  1. Until seeing that picture, I had forgotten that I soldered the seams of the alligator clips 20 or 30 years ago. Never thought to fill them completely with solder, but just solidifying the seam made a big difference. Filling completely would probably be better.
  2. A capacitor looks like an open circuit to DC. (Lots of exceptions but that is a fair first approximation.) So the cap will only look like a conductor to AC. This means that AC will be shorted to ground but DC will pass by the cap. That's what makes it a filter. (Again, very generalized, but sufficient for this discussion).
  3. I tried to buy from them, but shipping always seemed to be marked up significantly so I quit looking there.
  4. "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". Now that's a movie title worthy of being made into an Atari 2600 game if I ever heard one.

It's better when the Batman theme is dubbed over the fight sequence of the two aliens.

  5. I saw Atari 2600, Intellivision and Odyssey2 cartridges at Goodwill this week. $5.00 each for commons, but at least they didn't throw them away.
  6. I had the same thought when converting a Radica Space Invaders to a 2600 controller. Haven't used it with a 7800 yet, but it's there in case an emergency should arise.
  7. A couple of resistors, but yes the 7800 controller works on the 2600. The two fire buttons act identically on the 2600 rather than performing separate functions as on the 7800.
  8. "Psych: The Movie" did not disappoint.

      Really?

So it came on the same time as it did here?

      Right?

One of the best modern TV shows ever. Glad it was good, I can't wait to add it to my pineapple of the complete series.

I didn't even know about it. We love that show! I hope they do more movies.

  9. Well, sonny, it's just that when you get to my age, have two bad knees and the "spine of an 80 year old", you tend to vividly recall the experience of single-handedly carrying a 100+ lb., 32" CRT TV up a flight of stairs and across the house. ...I said I was older, not smarter.
  10. I don't recall exactly what the heat sink looks like, but I don't recall it being anything proprietary. Have you looked at generic TO-220 heat sinks?
  11. FYI - I just confirmed that this is what happens if I set up mine with the output directly from the Genesis, with no secondary cable in between. Apparently, the 32x does additional graphics rendering and combines that with the graphics generated by the Genesis console. But, if I take just the output of the 32x to the TV without the cable in between, the video appears to have sync problems. It's probably synced with the Genesis graphics through some internal signal and only the Genesis signal includes the sync signals that the TV can use.
  12. I don't know the technical details about what functional contribution each piece makes, but it does require a cable out of the Genesis into the 32x then out of the 32x into the TV. I have a ridiculously clunky cable intended for who-knows-what that I used in between for testing. I found the cheapest and most expensive sold, comparable packages on eBay and priced toward the lower end. So, I hope it's a fairly good deal for the buyer.
