  1. It took only slightly more than four years but you can expect this one fixed in the nearest Atari800 release. πŸ™‚
  2. 8-bit tools (and their modern counterparts) have far less gotchas than 16-bit ones. For starters, C compilers used to be really stupid and allowed unthinkable things to write (and to work!). Throwing a source code from the 80s at the latest gcc and trying to fix it may be harder than basically just reading the code and rewriting it from scratch. Typical traps: 16-bit ints, different function bindings, different struct members, assuming order of instructions, ignoring the need of volatile and so on and so on. Way easier just to acquire the original compiler and one by one to update the code to at least ANSI C.
  3. Nice! Btw Linux did contain similar code but it is (AFAIK) either disabled or not longer working in recent kernels. So if you could improve that as well, that would be awesome!
  4. I don't know if it isn't too much to ask but could you guys try that "Reset PIN" option, whether it does something for you? I wish there was a way to show the stored PIN in the VCS settings. 😞
  5. Has anyone tried this app recently? I have two issues with it: - I can't login. It says that my PIN is incorrect. While unlikely, it's possible of course. How do I show my pin in the VCS then? I can get to my profile and see it asterisk'ed - I also tried the PIN reset. That's even more frustrating, it just says that something went wrong..
  6. Hmm, from a quick look I'd say this is original Atari ST sources already adapted to IBM PC, with any m68k files removed. Some files are missing even for x86, like screen handling. Watching your project with interest.
  7. That breakout was (IIRC) part of one of the Language disks, nothing rare about it.
  8. Adam is Me by Bello Games | Party Version (20230721) | Declared Complete: July 8, 2023 | Last Updated: July 21, 2023 Bugziacs by Bello Games | Final Binary (20190601) | Declared Complete: June 1, 2019 | Last Updated: June 1, 2019 I don't know how far you want to go into the past but you can use this list as inspiration: https://demozoo.org/productions/?platform=9&production_type=33
  9. I saw this unit (incl. the typo) back in Australia.
  10. I wonder how the guys pulled this one off. The list is full of Atari classics and then an indie game made in a few weeks. (nothing against it, love it, I just find it a huge success on their side!)
  11. Fingers crossed, guys. I'd love to find someone with working sound on Hades to make sure that my XBIOS routines work properly there (they should but you never know).
  12. Neither Hades nor Milan outperform CT60 Falcon. Its 060 is clocked at a lower speed, bus access is less efficient and RAM access is also slower. The only category where they shine is accelerated graphics thanks to Milan VDI and NOVA VDI but then again, you can install NOVA also in Falcon.
  13. I'd also buy a Milan (for development / compatibility check purposes) but I'd certainly not pay more than 400 EUR for it. It's doesn't look nice, it doesn't offer anything above what Aranym, FireBee or V4 offers and it's basically just a PC with m68k inside. @as...: if you by "ultra very rare" mean that nobody wanted them after their 5 minutes of fame and most likely trashed them in the bin afterwards then yes, they are very rare. @anzac: indeed, it's funny how people are complaining about high prices only if they are on the buyers side.
  14. Sorry if I missed something but what makes you think that MegaST can boot 256KB ROMs? TOS 1.04 has 192 KB, as you correctly pointed out. For running e.g. TOS 2.06 in MegaST you need a separate decoder circuit.
  15. Just for the sake of satisfying my curiosity, I did go through Jookie's code for US. As @troed said, it's close to impossible to brick it without direct goal to do so. So unless Lotharek installs some custom, more-brick-prone US firmware by himself, I also think it's all BS. Electronics is fragile, it breaks sometimes even without reason.
  16. @sideburn not the UltraSatan specifically but yes, I did ship him my Medusa: it had some issue with all of my power supplies. He had a few ironic comments but in the end, he did it for free. And even if it wasn't me who purchased it a year ago from him (but it was still under warranty).
  17. Nice, makes much more sense now. I have been often wondering whether / how often the adaptations are updated, i.e. if someone reports a bug which happens to be in the loader itself. With 1000+ games using the same loader... that could be quite a challenge. Now I read HAGA's description, it's a nice system. With its custom TOS it is much closer to WHDLoad on Amiga (which also implements own OS routines, AFAIK). Especially the shared kernel part is pretty cool.
  18. I'm a bit confused - I'm sure Xenon or Stunt Car Racer have been adapted by Ppera before? Or was it you and you just list them for completeness?
  19. Come on, it could have been just a coincidence. If your PSU blows up while playing Stunt Car Racer, you wont blame Geoff Crammond as the first suspect.
  20. Wikipedia has a nice definition/comparison of circumstantial evidence ("I can tell you is that I was testing various old and new hacks") vs. direct evidence ("I can tell you that's exactly when and how it happened").
  21. It seems you have already found the culprit: the CPU cache. I'd redo all the tests (if you haven't done so already) with cache off and if everything's fine, I'd ask @frank.lukas or Idek (the driver author) for advice.
  22. Just to share my experience: the update loop (the "soft" one: unable to update but I could use the system with the annoying "Something went wrong" popups) was on my OS from 2021 present as well. With some googling I found the Discord group, downloaded the image, put on USB (simple 'dd' in Linux does its job, too btw) and booted the VCS. No need to do or press anything, no need for keyboard, after a while it starts the first menu entry by itself (i.e. the OS update). After that, no issues. I find the google drive link solution quite unfortunate, while looking for solutions I found (and downloaded...) two other images; and since there is no date/time information even in the filename, it was hard to judge which one to use. Fortunately I was smart enough to boot the one from Discord in the end, i.e. the latest one (May 2023).
  23. Well, to be fair, it was you who wanted to save money and used a questionable post carrier which complicated things (and pissed him off in the first place). Still, no excuse to his replies but if someone makes it so clear that any added value will make his life miserable... I certainly wouldn't take it as a good opportunity to use an untested service. Your experience isn't unique unfortunately but imagine that 100 people per week are sending him similar emails and good 50% of them messes something up. The customs offices in eastern Europe are absolute nightmare, I can relate to his anger. πŸ˜• Maybe you could write him in a couple of weeks when he cools off.
