  1. "Psych: The Movie" did not disappoint.

      TheTIGuy

      Really?

So it came on the same time as it did here?

      Right?

One of the best modern TV shows ever. Glad it was good, I can't wait to add it to my pineapple of the complete series.

I didn't even know about it. We love that show! I hope they do more movies.

Surgery technically went well. But, given the condition of my cartilage, he doubts this will do much to reduce my pain.

Next stop: unicompartmental arthroplasty. Needed on both knees so we'll have to work on prioritization. He has a colleague who performs about 200 of those a year, so I'll probably see that guy next and relatively soon.

Glad to hear the anesthesia went well and you didn't have any problems. The result sounds a lot like the thyroid surgery I had earlier this year, where even though you have the surgery and go through the long recovery process it still doesn't really fix the problem. In my case I'm going to have to get what amounts to a single dose chemo treatment to nuke what's left of my thyroid tissue, but it sounds like your knee treatment is going to be a lot longer and more complicated.

  3. Looks like the Studio II sold pretty quickly. Maybe some Game Boy stuff will be next to go.

    1. carlsson

      carlsson

Based on the documents referred to in the big Studio II thread, it appears RCA were convinced it would sell like hot cakes and pave way for the Studio III, IV and eventually V.

It did sell quickly...when RadioShack liquidated the remaining units.

  4. Tracing circuit and drawing a schematic for a board with 100 chips is just at my tedium limit. Does anyone actually like doing this?

    1. BigO

      BigO

I'm as sure as I am able to be. I've run out of places to look online. I've had others contacting me to see if I had a schematic. Meadows Bombs Away circa 1976.

    2. BigO

      BigO

I'll likely stop once I've found the part of the circuit that's causing the failure. Other than the small amount understanding I'm gaining about how this and discrete logic games in general work, it's just drudgery.

  5. If it tells anything about my parts stash, I'm working on a 1976 vintage video game and putting in replacement IC's with even older date codes.

    1. BigO

      BigO

Maybe when I was 10 or so, my dad drug home several big boxes of stuff for me. Someone he knew had taken an electronics correspondence course. As he already knew a lot about electronics, he didn't build a lot of the circuits. I didn't really know what to do with all the stuff at the time, but I had already been tearing stuff apart and playing with electronics. I'm pretty sure that's where these chips came from.

    2. jaybird3rd

      jaybird3rd

I collected a fair number of electronic parts as a kid, too, mostly from taking apart broken computers and appliances. I wish I'd kept that stuff, but it got lost somewhere during our various moves. I only started getting back into electronics in the last seven years or so.

    2. BassGuitari

The simultaneous multiplayer is definitely the draw with the 400/800 version. It's a pretty clunky game otherwise. Dark green was a terrible choice for the P1 ship.

  9. 1977 vintage pinball machine is back up and running again. Even found NOS exact replacement full wave rectifier.

    1. BigO

      BigO

To say that it's 1977 vintage just means that it was manufactured in that period.

But, to answer your question: yes. And a person from 1965 is way old.

      BigO

I have little helping hands alligator clip thingies. Nothing that will handle an 11"x14.5" board though.

      Don't know the Aliens reference.

      BigO

Looked up picture. Yeah, Panavise pcb holder looks like that. Not sure I want to cough up what it will cost for one of those to handle this board. I may just keep wrestling with it.

Same here Jess. I love the aesthetics and pocketable form factor of the Micro (even in a padded case it still fits in your pocket!) but I too prefer the bigger screen of an AGS-101 GBA SP for general use. =)
