  1. The XBox version looks playable, but not stellar. If you must get it, at least find a mat that will also work with PS2. Heh. Then you'll be ready.
  2. Heh. Well, they've got 2 DDR machines at Marvin's (along with linked Guitar Freaks 9 and Drummania , so make sure you go there in August.
  3. ...And here's the screenshot of Eyetoy mode in DDR Extreme. http://www.konami.com/ddrextreme/screenshots_02.html That'll be good fun. Heh. I'm like the DDR psycho of DP and AA. I think all I have left to clear are Legend of Max Heavy, Paranoia Survivor Max Heavy and Oni, Max.(Period) Heavy and Oni, and Paranoia Respect Heavy and Oni. Moral of the story: DDR is about the most addicting game you'll ever play.
  4. Does Tony Hawk 2 have Special Grind moves? If so, those get you a ton of points usually. At least they do in 3. But with no Manual in 2, it might be hard to link... Hmm... Where's Xenu when you need him? Heh. In THPS3, I usually do a lip trick or something to fill the Special meter, come down and Revert into Manual to keep a combo going, then look for something circular that will accommodate an indefinite grind. Special grind on that, jump off after you get tipsy (probably around 40,000 and a multiplier by this point), land in a Manual, then do some 180 Ollies to boost the multiplier. You'll have to find ways to adapt this strategy to THPS2, though. Oh, and the skill and timing strategy issue is nothing. You ever try finding help on clearing Master stage 3 in Super Monkey Ball? Protip: Don't.
  5. Maybe they should have called it Fjord Raid.
  6. It sounds like the high score save is also preserving locations in RAM that remember if you should be playing on hard mode, and also what stage to continue on. I think there's something you can do to reset the save data. Try holding L and R while turning on the GBA. The Ice Climber manual says you can do that to clear the score and such.
  7. For single player, you can use either a standard controller, or a GBA. When using a standard controller, action normally displayed on the GBA screen is shown on TV in an inset window. But for multiplayer games, each player will need his own GBA and GBA/Gamecube link cable. It just wouldn't work any other way, since the players can branch off and explore caves and such. Cramming 4 little inset windows on screen would be a disaster. Plus this way you can sneak off into a cave and hoard the goodies without the others knowing it. He he. I got this today, and I had no idea it was just released. This is definitely my favorite Zelda ever. And I haven't even gotten to try multiplayer yet! And despite being very arcade-like in style, it's not a short game. Level 2-2 just took me about 40 minutes to complete. Man, this is sweet. It's about time we got a new Zelda with some real innovation. Heh.
  8. Let's just hope they use optical encoder wheels (like in a mouse) instead of crappy potentiometers. And anyone else notice how we've come full-circle back to dedicated paddle consoles?
  9. Not a chance. The GunCon 2 is USB, and has additional buttons. Also no. However there are some 3rd party guns that support both GunCon 1 mode in addition to the original "Konami" light gun mode. It's kind of annoying how there are three totally different light guns across the Playstation line. And god help you if you want two player support in all of those games. Heh.
  10. For PS2, there are a few good ones. Time Crisis 2 Time Crisis 3 Nina Assault Vampire Night Resident Evil: Dead Aim Some other Capcom game with Dinosaurs (from the Japanese "Gun Survivor" series) These all work with the USB GunCon 2, and some of them - like Time Crisis 3 - don't even work with the old PSOne GunCon. And I believe there was a Japanese collection for PS2 that has the Point Blank games along with the original Time Crisis. Want...
  11. Hmm, so Thrust+ would be "play money," then. :-) I shudder to imagine a game of Monopoly...
  12. I'm not sure what's more pathetic: that I specifically sat down to make this last time the topic came up, or that I was able to quickly locate a 2 year old, 6 line program on my hard disk so easily. 1 Note<-N 2 N<-N+If N Then 99 Else 2 3 Note<-Note 4 If P Then Else N<-N+2 5 P<-Note 6 If P-N+2 Then Goto 1
  13. I actually like this game. I don't see why you're having trouble with the controls; I easily get to the 4th or 5th loop through the game. At that point, the Snapjaws in the 3rd screen pretty much become too fast to avoid.
  14. I say it's time to contact your friendly neighborhood mafia branch office. Tell them to bring a video camera with them.
  15. Mr. Driller A = Mr. Driller Ace Released (I think) only on GBA Mr. Driller G = Mr. Driller Great Released in arcade form, and for one of the Playstations. I'd look it up, but the campus network has been shit slow today, and I don't think I have the patience.
  16. If you like Mr. Driller, I highly recommend you get Mr. Driller Ace for GBA. Namco has an internet ranking site open, and if you have (extremely) basic Japanese skills, you'll be all set to post your scores. If you see DAVE on there, that's me. One cool feature of the game is Driller Grand Prix. You go through a series of 3 short stages – from 100m to 300m each – competing with the CPU ghosts for the best time. You can also play Driller Gran Prix with single or multiple cartridge linking. There are 6 characters to choose from, and they all play differently. Fushigina Pakuteria (Wonderful Pacteria) mode is weird. You collect items while playing stages to raise a bizarre virtual pet sort of thing. http://www.mrdriller.net
  17. I find that the Track and Field controller is perfect for Decathlon. You can hold down one of the two buttons, mash the other, and you'll run extremely fast. And of course there's the pole vault trick that everybody already knows.
  18. Whoa, for real? That's just so freakishly cool that I'd probably be forced to get one.
  19. Go to the Pacific Mall, near/in Toronto. It's a Chinese mall, and one of the little shops has a table in the middle with some import Super Famicom Stuff, as well as imports for Saturn, Mega CD, and some Playstation. I'm pretty sure it's all $5 each, and everything appears to be new in the package. It's not quite as old as Atari 2600 stuff, but it's still cool.
  20. GI Joe Cobra Strike supports 3, at least. Two players take on a third, who controls the cobra.

    ...

The Google searching is suggesting that アルマナ might possibly be the Japanese form of L'Almanarre. ...Whatever the hell that is.
  22. Keep in mind that there are laws protecting consumers from bait and switch procedures, and it would probably be relatively easy to argue your case if you think something fishy is going on. Isolated incidents, though, would probably just go down as bad PR.
  23. Okay, I'm really going out on a limb here, but I have to ask. "Midnight Sun" is the name of a song by Mutsuhiko Izumi. By any chance do you play Konami's Guitar Freaks or Drummania? I know, probably not, but if I don't ask, I'll explode.
