  1. I thought the show went well. Maybe there were not as many door prizes available, but there were some high dollar items in there that were well worth the cost of some tickets! An XBox and Sega Game gear with tons of games were decent prizes. The tournament was a big hit with people of all walks. It had a lot of interest and an audience too. I never knew there was a method to Kaboom! The people on Guitar Hero were impressive. Not something you can just pick up and hope to win. Practice, practice, practice! The show was fun. Having the convenience of the restaurant/bar was nice too. I spent a few bucks and always find decent deals at this show. The first set of tables to the left of the door had some really clean looking old console systems. I will be back next show.
  2. We had many arcades back in the day. Within a 5-10 mile radius we had: Game Trek Funsville (two of them) Galaxy Gardens Fun N Games Up To Par A large arcade in the local bowling alley. And you could always find a game or two in the convenience stores, department stores, laundromats, and pizza shops. We had one mall that had two arcades in it. That was big time back then. I miss those days. I wish I knew what we had, so that I could have appreciated it more than I did/do.
  3. Pac Man Cafe closed at least 4 years ago. I went in 2004 and looked for it. Employees in the shopping area said that it was closed. I really was looking forward to that but ended up being disappointed.
  4. Cedar Point used to have a great collection, including a lot of old pins. The machines seem to be disappearing as they break. They do have a decent collection though. Marvins Mechanical Museum in Michigan is a great place to go. He has some classics, a lot of unique mechanical machines, some new stuff, and a heck of an atmosphere. DisneyQuest has some nice games too but many of them need some attention. A lot of them have monitor or joystick issues. The cabinets are in great shape though. I go there once a year and have seen a steady removal of games. Although there are games disappearing, DQ has been putting in a few multicades to make up for it. I prefer the real machine but something is better than nothing.
  5. I have a Front Line, love the game. My spinner was acting goofy but a little cleaning and a little lubricant did the trick. The spinners show up on ebay once in a while.
  6. I thought it looked great but played lousy. Plus the cost versus play time ratio was not good enough to get the attention of my quarters back in the day.
  7. I agree with Jsoper. Once you get one, you will want and probably get more. I started with only wanting one machine. The guy that sold it to me warned me about it and not I am up to 30 of them. A great hobby and decent investment.
  8. There are some nice collections out there. I know how much work goes into getting a decent collection, especially with rarities and fix em ups. Nice job at keeping the retro games alive. I have: Pong (2) Centipede (2) John Elway's Team Quarterback (4 player version) Journey Budweiser Tapper Crazy Climber Qix Front Line Space Duel Jungle King Alpine Ski Elevator Action Gyruss Track & Field Berzerk Multicade Cocktail Stunt Cycle Dragon's Lair Q*Bert Space Invaders (w/multi space board) Asteroids Anti Aircraft Star Wars Tron Discs of Tron Missile Command Thief Zaxxon Dig Dug I'd like to get a Gorf, Amidar, Cloak & Dagger, Lunar Lander, Tempest, Astro Blaster Asteroids Deluxe, Robotron, Crystal Castles, Krull, Donkey Kong, 720, Paperboy.
  9. Marvins Mechanical Museum in Detroit is worth a visit. He has some of the weirdest and coolest machines out there. Don't expect a lot of classic arcade games, but there is plenty to keep your interest. Cedar Point used to have a ton of classics, but as the last couple years are indicating, they are neglecting to maintain the older machines, and some that were there in years past are now gone. They do have some nice older pinball machines, when they are working. DisneyQuest has some great looking cabinets, but after we tallied all the problems, most of the classics had monitor, joystick, or other issues which did affect the enjoyment.
  10. I never liked those big buttons, but I recall playing that machine quite often.
  11. I'm 37 from Cleveland, Ohio. I received my first Atari 800Xl in 1983. Several years before that I had an Atari 2600 and Atari Video Pinball. I still use my 800XL and play the 2600.
  12. DanBoris, I sent you 45 seconds of video of the Atari/Syzygy Pong attract mode to your email. If you didnt get it, PM me with an address to re-send it to.
  13. I always thought the cardboard boxes were like striking gold.
  14. I just turned my Pong machine and it defaulted to a score of 11 - 11, and the ball just bounces off the left and right walls, but also bounces off the top. There appeared to be no straight shots from side to side, the ball always hit a top or bottom before hitting the other left or right side. There were no paddles visible. If you need anything else, or would like some video of it, let me know.
