Hey guys, after a while of playing a game on my Jag CD the game will freeze and then when I try to restart it all I get is a red Jaguar splash screen and the disk doesn't spin. I currently have it hooked up to a tv on the second flat but when I set it up in the basement I didn't have this problem. Is my Jag CD going out or is it just shutting down due to the heat?Thanks
Sounds like a classic case of heat problems. I assume the ambient temperature up in the second flat is higher than in the basement. The CD unit and Jaguar are probably getting better cooling in the basement. Maybe a cooling fan blowing air over the Jaguar in the second flat could help alleviate the problem.
Also, what you may be setting the Jaguar on can be a source of problem. For example, I was stationed in Alaska 1994 (the year I bought my Jaguar from Far North Atari) and I used to set my Jaguar on my bed when I was playing Cybermorph & AVP. The Jaguar would set right on my comforter. After several hours of playing the Jaguar would get very, very hot due to the Jaguar sinking into the comforter and blocking the cooling vents on the side.
Something to think about if your Jaguar is sitting on something different in each location and the vents are getting blocked.

No reason to be sarcastic, and act as if they do not exist...I think I've done more than enough business w/ fellow collector (I've got references, quite a few on AA as well) of rare/htf jag items, that I've proven myself to be legit, and not just run my mouth. Since your are doubtful, perhaps you can direct me where I can find a scanner/photocopier that will copy CAD sized paper (approximately the size of a movie poster)? Now, if you'd like to respond w/ suggestions, I'd appreciate it. BTW- I haven't gotten back to everyone that has posted here, is because I was on business for the last 2 weeks...now I'm back home here in philly, and will check the board a lil more often.

Didn't mean to come across that way. Appolgize for my harsh post. It's normally not my nature to be like that.
That is a good question on scanning such documents. That proves to be a challenge. About the only way I have to do it is a HP scanner. Scan each section and then try and piece together with photoshop.
Another alternative is to try and have the schematic reduced down and then scan it from there.
Either way, I think you will end up with a large PDF file. It's going to be a trade off between size of PDF and clarity and detail on the image.
I think most Kinko's should have large page copiers that can probably reduce them down in size.
What are the physical dimensions of the CAD drawings? 11 x 17? Bigger?

The CD contains the informercial plus many others. About 57 minutes worth of video play. It plays on your Jaguar and does require some sort of CD bypass to play (e.g. developer CD unit, B&C Bypass, Protector SE, BSG, BJL bypass).

Which suggests that ST's do output higher than standard signals... which meens perhaps the Jag's output would need to be amplified to make it work nicely with an ST monitor?I seem to recall there are potential problems with making a 1224 cable. Especially with what you mention above about signal strengths. The Redmond cable does work, but the video signal is weak (kinda low on the brightness). So don't be surprise if you get this kind of result.
I'm wondering if Redmond might of used some wiring that does a little too much signal loss or just the fact that the Jaguar doesn't put out a very strong video signal. Probably the later.

RE: Jaguar Interactive Displays
- either fix plastic "cellulite" or incorporate into design element.
- fix multi-level effect of eyes in vacuform.
- change the way front door opens so wood is not damaged.
- lower take-one holder by 2 inches.
- make tab on sliding door less extended.
- eliminte joypad arm closure to enable easier replacement of joyad.
- work on "T" or "Y" bracket version of joypad arm for multi-player unit.
- shorten bottom length of monitor plex and cut into monitor shelf to enable access to brighness and contrast controls from console window.
- clean up decals so diecut is visually symmetrical rather than randomly jagged.
- position speakers at proper angle.
- move speaker-wire holes close as possible to cowl.
- verify ability to swap-out 1224 monitor.
- discontinue use of wire cap at rear hole. (Video and electric cables take up too much room for caps to be useful.)
- create retailer assembly instruction sheet.
- generate weight and dimension diagrams for distribution to retailers.
- add red screw covers to console compartment.
- add black screw covers to cowl screws.
- research "keying" options. Can units for a particular chain be keyed the same, yet different from one chain to another.
Looks like designed in late 1993, but not released till sometime in 1994 to retailers.
Just some interesting feedback Greg LaBrec was giving about the kiosks. Funny to see him mention the 1224. But AFAIK, Atari used the 1435 only with only 1435 video cables being made. Never seen 1224 cables, except for the ones that Redmond cable supplied.

I do have the ability to convert the contents of those Syquests onto a universal CD format like ISO9660. In fact whoever may win the auction, I would be happy to provide any advice or assistance.
The only stuff I've seen has come out of B&C. Usually GoAtari hasn't had this kind of stuff, so this is interesting to see them selling this stuff.
Also, I've live only 50 minute drive away from GoAtari.

