  1. I think I just lost one of the VERY few sources I had for game collecting in my town. The local Savers has raised their prices. They are now selling NES systems for $24.99 (they were $9.99 but they all blinked, maybe this one doesn't blink?) and NES games for $7.99 (they were $2.99), they also had NES controllers for $4.99 and a NES Zapper for $7.99. I was getting them for $1.99 there before. They had atari joysticks for $2.99 each and paddles for $4.99. I will still go in there every now and then but I doubt I will be getting anything from the again.
  2. Here are some lists I have found http://www.gamersgraveyard.com/repository/...s/nesrarity.txt http://www.vintagegamer.net you can do a search on Google for "nes raity list" and you will find all kinds, most are just the Mike Etler list though http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...G=Google+Search
  3. $2.99 is the LOWEST any of the thrifts in my area charge for NES games, if they are in the box they are $6.99. Sega games (SMS or Genesis) are $6.99 since most come with boxes, $4.99 without the box.
  4. thats cool. I was thinking about bidding on that game but I didn't want to go over $5.00. I may have to in the future if I am getting close to my goal. It is my goal to have all of the sears label games. I just picked up Steeplechase last week for $2.99 at Goodwill. That is the rarest game I have every found. Hope you enjoy your recent addition.
  5. Sounds like a pretty good find. Wish some of the thrift stores here would have some Intellivison stuff once in a while.
  6. I noticed that someone registered Nintendoage.com on the day you made this post. I too had checked to see if the name had been registered when I first heard someone was working on a "nintendoage.com" site but didn't mention it on the boards because I knew someone would snatch it up. I just hope who ever did get the name puts together a good site that is at least half as good as Atariage. edit: I guess I missed a few posts, AJ picked up Nintendoage.com. Still no site there yet but maybe there will be in the future.
  7. I just picked up a Sears video Arcade "Heavy Sixer" for $7 at a thrift but it doesn't work. I know that the rf cable and power supply work. Is there anything else that would be simple to fix that could be wrong. I would love to have this working but I know nothing about electronics so I have no idea what is wrong. Also the spring on the "Game Select" switch broke is this easy to fix?
  8. I really hate the original controllers for the intellivision, they just never seem to last very long. I have heard people mention that the Jaguar controller would be great for the INTV but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing it. Is it even possible?
  9. Ok, since my idea was labeled as "extremely poor", can anyone point us to a FREE Genesis Rarity guide? I love Genesis games and I would be glad to see a FREE guide that isn't "extremely poor". I thought I had seen another Rarity Guide online somewhere but I can't find it in my bookmarks.
  10. If you ever find Toe Jam & Earl (not Toe Jam & Earl: Panic on Funkotron) at a thrift BUY it, it sells for $30+ all the time on eBay. Any of the Phantasy Star games are good too. If you are looking for a Sega Genesis rarity guide, Digital Press has one you can download for free in PDF format. just go to www.digitpress.com/index2.htm and clcik on Rarity Lists. If you collect classic video games, the Digital Press collectors guide is well worth the $25 (even though it doesn't have Genesis games in it)
  11. Today I got the Rarest 2600 game I have ever found, Steeplechase for $2.99. This is only about the 3rd time in the year I have been collecting that I have ever found ANY atari games at a thrift in my area. I also found an atari 2600 power supply and a Jaguar power supply for $0.99 each. At another store I got 2 TurboGrafix-16 games, World Class Baseball and TV Sports Football for $2.99 each
  12. That site is looking good so far VintageGamer, I can't wait to see it when the NES section is finished. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.
  13. I dont know how trust worthy this site is but here is where I find most of my power supply alternatives and they seem to work fine. http://users.erols.com/tiltonj/games/tech/power.html The Odyssey2 power supply is Output: 11.5 VAC 400mA Input: 115 VAC 60Hz 12W
  14. If you go to a place like Radio Shack, just tell them what you want the power supply for and they will most likely show you the correct one. Just take these numbers with you: Output 9v 1.3A I would suggest you check out your local thrift stores such as Goodwill, Salvation Army, Savers/Value Village first, they may have some original NES power Supplies laying around for a Fraction of the cost. If you check the thrift stores, look for a plug that says "Nintendo AC Adapter Model No. NES-002" Hope this info helps
  15. Here is a picture of the Gamecube RF set, if you were to buy this you would just not use the black piece. The game cube RF switch can be bought at places like Wal-Mart, Target, Circuit City and maybe even Radio Shack. I think the best places to try first would be Thrift stores though. Sega RF switches work too Hope this info helps
  16. If you know what the NES RF cable looks like, then go to any place that sells GameCube stuff and get the gamecube one, it is the same for $15, thats what I did. Since then I have bought about 5 of them for $1 each at thrift stores.
  17. RC Pro Am II= R5 $7, Jungle Book= R6 $20 Found an Atari 2600 Jr Rev. A for $7.99 today at my local Savers. It came with 1 Joystick, switch box & power supply. This was the 1st Atari I have found at a thrift that came with a power supply.
  18. Yep those rarity ratings are from the Digital Press Guide #7. R1= Common Don't have the video game bible yet, is it worth getting?
  19. Not much of a find really, but any type of game is rare around here lately. I found 3 NES games complete in boxes for $5 each. They were Side Pocket (R4), Vegas Dream (R3) & Championship Bowling (R4).
  20. Atrai Stunt Cycle sc-450; I just bought this at a local Salvation Army store for $5. It came with its box but no power cord of RF switch box. The RF cable is frayed a little. I hooked up a universal power adapter and it seems to work fine. Seems like a cool game but I need to know how to play the various games though. Is there any websites that have the instructions for these old games?
  21. Well, If you don't mind using eBay you can get them there for about $12.00 shipped in the US I think. I have bought a few from StockJunkie999 with no problems. Here is a link to his current auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1372050812 it ends in 6 days. I don't know of any "stores" that sell them, but I am sure other people will post some good ones here. I have repaired 2 NES's with these with no problems. Good Luck!
  22. My favorites would have to be Duck Hunt and then Tetris. But I have only had my NES for a couple of months and only have 40 or so games. I did play Duck Hunt way back in the day at a friends house and have always wanted it. Just a cool game.
  23. Does anyone have any information about this Galaga cart? Who made it...when it came out...is it worth anything? The only info I can find anywhere is for the Bandai cart. The game is the same Galaga as the Bandai cart. The picture on this cart looks like the Arcade game. The top of the label has LA 25 and on the back in the middle it says TOP-COM. Any info would be great Click here if the picture doesn't show up
  24. I tried the "push the connector pins" thing and screwed it up so I HAD to buy a new 72-pin connector. Since you won't use eBay, I would make sure you find another source for a new 72-pin connector before you try pushing the pins. You say some games work? Do the games that don't work slide in easier than the ones that do work? If so sounds like the connector and the carts are worn too much so the pins are not contacting. I have a system like that, It didn't work at first then I cleaned the 72-pin connector with a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. The games that seemed to fit a little tighter worked fine, but the games that go in easy don't. I know you won't go this route but here is an eBay auction for a new 72-pin connector, the seller has over 1146 Positive feedback and only 2 negative. The auction ends 4/21/02 at 12:28 PDT 72-Pin eBay Auction Its a DUTCH auction with 80 bids current bid is $8.95 + $3.50 shipping
