  1. Since I last flew, I've had titanium implants in my neck, my right knee, then my left knee. Will be interesting next week when I fly.

      Many doctors don't even provide those things any more. The neurosurgeon (neck) said that it doesn't change anything about the process whether security know ahead of time or not. I've been reading accounts online and that certainly seems to be the case. I've heard that the TSA often won't even look at them.

       

      I told my boss who I'm traveling with that I'll need to allow extra time for this. The neck implants are relatively small so may or may not trigger, but the knees will almost certainly set off the metal detector.

       

      Expecting it to be fun a complete pain.

      I've had a titanium rod in one of my ankles since 1994.  Never once got stopped at security for it.