Excellent game and video quality all things considered.
Starting at lap dancing club certainly grabs you attention once it loads, but I found myself quickly drawn into the plot and wanting to find out more - damn that was going to be great game.
Does any one know if the difficulty settings have any effect? Every time I play it I keep finding more and more sections but I'm not sure if this is down to me changing the settings or the Jag just picking up bits it skipped or crashed at for some reason at previous attempts.
Also, is it possible to get into the KVK building?, if not I wont waste my time trying.
In either the PC demo or Jaguar demo I don't recall exactly how much happens in the KVK. I might have gotten briefly into the KVK building. But I don't recall how. I usually just like going to Laura's house and visiting the upstairs part!! Hubba-hubba!! Need a cold shower now!
I haven't noticed any difference with difficulty settings.
It's just really amazing that Atari was actually planning on publishing this for the PC. Jason Smith has a real nice copy of the flyer from Atari Interactive for American Hero. For info, Atari had spent around a million dollars having this film shot.
Also, I like the premise of the story behind Caves of Fear. I thought that demo had some very good potential for a nice game. Too bad they only shot enough footage to make the demo to prove the technology works on the Jaguar. The Jaguar Gamefilm technology certainly improved the replay value of the interactive movie realm of games.

I haven't seen any actual fonts out of Atari for the Jaguar logo. Everything that I've seen has been a graphic. Usually in a EPS format which makes it nice for scaling.

I can attest to Jason's post. The game is defintely a later beta version. Most copies that I've seen of the game were only Alpha stage stuff.
It will be great if Jason can get special rights secured for the game. It will make a nice edition for anyones Jaguar CD game collection.

Just got round (finaly) to firing up Stones American Hero, and I am already stuck!Things look really good, but then I get stabbed in the neck with a syringe... EVERY TIME! I think I might be taking the wrong path for some reason.. any ideas
To get through it, get your mind out of the gutter and get the girl off of you. Respond to the "What the...?" and focus on the path about the glitter ball.
And when you get to Laura's house, don't be greedy. You will reap the benefits of this piece of integrity!

I still need to add the remote stop/reset mods to my 4MB Alpine - these are just for the rdb/wdb commands 'halt' and 'reset', correct?

That is correct. It saves you from having to physically get up and press the reset switch. Which also helps avoiding bumping the alpine while it's plugged in.

Just for info, but both pictures you have of the Alpines are 2MB Alpines. 2MB Alpines have all 16 chip positions filled with 128k x 8 SRAM. 4MB Alpines have just 8 chips filled installed (typically Hitachi HM628512).
Unless you're justing using some stock photos?

Actually I seen a Lynx and Jaguar case at Atari that were like that. I took a tour of the Art and Testing departments in June 1994 of Atari. Susan McBride has a Lynx like that in here office (it was the undercoat spray they put on before the final coat). Also Lance Lewis had a Jaguar unit in his cubicle like this also. Again, like the Lynx, it was a Jaguar that just had the undercoat spray only.
I'll have to pull out the video tape from the tour and do some photo captures.
Other interesting things seen during the tour: Jeff Minter's cubicle when he moving to Sunnyvale, artwork concepts for Spacewar 2000 title screen/box art, artist concepts for Black Ice / White Noise.

It's good to hear you got the problem solved.
Guess that is why I prefer to use an actual ribbon cable type of parallel cable that I made myself. That way I know for sure that all 25 pins are connected.
I also did this because I didn't like the stress that a regular PC parallel cable was putting on my Alpine board. The ribbon cable is a lot light in weight.

is the ROM image of these carts availible or is there more too them than just code?Not for the purpose of ripping people off, just be nice to see what they did, and for testing jags obvioulsy.
Original would be nice, but the fuctionality of it would be nice too..

I don't know about ROM images. But source code for the System Test cart and System Test board is available on the B&C Atari HQ #1 CD.
So if you want to dig into the System Test stuff, the source code (with comments) is the best place to start.

what the hell..........you need to put batteries in youre alpina board?No. The batteries go into an Alpine board. They makes it so you can save data and not have to load each time.
The Alpine is designed around Static RAM chips that use a chip made by Maxim that provides a small amount of current that keeps the information in the RAM intact. A 3V lithium battery last quite a long time with this setup. Well, at least with the Samsung 512k x 8 SRAM chips I'm using. Older Atari 4MB Alpines used chips made by Toshiba.

I replaced mine several years ago with a battery holder that I got at Radio Shack. I use the very common 3V lithium battery (CR2032). One side of the battery holder matches up alright. The other side I use a piece of resistor wire to extend to mount it properly. Works great.

Just expressing my disrespect for them. But then, I've never taken advice from movie reviewers either.
Your right, it's their opinion. But when they just consistently go out of their way to bash a system to death...even today...then they just don't deserve any respect.
Checkered Flag defintely deserves any bad press it gets.
If there was anything I was doing on my last post it was just some venting. And yes, I'm very biased in favor of the Jaguar.
Its absurd because most people on here are Pro-Jag so of course they arent gonna like what people say about the system right?Point taken!
At least I don't waste my money anymore on the gaming magzines.

Can't say exactly what could've happen to your cart. But the chip used inside (an Atmel Flash chip) is the same type of chip used for storing the BIOS in Pentium PC's. So lack of use is not the reason.
I would suspect more of the fact that something went wrong during the write process when you last used the cart.
