Just cracked open an 800XL and found a rough looking mod - I have no idea what it is but would like opinions before I rip it out I assume this is some sort of RAM upgrade based on how it's wired up. Tuf

I've got a 1200XL I'd like to install one in. I read this will require the XE version? Mine is NTSC. Also will the 1200/XE version work in an 800XL if I decide later to move it? If still available I'd like to purchase. Thanks!

Quick question that's probably been answered but I couldn't find it by searching around. Back around '82 or whenever I got my 400 for xmas I remember calling Atari quite often to ask technical questions about basic. Often times whoever I was talking to would offer to send me a technical document to better explain my question. From what I remember there were about a dozen or so of these documents (I called a LOT) and they had a snazzy name like 'tech-pak' or 'help-doc' but I'm too old to remember. Can anyone fill me in on what these were called and where to find them if they exist online? All my old documentation was tossed in a move - memories forever lost!

Would you happen to have any of the tiny keyboard springs for certain 800xl models? I had one fly across the room and it's gone forever.

Is the encoder and display required to operate the upgrade? Can we just leave it disconnected? I certainly don't need a track display - if I ever feel the urge I'll dust off a Rana or Indus

Found a 1050 with a switch on the front saying UP-HAPPY/DOWN-US DOUBLER. What I'm wondering is if this is a real Happy or a clone. It's got no writing on it at all. Thanks!

Where's it all located?

Nice display at the show today! I've owned an ATR for about 25 years and never had it working in any capacity, so it was nice to see one actually functioning, and running CP/M even. I'm the guy that chatted with you on Sunday at length about the ATR, and I'll PM you when I finally get mine out of storage and see if it powers up.

For newcomers to the hobby, or lurkers like me threads like this are extremely valuable. I own every item mentioned by the OP and don't know the differences between all of them because I don't spend all day playing around with all this stuff. Flashjazzcat's breakdown is great.

As I specifically mentioned above, I couldn't say the same about everyone I've dealt with (which I put in there expecting you to get furious and go digging).
