TV so that may have made it easier. I haven't played it on my 19 inch TV yet. Is the Duck Hunt only cart play any different than the Super Mario/Duck Hunt?

Well, I found this interesting NES controler, it is a QuickShot QS-121 Anyone have this and know what games it works good with. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Was $4.99 at the local Goodwill. At the local Savers they has these 2600 games; Othello, Backgammon, Tennis, Combat, Sky Diver and Pac-Man for $5.99! each!!!! I think they must have gotten somebody new to price things. They were charging $2.99 for Atari games. Needless to say I didn't buy any of those games. -
Figured out what to do with those controllers!!!

Unless you pay at least $8.95 for your geocities, they don't allow "remote hosting". You will have to put a link to your site with the pictures. -

Interesting idea. I don't think I would wear one, but an interesting idea all the same. Can't wait to see the pictures. -
Thanks! Those instruction scans are great. I can't believe no one has had them online here before.

I found it listed in the Mike Etler Rarity list (1997) as GHOST LION, by Kemco, Rating: B. The DP guide lists it as LEGEND OF GHOST LION, by Kemco, Rating: R4/$5
